How To Control your TELEVISION Volume and Power from the Xbox One S by voice commands

  • Hi, this video shows you how to control your main TV functions from your Xbox One so you can turn on and off your TV using voice commands as well as controlling the volume and mute. It saves you using the TV remote control when using the Xbox One S console which has a built in IR blaster. If you are using the original Xbox One then you will need a Kinect as it doesn't have an in built IR blaster.
    Many thanks Vince.

Your video is great and was so incredibly helpful with the detailed info on how to actually do the volume and shut on/off TV set up with Xbox one elite series 2 controller. If not for your video, I would never have been able to set it up alone. Thanks so much for making this video. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get it to work as I wanted the volume control to go up and/or down with the d pad on the controller. I changed the volume control to 1 up take or down and then mapped it to the d-pad. I use quality encase headphones plugged into the tv. I then created a racing profile so I could change my volume on the d-pad with the controller while playing the racing games. I was so excited that it worked. I’m older so technical stuff takes me a little longer but actually I managed this quickly because of your detailed video. AMAZING IS THE BEST WAY TO PUT IT. Your video was the only one I found that showed the detailed info that I needed. Keep up the great work.

5:23 That looks like it's great for if someone has their TV as a dedicated monitor for their Xbox, maybe in some office/school lounge or something where they don't connect anything aside from power and HDMI, and maybe they may also have their pay TV box or external Freeview reciever connected through their Xbox and maybe they are using the optional media remote.

Was able to get this to work with my Xbox one S and I don't have a Kinect. There is a small ir blaster in the front of the One S. It should work as long as your room or space is small enough to reflect the infrared light from the blaster in to the tv. For larger rooms you will need a Kinect, but if your room is small give it a try.
