Our scoutmaster on a camping trip with our dads gave us all one jig and a 10’ piece of mono fishing line and sent us out to catch a fish. We as kids had so much fun and we all caught fish! That’s how I fell in love with fishing! 👍

I font care anymore. I would prefer professional bass tournaments just went away. Between anglers trying to sell you copycat baits. To not saying what the used to win the classic because it wasn't from a sponsor. Take it all back to 1970 standards and I may start watching again. Butler, Dance, Mann, Linder and others represented their own company's baits. Money, money, money. FFS or not its all the same. I've been following bass fishing in Japan to quite a while. Many of the anglers represent their own companies and use their own baits like the old days here. By the way I'm older than Randy so I've seen what I'm talking about, and I still have a flasher on my boat.

I agree. I’ve caught maybe 100 crappie my whole life traditional bass fishing and with live scope I was able to go with 2 other guys and catch 180 in 2 days. Barely even trying cheating for sure

I don’t know who really cares if it’s ban from professional fishing tournaments, because that’s just a few people, most of us fishermen just really don’t care, most fishermen have real jobs.
Randy, keep up the fight. The comparison to infrared drones finding deer in their habitat is spot on. There is zero skill needed to look at a TV screen, locate a school, and toss a lure in their faces when otherwise they would have no plan to fish those areas. No understanding of the effects of weather, color, season, pressure etc on the behavior of the fish and how to adjust accordingly. That is fishing!

There are more important things going on in the world than forward facing sonar and bass fishing. I think you have to be careful calling someone a cheater if they are playing within the rules. I've been bass fishing for 40 years and have been using a fish locater with downscan mainly for depth information. Bass fishing has come a long way and has gained a lot of fans. I think all the complaining about the millennials winning tournaments with the latest technology is dangerous and sends a wrong message for the next generation of fishermen if we want bass fishing to continue into the next decades. Let's embrace change and the people and fishermen and women who are showing us old schoolers a new way.
That hasn't changed all the other sports that rightfully put restrictions on equipment, which was needed to sustain the sport. If they truly like the sport they will learn and stay.
If not they probably don't belong in it. IMO.

I’m 35 and sadly I am a flat brimmer, I fish from the bank 60% of the time for exercise and that trails available to me it would be stupid to not take advantage. When I’m on my boat or kayak; depth finder and temperature only and it’ll be that way forever. Just giving you a hard time Randy. If I lived closer I’d book a guide trip just to take a picture of you next to a flat brimmer!

They need the crutch that LS and FFS provide. And let's not just say that these technologies are destroying bass fishing - they're destroying all sport fishing.
Right about that, totally abusing the crappie stocks in our local area. I’m seeing pontoon boats with 4-5 guys dialed in and taking limits (30) per person and our smaller lakes have a good population but soon they won’t. If they ever are banned what about perishing and then marking the coordinates.Repeat what worked and you can get similar results.

Everybody always knocking on MLF. The anglers over there do a excellent job explaining what they are doing, baits and why. Thats why I like watching MLf over bass. The team series is the best just anglers sharing info

I'm very basic in my fishing. I won't ever get ffs due to I won't spend that😂 but I have a question where is the line drawn? Do you see clear vu and side vu acceptable? Just wondering thanks.
One problem I see is, there are too many fishermen. I grew up fishing Lake Bull Shoals, it was so pleasant without tons of other boats. We had 25% of the tackle and caught more fish easier.

Who cares what happens on the Elites, Opens or BPT. If you aren't in those tournaments you don't have a say. Personally I wouldn't lose any sleep if there was no Professional Bass tournaments.
I met KVD at the bassmaster Classic. I joked and told him my 7-year-old would be live scoping in tournaments soon... I could tell by how he reacted and laughed at that joke what his opinion was...😅

Every professional level sport is supposed to limit crutch type equipment. Look at golf, bowling, football, baseball, ect.

Id almost argue it takes more skill to target and catch specific big fish than it does to fish the "old school" way and just hope you get lucky. You make the argument about using infrared drones to hunt big bucks, but does simply seeing that big buck guarantee that it will just hop itself right in your freezer? I highly doubt it and im sure once youre on the ground hunting youll find that drone doesnt do you much good anymore. Does it increase your odds? Yes, but so do cell/trail cams. Equivocally so do si/di units, theyre pretty effective in locating fish.

Enjoy your vids randy and while i think the ffs are a really neat piece of equipment. It takes all the unknown out of fishing which is what i have always loved about it. Its the unknown and skills learned over time that when they do pay off you have put the pieces of the puzzle to earn that catch. Honestly i have a older Lowrance and just use it for depth. Most of the times if im on a lake i know the depth i dont even use it lol
Flat brim hats have been a standard for the black community since I was a kid it has nothing to do with character or age please be careful how you choose to categorize people much respect

Randy, I noticed your smile was a little bit bigger at the beginning lol lol, last elite series I learned how to rip a huge spinner bait through my area so I can scare out the 4 to 6 pounders that wouldn’t bite and save their waypoint for later. That’s how you tournament fish simple, and awesome. It’s over boys.
Funny thing is the pros that are so upset by FFS haven’t been doing so hot lately anyway. Plain & simple getting older & being so hard headed instead of trying to learn how to use the best tool there is available to legally use is their own fault. Either get modern or go home. Bank Parker definitely would have used it if available in his time. He even said he liked it.

Let everyone fish the way they choose to. There are plenty of lakes. Rivers and streams for everyone to fish without running down young hard working Americans and anglers just because the choose to use technology that others don't enjoy. Why keep ranting about fellow a glers. A lot of lakes in Texas are better than ever, some have too many tournaments for me, but I don't want to condemn anyone for fishing in a legal manner.
I'm in agreement with this. If it is a competition - for money? Yeah, skill and luck should be the deciding factors for a winner, in that order - NOT who has the better device that shows them where the fish are on the map.

You shouldn't be in a tournament for fishermen if you can't find fish by learning how to fish successfully...without electronics. Keep up the hard work, and fish on! ❤

I've always thought that what will happen is that there will be a random draw that limits the use of livescope to 4hr blocks per day(morning or afternoon) then the opposite block on day 2.Then on cut day 2hr block on day 3,and no livescope on championship Sunday.

Just as a comment of the change in fishing with FFS, I stopped Fantasy Fishing on BASS. Before the newer rookies came to the h e Elite Series I was in the 95% groups a lot. This year I hit rock bottom on the first two tournaments. I know fisherman and how they fish. This was a great strategy for thousands. FFS killed my standing. I quit. I fished competitive bass tournaments for 47 years. I retired and went hog wild on Fantasy Fishing. The greatest addition to Bass Fishing is spot lock and GPS. I still fish the old fashion wayn. My observation on the change in deer hunting is analogous to your bass fishing. When I was young we went to the words weeks before season began and scouted trails, movements, and so forth. We chose a tree we could climb that gave us a good vantage point and if bowhunting maybe made a few practice shots. Now, people plant oat patches, maybe scatter some corn and sit in a hut until a deer wanders in for a snack then blast him. I say we used to go deer hunting, but today most just go deer shooting.
Maybe we can go back to clubs like the cavemen. No bow and arrows as Rsndy would say. And fishing just a cotton string on a stick with a fish bone for a hook.. but he sits in a 80,000 dollar boat.

I'm a 56 year old angler. I do not use FFS. That said, FFS can be limited, regulated, or even banned... 75% of the rookie class will remain relevant. As will the next class, and the next next class... so on. The last few tourneys have shown that there was an opportunity to showcase their skills not using it.. and most struggled. The veteran anglers are being out worked. Plain and simple. Randy, can you do a show on that? I would like to hear your opinion. Your a prime example of what I just stated.
Someday they will figure out how to ID fish species , where to cast a lure based on distance and depth, and project that exact spot onto the map on one of the 4 screens on the bow. Lures that propel themself to right in front of the fish and follow it around.
They’re gonna be down there in personal submarines with extendable fishing poles if they keep going this way.
I appreciate Randy's perspective. Two comments: 1. I wish he wouldn't call it cheating. Cheating is breaking the rules. FFS is legal, so it isn't cheating. I wish he would say, "It should be illegal" and leave it at that. 2. I know he doesn't like MLF (even though he fishes some of their tournaments) but he should look at Heavy Hitters going on right now. Scoping is not being used very much at all in this tournament (becasue of the conditions) and look at who is in the knockout round - J. Lee, KVD, Ott, Mark Rose, Poche, Faircloth and Omori are the 8 guys who made the cut from group A. That affirms his point. It's the guys who know how to old school fish who survived.
So many young guys who are absolute hammers dont get noticed as much because spotlighters are so quickly overtaking them and taking away opportunities for them. Guys like Kyle Welcher who are shallow water specialists are being forced to do this crap to try and provide for their families. Change cant come soon enough
I agree that forward facing sonar is changing the sport. I don’t agree with calling people that use it cheaters. That’s a heavy charge to bring to the table specially if guys are fallowing the rules of the tour they are competing in.
Like in other pro sports. Electronics can and should be used in practice to become better. Baseball can track swing path to correct a bad swing. During a game the computer has to be removed from the bat. In fishing. Use ur Electronics to learn a lake. Possibly find some spots during pre tournament practice. Once tournament starts. 2d sonar is all u can use. Use it as a tool to become a better angler. Not as a crutch to watch the screen for when a fish bites.
i can see it being used in pre fishing, but i do not watch either circuit to see video game fishing. i use FFS, but i don't run tournaments. i've learned a lot about fish behavior using FFS.
You can't compare hunting to fishing, though. Fishing you can release the fish and most survive the process. Hunting does not.

I just fished Lake of the Ozarks yesterday with my buddy. NO FFS OR FISH FINDER. Everything was OFF. We caught 42 bass with 62.3 pounds total weight. 15 keepers. 5 fish bag was 18.54. My big fish was 4.65. We had a blast. You do not need FFS to fish and have fun. We watched guys in the same cove fishing FFS and just laughed as we came in behind them and caught the fish they missed. WHY? Because we know how to fish. I'll have a video on my channel up today.
Randy, guess what. I was on Orange lake last week and the FWC creel survey guy came by to ask us how we were doing fishing and how long and all that stuff. But the last question he asked was. "Do you have livescope on your boat" yes he did. I guess Florida FWC is looking into this ffs also. Ha! Ha!

Plus, the Co’s will stop fishing like they have over here in the West because they are tired of getting back seated in open water just casting out into the abyss. FFS= no fishing skill required defeating the purpose of the sport.
