I wish I could have seen early Floyd tours but I was just a bit too young, eventually got to see them perform The Wall in London 1980. I prefer the albums released in 1977 and 1975... ...and most stuff from 1965→ 1972
@@The1stMrJohn ...Nick Mason is still touring with his " Saucerful of Secrets " Show. You get all the tracks you can think of in those dates 65-72 you mention. I've seen two of the Shows, and they are Excellent, mate.....🙂🙂
I wish the album version had been fleshed out like this live version... This jam, if worked up could've rivaled some of their best long songs like Shine On and the Animals songs... Also, if David ever tours again, maybe he could look back at this version of OBC and put back together this arrangement. Great, mind blowing jamming!
Agree that this live version is excellent (except for the poor recording quality), and is much better than the original studio version. OBC is an underrated album.
I think that it would have been very great to make a more complex song in this style, maybe like 16-17 minutes long, and to bookend the album, not have 2 short songs (OBC and When You're In) and Absolutely Curtains (which is ruined by the tribal chanting).
@@Syfoll Strange you say that. I loved Absolutely Curtains because it morphed into the tribal chanting. I saw that as very Pink Floyd. Just look at Heartbeat, Pigmeat on Zabriskie Point.
By the way, I was also there! My first Floyd concert was Crystal Palace in 1971(?) with first performance of Echoes, next at Rainbow (debut of Dark Side) and many times subsequently.
@@PaulSutherland I don't know, it just doesn't fit and the chanting is the cliché tribal chanting. If they something with it, I don't know, put weird effects or add vocalisations like on Several Species it might've worked.
