  • Shea Moisture has recently come out with two new gels to two of their popular preexisting lines. So naturally I was curious as to how these gels would hold my fine curls. Would they define my curls? Would they be too heavy? Would they have enough hold? Check out and see what my thoughts are from Day 1 to Day 2.

I have no experience with these gels, but I wonder if more product would make a difference in hold & longevity. Thanks for the video & I look forward to seeing results from other reviewers

Your questions are fair enough, and I'm sure I'll play around with that a bit with time. I do get nervous with getting too much product, so I guess I'd rather start with too little and work my way up. 🙂

I wanna try them now 😮

This is an older video now, and I can definitely say I prefer the JBCO gel better, but I like to pair it with some other styler that gives me hold.

I don't see frizz; I see ringlets and curls. It looks nice.

Thank you for your kind words. It's been a while since I did that video, and so I've learned to like the gels a little better, but still for my curls, they aren't long lasting.

I haven't tried them, but it's nice to see that they are under $10.

Have you tried homemade flaxseed gel? I broke my crappy IKEA French press making it, but it’s unlike anything else. Not everyone’s favorite but IMO everyone should at least try it once. Also trying Miribel Naturals here. They make flaxseed gel you can buy with a few more ingredients in it, but it’s a lot like homemade, and I have the protein cream as well. Just tried them today. So far, very nice!

Miribel is not cheap. It’s a small business and all natural etc. You can get 10% off your first purchase though and bundle products to save a little money. I’d try homemade first since you can get seeds for just a couple dollars and see if you like that. Then if so, Miribel might be something to consider.

I have not tried a homemade flaxseed gel. I've seen a number of other influencers try it (Luisa Louis and Swavy Curly Courtney are a few) and kind of show the process. I should probably put the effort into trying it, but the process of doing it doesn't really excite me. And I have heard of Miribel Naturals! Once again, I've seen a few influencers review her products, but haven't really seen too much out there. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Yeah, making the gel started out fun but become frustrating. My husband and the dog were looking at me all crazy. I felt very accomplished when I had my little batch done though and now I think I know how to fix some mistakes next time.
Most people would want more hold but I like it looser and softer so it’s excellent for that.
Haven’t tried the new Shea Moisture gels but I use their shampoos and conditioners quite often. The stylers tend to be too heavy. Maybe the gels wouldn’t be??

Unfortunately, whenever I tried any of sheamoisture products, my hair doesn't like it, and it gets very frizzy

Do you think they are good gels for wavy hair? Or will they be to heavy...

    • @LoveMusic-dv4sl

      @@ericakarel1069 they're to heavy.

    • @lifeoffinecurls
      @lifeoffinecurls  Před rokem +1

@@ericakarel1069 I personally didn't think these gels were too heavy, and my fine curls have the potential to be weighed down. The gels are thick when applying, but you can add some more water to your hair or to the gel (in your hands) when applying. I also recommend gently scrunching after your product(s) are applied and diffusing your hair to set your waves in place. Everyone's hair is different by I feel like the Coconut and Hibiscus Defining Styling Gel might work better for wavy hair.
