  • This is Gumby's feelings when he found out that Dreamworks bought Classic Media. Yes, as if it wasn't bad enough that they're working on the Peabody and Sherman movie, now we got to worry about CGI versions of Gumby, He-man, Archie, and some of the segments of Rocky and Bullwinkle and even Total Television.

    Actually I do not mind this since they could always ask Aardman animations to make the a Gumby film since Aardman has worked with them many times in the past.

    Well, it can't be as bad as when Disney bought the rights to Star Wars and the Muppets.

    I suppose you heard Premavision/Clokey Productions bought Gumby back from DreamWorks Classics? Maybe after the problems the studio had a couple years ago convinced Premavision that Gumby would be better off away from DreamWorks or Classic Media.

      +wileyk209zback Not only that, but the Rocky and Bullwinkle short made for the Peabody and Sherman Blu-Ray looked as if they shat on everything great about Rocky and Bullwinkle with modern crap... and made the Rocky and Bullwinkle movie look like a masterpiece.

      I know; did they REALLY need a Lady Gaga song?
      And I thought that 2000 "Rocky and Bullwinkle" movie was pretty fun.

      ***** And did they really have to insult Bullwinkle's Corner with modern rap? What's next? Mr. Know-it-all is getting a lawsuit from Kelly Clarkson, the same way modern companies don't know what the fuck is fair use? Or Bullwinkle's Hat Trick is going to have an animal actually kill off Bullwinkle? Or General Mills having Buzz show up in the middle of the short with that horrible "Must be the Honey" slogan"? The story itself is an insult to Rocky and Bullwinkle in general, as it didn't know that it doesn't start the story with a recap; it starts a story with a threat or motivation... or whatever was going on with the plot to begin with.
      Anyways, with the Movie, it does seem like it was trying to pay homage to the original cartoon in the first place. Rocky and Bullwinkle being cancelled? That was referenced throughout the show that they fear the Rocky and Bullwinkle series would be cancelled due to rating drops. Rocky and Bullwinkle going to different locations? That's also part of what made the series interesting, for the heroes and villains would travel the world either saving the world or conquer it. Rocky and Bullwinkle having important business involving Washington D.C.? There were a couple of episodes like that in the original series. And don't get me started on breaking the fourth wall (external views) and the importance of the story (internal views)... or even the importance of Rocky and Bullwinkle themselves: Rocky's Flight and Bullwinkle's strength.
      The plot of the movie itself was like Wakko's Wish, a proper farewell to Rocky and Bullwinkle and all the great times we have. Yes, there is a bridge character in there, but unlike "Tom and Jerry: the Movie", she doesn't steal the spotlight, but does play an important role regardless.

    Yes, but how many post-Walt Disney (post 60s) Disney film are worth watching subjectively for eveyr Disney fan (I stayed away from Home on the Range and Lilo & Stitch because they looked like they'd been done somewhere else;like Animaniacs episodes.I prefer WALT Disney. Like watching Fat Albert or Scooby (for those of us not into the great Dane, I know you are and that's cool) just because it's better than CGI> GIve me the original (pre-60s) Bugs, Rocky,etc.

    @SteveCarras Před 11 lety +4

    Fat ALbert, no way. Bugs, Flintsotnes, yes. I do not care much for CGI at all anymore but I would never watch Sealab 2020 (Hanna-Barbera,1972-73), or Filmation's endlessly produced Fat Albert and they are hand drawn. In short..(my Aesop like moral, maybe it's the Greek heritage in me!-a little bit of urine (e.g.Fat Albert) is just as ugly in public as is a bunch of turds (e.g.CGI).
