U dang right Randy, if the local is there he has paid his taxes and has a right to fish there, screw the pros!!!
By saying screw the pros, isn't Randy a pro?
@@southernturtleturtle9420far from it. washed up somewhat decent 90s angler
@@nicksapio2557 there are some of us that come here and appreciate Randy's channel for his perspectives on fishing techniques and his insights into the world of the professional anglers.
The term "MY SPOT" sure was used alot in this video, NO SUCH PLACE EXISTS!!! First come, first serve. 😢 Time for the big boy pants. Camp out on that SPOT if you thinks it's yours. Once you leave the, "SPOT" other anglers have the same right as you! ENTITLEMENT 😢😢
Between this, scoping and Wonderboy getting DQ’d yesterday it’s just comical what tournament bass fishing has become.
Thank you for calling him wonderboy!!!! Or maybe mommy pays for everything
Who got suspended? I was out fishing all weekend and seem to have missed it
Trey “Wonderboy” McKinney had his day 2 weight DQ’d because he was late to the weigh-in and someone from his clan called him to tell him, which is strictly verboten in the rules.
Randy what gives you the idea that a pro has more right to fish a point over a local who was already fishing it.
I think what he is saying is that it's just best to try to be considerate to eachother.
Randy didn’t say that. He said it was ok to ask, and if the answer is no the only thing to do is leave.
whoever has the most riding on it gets the spot (its always the pro)
@@swimschool4195BS. If I’m fishing down a bank and they cut me off I’m fishing between them and the bank. That’s the only way they’re gonna learn not to do that crap.
His rods are dope
No Randy, weekend anglers can’t stand ENTITLED tournament anglers who think they have more right to a spot than the rest of us. I’d never do that in my local weekend derby to someone.
All pros are just like children, prove me wrong
I'll bet your boss says the same thing about his employees.
Run my own business, my boss says I’m awesome
I've always said...first come, first serve!!!! If your there first, it's yours, if not, it's theirs!!!!! Always ask if they don't mind you coming in, but never jump ahead of them!!!
Exactly and spot on! Randy knows this along with every pro there is. Simply you don’t cut people off period!
Exactly right, said perfectly
Super douche move from wheeler. Whole sport is getting hard to watch imo
I have fished a lot of years and I'm just learning that if a pro or a local tournament fisherman has a spot on the lake it's theirs for eternity and no one else can fish it if the pro or tournament fisherman is on the lake and wants to fish there. Baloney it's first come first fish. I will not cut you and you should not cut me. Pro do not have special situation but if they ask I might move out of kindness, but understand just because you are fishing for money doesn't make the spot yours.
I was waiting for your view before I got pissed at Wheeler. Some say he was protecting for future. Some say he was protecting for Avena. Some say Becker saw him catching there and went there after he left....still all seems Wheeler was the jerk.
It was quite clear that he pulled up on Becker who was already fishing. There’s a whole river to fish. Give another guy space, especially if you don’t even need the fish. It just seems like Wheeler was purposely being a jerk.
I wish a tournament pro guy would pull up on me and cut me off. It won't turn out like you thought. I fish Lake Ozarks a lot. These guys are very arrogant. Respect is one thing.
Amen @ernestcoleman I feel the same way. Wheeler would have thought who is this crazy guy throwing things at him and begging for a fight. One thing I can't stand is there snobbish attitude when they get on a lake.
You are not doing shit but talking or yelling tough guy 😂😂😂😂😂
@@basscat2107 Try me some day
@basscat2107 You sound like a want to be a guy who thinks he owns the water. Follow Lake of Ozarks tournaments here in the show me state state and find out when I'm fishing and try that shit. Like I said. It's not going to go the way you planned tough guy.
Oh, I wish!!! oh, I wish!!
If Matt Becker was a weekend angler wheeler would've been in the right according to this channel
In the mid 80’s, I had a guide with clients, brazenly pull up on me on Lake Fork telling me I was in his spot. It was about to get ugly when he finally decided to go elsewhere. Public water is “first come, first serve”. The old unwritten rule regarding distance to another boat used to be, never get so close that casts can overlap. Courtesy is gone today. I’ve actually had boats go between me and the bank I’m fishing.
Happens at Fork alot
I don't care who you are.No one owns the lake I respectful but You can be top Bass fisherman in the Nation.I will fish fish my place on my home lake
Pro Bass fishing has gone to Hell
Pros have no more right than I do. I don't fall in line with yalls bs rules.
I played competitive team sports at a good level and found most were decent. I played competitive individual sports at a high level and found lots of good protocol and etiquette. I fished pro bass tournaments for a few years and encountered many mean spirited, unkind, egomaniacs. Not all. But many.
I am a crappie fisherman and I usually call out to a boat that is bass fishing up the bank toward me and invite them to fish on through as I move a short way out. Most will thank me and go around me without fishing the spot. Some do fish the spot and are most grateful and thank me. Either way, I have a great feeling because I did not let selfishness rule my spirit.
Amen! We need more people like you in this world!
Randy I don't think it was determined that weekend anglers generally think they simply "shouldn't move for Tournament anglers". I've seen more people say consistently just be considerate, ask, and communicate. Not just roll in blasting hot on a guys spot he's fishing. Nobody on the lake is high and mighty over another. Period. But it seems that's the aspect long forgotten. People generally just really need to check themselves and their manners. You want to see a guy who conducts themselves properly, look no further than Cooper Galant. There's an angler that has his head on right, always respectful and courteous. There's many more too!
I used to be a Wheeler fan, but over the past few years, there is too much gray area in what he does, This is just my opinion, but he, and his posse, share more info than is acceptable. Wheeler was protecting the spot from Becker and trying to help another of his posse members, Avena, who was close to the cut line as well.
He was trying help Avema and I think it was cool we need a little drama in fishing if not everyone going talk about FFS if not
Bucket jaw....aka boyd's boy was being an ass...again.@@garysanderford1572
Wheeler he thinks he is above any logic. Very sad! Also Wheeler was pulling up on him.
Pro fishing is now the NASCAR of waterworld.
A lot of the disdain that locals have for the pros or tournament anglers in general isn't about them being jealous. A lot of the issues come from the arrogance and sense of entitlement displayed by the tournament anglers.
I was a B.A.S.S member from late 80s to early 2000s. I joined again last year. I don't even look at the magazine anymore. All 100,000 dollar boat ads. Grew up with a pyramid sinker on a string for a depth finder. It's same thing that happened with golf. The technology allows younger inexperienced players to excel without paying dues.
Karma took care of Wheeler today, missed the Championship Round by 4lbs.
He still gained points on 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th place in the AOY points. This was still not Wheelers finest hour. No one is perfect in this world. Wheeler is very competitive, and he is just trying to win. He was just trying to protect his fish for the next round. He still should have let Matt go on and fish.
Yea, a top 11 of 80 anglers is "karma" 🤣 He pulled further away in AOY points, too.
@slayerstacker2074 Wheeler showed who he is! Whether you think it's good, bad, or indifferent your choice to make. IMO, this, along with the Zaldain incident, is just another blow against Tournament Fishing!
I would like to have his karma in my checking account.......stupid statememt
Gotta love KARMA!
Before I even watch the video I have to say I seen the video of Wheeler cutting off Matt and that was a dick move from Wheeler and it made me lose respect for him
The karma bug spike loudly to Wheeler today and rightly so.
They weekend anglers should never have to give up a spot.
TRUTH!
He did it probably to help one of his fish information sharing roommates. One of the livescope crews😮
Matt is a great guy and Wheeler was definitely gonna win so he had no business pulling up on Matt like that
A tournament angler doesn't own the lake and they don't have the right of way whether they are winning a tourney or not.
I think you can count on J Wheeler to just about always only consider how it effects him, and to hell with everybody else..
It is a tournament and a competition.
I've had a few pros tell me I needed to leave a cove I was fishing in. Simply advised them we can fish it together or you can find another location. But 90% of the time they roll past they don't wanna lose time.
From what I’ve seen and what you have to say, I feel Wheeler was wrong. Very unprofessional.
Good advice. Best to have a polite conversation and almost every time both anglers can work it out. Not always, but I've had many anglers give me room to fish if I ask to share the spit with them.
Spot
Funny Wheeler did not make the cut for tomorrow. Love the MLF format. Championship day all start equal.
110% spot on Randy!!!!! That was a major prick move on Jacob's part - period.
Im glad wheeler didnt make the cut today!
Pros should understand that anybody can fish by you at anytime on any lake. Nobody owns a fishing spot on a lake.
On a small lake in ne PA. Had 2 guys pull up within 20 -30 feet of us..6am nobody on the lake....told my son (14 at that time). Fthem.😅..we went back and re fished the lily pads off shore (isolated)..I guided, he slayed them with a wacky worm. ..post spawn 3 - 5 lb fish on most casts. Proudest morning of my life...f those jackoffs.😊😮
Being considerate goes along way
I don't care who you are. If I'm in a spot, I don't have to move unless I want to. Pro or not.
Spot light sniper would never do such a thing 😂
Most of the modern day bass pros are rich kids that have been spoiled their whole life. Most of the good blue collar fisherman I know can't afford the tournament lifestyle.
Wheeler is a Boyd Duckett puppet..straight up…and to your point on local anglers fishing waters when there is a tournament going on…local anglers aka weekend warriors are just as entitled to fish any water as pros are…the pros attitude and how he pulls up on a spot determines if I’m going to leave that spot and let them fish it. If they pull up on a spot I’m fishing and start cussing and getting pissed because a weekend warrior is fishing their so called spot, then forgot it..I ain’t moving..now if they pull up with some common courtesy and go about the deal politely then I will gladly move and give them the spot…first impressions go along ways…I don’t care if that pro is fishing for 80k, 100k, or 20k…
👍
Boyd duckett to Jacob Wheeler is like Diddy is to Justin bieber😂
This crap happens in every tournament. I don't know why it is a big deal !!
I just completely avoid a lake when a fishing event is happening. I refuse to put myself in a position to get upset over a fish. Life’s too short.
I'm reading the first few comments and they need to really listen to what Randy is saying because NOWHERE does he say the Pro has priority on any fishing spot they want to fish.
Me in the MLF: "Here's what we're gonna do. We will get out on the bank over here and last man standing gets the fn spot!"
Cause I believe good sportsmanship can also include teaching lessons.
What do you think after Wheeler’s explaination of the situation?
Every Thursday, my lake has a tournament. They all know I'm there all the time, and it's a good spot from the bank, and i always let them have it. During the week, they'll come by and ask what am i using, and i help them all the time. Some of them would even come by and pick me up, lol
We need to talk about when people say no, it’s not OK. And how people handle that.
That was all the way dirty Randy... youvdont need to play devils advocate lol. That guy needed a fish to make a cut and Jacob didnt... so it was an obviously dirty move.
What a shame that people who only make their living by fishing bass tournaments would be desperate for money.
Who would have thought such a thing?
I like fishing for recreation. Can you imagine that?
The tournament bass anglers arse all babies.i fished musky spots in tournaments when we on top of each other all time due to less fish than bass.you guys need to fish, and whoever gets them, gets em.They need to wave the distance rule
This is going way back to the early 90s. I didn’t really follow the tournaments, so I had no idea that there was one going on at the lake that I was headed to. Upon arrival, I realize that. I was a local so I headed to this long grass flat that I have always fished. And there was a guy on it. Like you said Randy, I got in behind him and started fishing. Fishing where he had already been. And I flipped a jig and caught probably a 3 to 3 1/2 pound fish. And this guy was upset with me and asked me to leave. And I did just out of respect.
If I’m fishing on a lake and there’s a tournament going on, I will go somewhere else. Just out of respect to the guys, there’s a lot of money on the line and I’m just there to spend the day. That’s just how I look at it, not everyone does.
You defended Zaldain, now this post is different 🤦♂️
Yea it does seem to be drama every week but it also seems that you’re in it every week!
Good ole Jacob Wheeler. The princess of the circuit. He can do no wrong, and thinks it!!
I worked every weekend but one during the Summer. I fish on that weekend. One weekend outta of the whole summer. You think I’m gonna let a pro fish in front of me then you are high! If they are Pros they can find another spot better than me. That’s BS!
But But pros are not douche bags!!!! BTW if you are on the spot first then its your spot till you leave i do not give a chit if you have money on the line or not that is not my fing fault!!!!!
Instant douche bag starter kit. New Ranger boat, cheeezy shirt with your name on it and enter a tournament. Instantly a douche at the gas station, bait shop, lake, and life in general
He was guarding a spot playing defense. Nothing like chris. And becker was on a log and had already left that spot after not catching anything
Don Hogue Jr won that Toho tournament. I watched the day 3 of that tournament. What a bass Randy.
Adrian was in the cut but last, Wheeler and Avena are roomates. You do the math. You would help your friend too if money was involved and no rules were broken.
I used to really like Wheeler. I still want to like him but TBH he makes it harder every year. IMO this particular incident was just a low rent/no class move by Wheeler.
he pulled a zaldain
Just swap “pro vs. pro” and “Pro vs. Local” you’ll see it’s the Entitled Pro causing problems. It’s not “your spot”, it’s an open lake, not a private pond. Got to be there first, or move along
I'm sorry Randy, but if I'm fishing a spot and someone else, pro angler or not comes along, they're not running me off that spot. No one owns that spot.
Now if someone politely pulls up next to me, they're more than welcome to join in. I had a little honey hole on a local river, and someone came up and asked if they were biting, and I pointed to a spot and said throw pink spinner right there with a gold blade, and if you don't have one, I'll give you one. He had a yellow/black with a gold blade and it worked. I had my daughter and wife with me, and I didn't want to exhaust the hole, so I actually quit fishing and let the newcomer and my daughter catch fish.
Wheeler showed his true colors. He should hang out with Zaldain.
Its just common courtesy and etiquette to just ask. Best plan I've found is just let it go, however I don't fish tournaments or anything.
seen Wheeler comment on it was a small spot that he had been catching all of his fish on he was protecting it for next day didn't want becker draining it out
We were fishing Bear Creek Reservoir three weeks ago and we just fishing along no tournament just fun fishing and we were approaching a big pocket with some standing timber in it and about two hundred yards away there was a guy in a kayak and when he saw that we we getting close to that pocket he stop fishing and started to paddle as hard as he could to try and beat us to it but he didn’t make it but he went a head and cut us off and stopped right in the middle of the pocket casting all around from all directions some people have no respect I would have never done anyone that way. I’m 76 years old and I more respect but some people don’t.
Maybe there's to many fishing tournaments. Seems alot of these have over 100 boats. State conservation agency's need to limit these tournaments for the betterment of the lakes safety and fish management.
Seems like a jacked up move by wheeler. Although it is possible that becker said time is short and i need a fish to make the cut.. hey let's hit that spot Wheeler has been on.
Here's something all fishermen need to remember when they are on the water nobody owns real estate on the water
I can’t imagine that as long as bass tournaments have existed, and how often this happens, there’s not a tournament rule that addresses this issue.
I’m not telling anyone what to do. If I know a tourney is going on then I can absolutely go somewhere else. If I’m already fishing, I’m not cutting anyone off and I don’t expect it to happen to me no matter what. I’m not going to hog a spot if I’m not making anything happen either.
Whoever was there first gets the spot. It’s expected that if another wants to fish it, they ask and talk it over. Does this always happen? No. I’ve seen plenty of fires up fishermen not want to give up a spot when they don’t have it at the moment. People have just got to remember to keep their cool and just be respectful. A few fish really isn’t worth burning bridges. Maybe a tourney win is, but thats all in the eye of the beholder. Not for me.
Well, I totally agree and during the natural FLW in Henderson, I was up in this place that OT had qualified for the classic in and he knew that I had been up there every day and he came up and he asked me is that your star spot and I told him Yep I’m going there first thing he said well I’m gonna give you till 12 o’clock at 12 o’clock. We’re getting married, I thought that was very fair of him!!
First come first served pro or weekend angler. Pros can make money fishing because weekend anglers buy lures rods reels etc.
no weekend anglers then there would be no pro anglers and they would have to go get a real job. 😮
I don't understand someone thinking they own a spot because they caught fish there. You have to be able to find fish as a pro imo.
First come first serve. Doesn’t matter if it’s a local fishing a spot or a pro….
Pros you do not own the lake
Controversy didn’t happen at wheeler lake but it was skipped over, FFS not a factor. Coincide? Nope
Common curtesy goes along way on and off the water.
I would NOT interfere with a pro. With enough tournaments under my belt I know what he needs. But, the pro should be courteous because some fishermen have no idea when they might effect a pros plan ! On my lake most guys let the pros make their living ,which is a very hard and stressful job.
Thumbs down to Wheeler. Boo hoo. He should have some respect and curiosity to the other angler. Who ever it is. Pro or local. Don’t float up to them. Come on man
This was on point
My spot relates back to bank or shore fishing. Now people wanna own the Dang Lakes.Wow
#1 thing I'd want if I were "Pro", would be a 2nd boat, . . . it'd be un-wrapped, no logos, understated, and totally incognito.
Every time I see one of those goofy looking tournament rigs, I always say, 'The Circus is back in town' !
Randy, come on, man. Wheeler was a good 120-180 yards away when he pulled in. Also, you either purposefully left out details or just don't know what happened. JW found that spot in practice, and on day one was BEHIND Becker on that stretch. Becker caught ZERO fish and moved out. JW pulls in and catches 12-15 scorable fish. Becker knew where Wheeler was when he was getting updated on the scoretracker. He saw him catch those fish. When you said he pulled up right on Becker, I laughed.
How do you defend Zaldain and lay 100% blame on JW?
I guess you approve of Becker catching the same bed fish over and over at Cayuga last year, which pulled him into the top 10 and ultimately beating JW out of AOY by the skin of his teeth. I guess you would be okay losing AOY in that fashion.
well said, Randy. JW could have handled it better.
You hit a sore spot Randy and I am not going to agree with you on this one. "Nobody calls dibs on the tour guide." The Journey To The Center Of The Earth movie nails the phrase here. Calling dibs on a spot is a really, really bad idea. I don't know who came up with the idea that they own part of the water because they caught fish there before but that is just beyond juvenile. I would never think I owned a spot if I caught fish on it and it shouldn't be an unwritten rule either. If somebody is fishing a spot, it is their spot no matter who shows up to fish it later. If they don't want to move, they don't have to. If they want to spend their day fishing one little area, that is their choice, so move on. If I were a tournament director, that would be something I would make clear from day one and if anyone complained they can fish another trail. I don't want to hear about this any more please. It is childish to think a person gets to call a spot their own. "If you snooze, you lose" comes to mind also.
That’s competition love the drama🎣
then there are guys like tommy biffle and alton jones that will get close enough to flip in your livewell!!
When money is involved, the best in a person will always come to light.
There eas an incident on Kentucky lake. Two pro with their boats touching. Then one just left a 100,000 on the table and went home
Just like Chris should have done!
100 yard rule !
The spot or the community hole etc. belongs to first person there.
Im sure Wheeler really cares what any of you all think 😂
I remember u gave tactical bass crap about their tackle warehouse link, your something else, lol
If a pro or anyone else for that matter rolls in on me like that or thinks any spot i fish is theres and tells me to move, we both about to have a bad tournament bc from that point on we gonna keep lines tangled and i will ride around and around you until one of us beats the shit out the other. Its public water but have some common sense too about things you do. Dont do anything that you wouldnt want done to u
Is Randy trying to deflect attention away from the CZ incident?
