I love how Roger walks over to the gong while everyone else is concentrating on their own thing and is like: "Qhody-doody-doo, Imma go play some gong! Okay, lemme catch my breath, okay, BLAM!!!"
This was the most amazing, original idea for a “live” show, EVER. The Floyd played this Masterpiece for an invisible audience...the entire performance evokes emotions from the depths of my soul and is an absolute GENIUS work of art. No other show will ever compare to this.
For my money the version on Ummagumma is the definitive version of this song. I spent a lot of time listening to Floyd boots when I was growing up and I don't think I ever came across one superior to that. I did, however, once find one that went on for more than half an hour. I think even the hardcore dopeheads were starting to wilt by the end of that one.
Pink floyd were before my time but I've discovered them years after they'd called it a day, theyre now my favorite band.......This is unreal, nobody makes music like this anymore and thats sad.
This art piece is an absolute masterpiece. I see it as a transition from hell to paradise. First minutes of the song depict the rotten, chaotic world/hell. As the song progresses, you are getting closer to heaven and in the end, you can hear the angels calling you.
This is my Favorite Track from THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD.............R.I.P. Syd.....PINK FLOYD IN POMPEII changed my life. Thank - You Roger, Dave, Rick and Nick....................
Close your eyes and listen this music with a headphone, lights off and some cups of whisky on your head. The experience is incredible and indescribable. Believe in me. Sublime.
PInk Floyd are the BEST BAND of every times...this song is THE SONG...wonderful notes...drums, bass...delay...place (in primis)...go PINK!!!...GOOOOO....EMOTION...
I honestly cannot leave this video alone. I think Dave's wordless vocals in that final minute are some of the most heartfelt sounds I've ever heard. Oh gosh. LOVE
This song helped my wife understand how I feel during an Aspie meltdown, and me to understand how my wife feels during a fibromyalgia flare up. Thank you, Pink Floyd.
No matter how many times I listen to this song, it's amazing each time. The way it shifts from one incarnation to the next. One moment its so chaotic, but from how everyone performs so controlled. Then it crashes with a flurry of drums to the ghostly whine of Gilmour's guitar and the regular rhythmic playing of Nick Mason. It's a true musical testament.
Classic and unique live at Pompeii with not a single soul there but camera person.I have the vhs and when I first watched it how amazing it is.They are all exceptional musicians.
I love this track. The keyboard at the end is my favorite part. R.I.P Rick. If you listen to this track from the Ummagumma album the organ playing is so lovely.
This piece simplifies what´s life for me: hard to accept, hard to deal with, unfair.. when we accept this, we can feel resignation, there´s when this music take place.. from kaos to armony, it just helps me..
Pink Floyd as a whole are an experience. Musical but the vastness that transcends sound, expression, thought. I merely pigeon-hole them with words. They just are. Wow.
At the first time that you here this song you say to yourself: " What the hall are they doing ?! " At he second time you still do not understand what is going on.. At the third time you begin to understand the song, and the strengths that it has, And understand how huge this song. The time passes and you find out the version of Pompeii, hear it and cry That's what happened to me
Para mim é a melhor banda do mundo, os álbuns que mais gosto: ANIMALS, MEDDLE, A SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS, WISH YOU WERE HERE, ATOM HEART MOTHER, todos são ótimos, uma das melhores musicas SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND e WELCOME TO THE MACHINE
This song is a masterpiece on many levels and both David & Roger are...*unf*! Beautiful music & beautiful guys! Roger's a red hot sexy Devil & David is a magnificent Angel! GORGEOUS!
Pretty sure they all dabbled in softer drugs like pot and acid at one point or another. The only one who went overboard was Barrett, the rest of them could control themselves.
By the way you are wrong, They were smoking bricks of hashish, they all had taken acid (in the early years when Barrett was the leader of the band)they used quaaludes and were into coke in the 70s (just like most Stadium bands of the mid to late 70s) What do you think Rick's 'personal problem' was about at that time? They just *seemed* to be clean because of all the bands like the Stones, the Who and Led Zeppelin were wearing their lifestyles on their sleeve. They were low key. The Floyd never fucked up a hotel room.
This isn't just music... this is finest art. and as in all art works there are lovers and haters. for me the whole pompeii-concert is ONE great masterpiece! whatever THEY thought by doing this... for me it's just amazing!
OMG Waters should change his name to Darkfires... i think he's the incarnation of Melkor the Vala from The Silmarillion... all that incredible, terrifying power and magic...
+Ajay Kumar Good point! it's very interesting tho, you know, bc in my version Gilmour would be Ulmo, who has a perfectly balanced personality, and normally is indeed his own master, but he instantly and willingly teamed up with the other Valar when Melkor's power got too great and they had to bring him down... which eventually they did, at least in a legal sense, some time around 1985/6... lol
Gabriella Borbély She was, but after eating the sap from the two trees she grew in size, and eventually demanded the silmarils for herself, Morgoth refused, and she attacked him and probably would have killed him if the Balrogs hadn't come to his rescue.
For me that's a feeling, which can't be described - it's like a statement of being weak in the view of being helpless in sight of Mother Earth' endless great power.
i don´t get 12 people not liking this...so what that hell are they doing here??? if you were looking for Pink Floyd it´s impossible not to like this song, which is more than a song, it´s pure genius creation, nobody creates or has created sounds like this ever!!!...They are immortals to me!
Always blows my mind how under appreciated Richard Wright is. He was a huge and essential part of that "Pink Floyd sound". He set the mood for the rest of the band members to add on. If you listen closely, a lot of their best songs begin with his playing (be it piano or keyboards). What's best is he is mirrored by David Gilmour who is another musical genius and together they elevate the music to a completely different level.
They are all just really excellent at communicating to each other with music. You can almost hear conversations of incredible depth and emotion being had when great bands and songs like this occur.
Pink Floyd is way to fucking good I can't even take how beautiful these people and their music are and everything about it is just flawless it's just simply perfect and it's insane how Pink Floyd can make you feel...
I love how Waters goes crazy with the percussion instruments
Pink Floyd, the only band that could make you cry just by saying the letter 'A'
Arautos
I'd add also King Crimson...
Don’t forget Adam Ant
Exactly :(...
Sapo
From 5:10 starts one of the most beautiful melodies that I ever heard in my life. It leaves you speecheless..
so damn true, im only here for 5:10 ! its almost spiritual
you got that right , it's total bliss!
Yup we love the Pink Floyd indeed!!
I came here, 10 years later, to say exactly that.
Otherwise known as Celestial Voices when played on its own
I love how Roger walks over to the gong while everyone else is concentrating on their own thing and is like: "Qhody-doody-doo, Imma go play some gong! Okay, lemme catch my breath, okay, BLAM!!!"
This song is like the creation of the universe- chaotic, increasingly chaotic, then suddenly beautifully harmonious
This was the most amazing, original idea for a “live” show, EVER. The Floyd played this Masterpiece for an invisible audience...the entire performance evokes emotions from the depths of my soul and is an absolute GENIUS work of art. No other show will ever compare to this.
VERO , MAGNIFICO !!!🎉😮😅
I love this version much more than the studio version. Gilmour's voice at the end is so haunting and beautiful...
This is one of those songs that you have to listen to the whole way through in order to fully enjoy it
This is one of the most amazing things any musician has ever done
A fucking masterpiece. Nick Mason is stunning.
Pink Floyd can take you to to a different world. Show feelings and emotions without even singing a single word.
Only Pink Floyd could think about doing this masterpiece into an empty 2000 years old stadium... that's just epic.
Can't believe when this was being recorded in 72, I was just an 8 year old kid, living in a town less than an hour from Pompei,!!!!!
It's been confirmed this concert alone was so loud it was heard through the entire city of Pompeii. Can't believe you didn't hear it.
That transition of melancholic distastrous sounds into the harmonic faith-restoring piece is just breathtakingly exquisite
Roger has so much of an incredible style in this performance!
This is music. This is music defined. True musicianship.
Better than the album version
by far
Nope.
As for me drums are better at album version
I just love this! Nick's drumming is wonderful. Is it just me or he's underrated much?
Pink floyd were before my time but I've discovered them years after they'd called it a day, theyre now my favorite band.......This is unreal, nobody makes music like this anymore and thats sad.
jack hooper there are still some making this kind of music
No one reach that quality
@Gerrard Aissing Care to actually list some? I'd like to listen to them.
Nobody ever will Nobody can and never will sound or b like Pink Floyd
This art piece is an absolute masterpiece. I see it as a transition from hell to paradise. First minutes of the song depict the rotten, chaotic world/hell. As the song progresses, you are getting closer to heaven and in the end, you can hear the angels calling you.
this is by far my favorite version of saucerful of secrets, it gives me goosebumps every time
This is my Favorite Track from THE BEST BAND IN THE WORLD.............R.I.P. Syd.....PINK FLOYD IN POMPEII changed my life. Thank - You Roger, Dave, Rick and Nick....................
Perfect example of a song which says so much with so little. One of their really best.
No words can express what this band means to me.
Thats the kind of stuff that makes my life worth living
That was beautiful
that's right... too bad the recording isn't perfect
So enigmatic, mysterious, fascinating...I'm in a trance everytime I hear that piece. Sheer joy!
I honestly cannot leave this video alone. I think Dave's wordless vocals in that final minute are some of the most heartfelt sounds I've ever heard. Oh gosh. LOVE
Greatest moment of music I've ever witness, especially the vocal part
it's so pure words don't do it justice
Cosmic feelings, amazing song. 80 persons were certainly in a bad trip while listening to this.
This song helped my wife understand how I feel during an Aspie meltdown, and me to understand how my wife feels during a fibromyalgia flare up. Thank you, Pink Floyd.
That's beautiful Benjamin - it's great how music can mean different things to each of us, and help us put stuff into context.
I absolutely am in LOVE with this song--and Pink Floyd
Grande Nick Manson....
Davvero pazzesco... Tutti e quattro sono dei grandi
Can such heavenly harmonies come out of human brains?
Pink floyd in my mind,in my heart,in my soul, thanks roger (syd) barrett; roger waters; david gilmour; richard wright and nick mason. Genius
Words can never explain how great this is!
Thank you Gilmour, thank you Pink Floyd , you made me cry ... i needed that
Classic and unique live at Pompeii with not a single soul there but camera person.I have the vhs and when I first watched it how amazing it is.They are all exceptional musicians.
Toujours autant d'émotion, 40 ans après...
I love this track. The keyboard at the end is my favorite part. R.I.P Rick. If you listen to this track from the Ummagumma album the organ playing is so lovely.
The Ummagumma version is definitely my favourite. David's vocals are spot-on.
@@leanzawohlfeil7007 My favorite A Saucerful Of Secrets versions in order: Ummagumma, Live In Pompeii, and Live In Yorkshire England, 1970.
This piece simplifies what´s life for me: hard to accept, hard to deal with, unfair.. when we accept this, we can feel resignation, there´s when this music take place.. from kaos to armony, it just helps me..
I wonder if the ghost of the citizens of Pompeii are watching, while eating their bread? You can't see them, but I'm sure they're there....
they basked in the brilliance that is waters gilmour wright and mason
Ghost at Pompeii more be like: "Yippe, yon can't see me but I can you😋😋"
@@murpi338 i got the reference lmao
Live at Pompeii is such a rare snapshot of a group on the cusp of becoming one of the most revered bands in rock history.
This proves that more emotion can be expressed without lyrics than some half-assed pop song about someone's last failed relationship.
I am totally amazed, I have a crazy over, not only I can hear, I can see the music that this beautiful era Pink Floyd.
Pink Floyd as a whole are an experience. Musical but the vastness that transcends sound, expression, thought. I merely pigeon-hole them with words. They just are. Wow.
I could cry and listen to this song for hours. I have never heard a song like this which make sense on me.
It's nice to know that this locale isn't terribly far from my new home. What a magnificent place they chose to record at!
Pink Floyd in my heart
Magnificent. Majestic. No band will ever come near to rivalling Pink Floyd
Pompéia insuperável. Anos luz a frente.mestres.
i can feel something strange inside me while listening this music... i' m borning again.. that's just wonderful...
is it normal to cry at this? especially on the vocals?
+luisangelo aquino absolutely normal :D

I have listened to this song so much, that when i dont have my ipod i can play it in my head note-for-note. This is the best song ever created.
Fucking madness, i love early pink floyd
This song could stop the apocalypse; its' that beautiful. I seriously CRY it's so beautiful.
This song is a masterpiece on many levels and both David & Roger are...*unf*! Beautiful music & beautiful guys! Roger's a red hot sexy Devil & David is a magnificent Angel! GORGEOUS!
this is not Music its way beyond music, its perfection... At 5:08 I actually started to cry... Its so deep so... It touched me to the inside...

FANTASTIC. PURE ART. TIMELESS.
This what happens when you are very creative and experiment with sounds and blend them into a great number
Oh my god... Im so gonna cry listening this song... Beautiful.
by the way, these guys were never stoned on any kind of drugs! Pure geniuses...
How do you know?

Epic musicianship and vision. Roger smashing the gong during the peak takes it to another stratum.
Ah Negão?
Pink Floyd has introduced me to the psychadelic world good ten years ago. Although it brought me many tough times in my life, I do not regret.
