For me Obscured by clouds is an underrated PINK FLOYD's masterpiece , and must remarked this is a BSO '' la Vallê '' , still more complicated to create new songs with this level of quality
The Obscured by Clouds and Meddle albums document the pinnacle of post-Syd Pink Floyd. This is when the band formed their sound. Still deeply rooted in free-form psychedelia, but, due to David Gilmour, more focused on a path towards a horizon.
+Devin McMenamy ...Totally Agree....and I was lucky enough to be at the Earls Concert, WAY back in 1973, still got my programme and ticket stub in fact....Brilliant Concert all round in fact.......
This sounds less like "When You're In" and more like the mid section of "Echoes" developing until near the end. Strangely understated drumming by Nick Mason considering his enthusiasm around this time.
If this was really at the Rainbow in 1973, it's from a benefit Pink Floyd and Soft Machine played on November 4th of that year for former Softs drummer Robert Wyatt, who lost the ability to walk after falling from a fourth-floor window the previous June.
Yes. Quite a few of the songs heard on the film are different takes than those released on the “Obscured By Clouds” album. Note the different lyrics to “Free Four”
Was this at Earl's Court, or the Rainbow Theatre? I tried Googling, but it turned up so many conflicting accounts/results. I know this wasn't Radio City Music Hall, I've heard that bootleg.
I have it on the bootleg Live for a Friend from the November 5th 1973 benefit show for Robert Wyatt. I think this great live version (and others like Childhoods End, Careful with that Axe Eugene etc.) shows who made the real Pink Floyd sound: Richard Wright
@@matiasalanis397 It's the Floyd at their pinnacle live at the Rainbow Theatre. A charity for Robert Wyatt from Soft Machine who fell out of a window becoming paralyzed some days before.
The deal with the Floyd is, they all did acid a few times in their youth, hence knew which world you enter. And they very well knew their whole audience was on acid, so they served them with the sound that get's your mind tripping balls.

More is more underrated. OBC took two full months whereas More was done in one. More is More; More is Less. Talk less, listen More.

The best live recorded performance of this song is arguably from 1973 in Earls Court. This is a great sounding one as well!

Try the one from Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto. My personal favourite.
The Radio City Music Hall version is pretty solid, too.
@@n13roy Wow you lucky dog!
"Obscured" is a true underrated Jem!!💎💎💎🌩🌩🌩⚗⚗⚗
This is the encore from 4th November 1973 at The Rainbow Theatre London.
I think it was David that thanked the bootleggers for their work, because they never thought to do it, and we are so fkn lucky that they did.
This is a bootleg?

On the search for some exotic feathers!😊
11:00 ... Daddy's flown across the ocean...
It's a completely different song, wow. 100x better somehow

I was really pissed that I missed that concert. A friend of mine went and she didn't tell me about it until afterwards. I could have slapped her.
@@dixondiaz8958 damn!
Indeed.
Long PF=Best PF
Muy, pero muy bueno...
PINK FLOYD!
2:30 you can hear this same 2-note pattern a few times in the wall
This song makes me think of a distopic society....without no future, without no freedom. Yeah, we are slaves.
Brave New World
That`s right. And 1984 by George Orwell.
Should think that! That's what Big Brother has done to all of us.
Counter... Jesus is the way, the truth, the life. Love is eternal. All else is sifting sand through your mortal hands.
Everything allright there mate?
Be sure to watch the 1972 French film La Vallée that inspired this.

bro thats psychedelia hands down ! que nivel de profundidad , aun mejor que la version de estudio
Awesome.
Not enough Rainbow in my clouds
Magic
meaning it's really pink floyd
epic
This is pretty old, but this isn't from the UK shows. This is from the NYC concerts.
Nah this really is from the UK. By the time they hit the USA again on the Darkside tour they played this song alot faster and more energetic.
Negative, man. This track comes from the Robert Wyatt benefit concert at The Rainbow Theatre, 1973.
hi punkin'

Damn right. Rick was the true sound of Floyd since the Syd era
Btw I think you meant November 4th 1973. Nothing shows up for the 5th. Thanks for the info though. Made it easy to find. Cheers
n1.......
Sulphuric.
who's the 5th person in the picture, standing next to Waters?
Saxophone player is what it looks like
I'd wager it's Dick Parry, I think he played sax on DSOTM which was around this time. Could be wrong tho
And who’s that to the right of Gilmour?
Obscured by crowds.
Any date/info on this? Is this a real PF recording or a cover band? I have not heard this before. Sounds nice anyway, thx for posting.
originalfunkyfry it sounds like floyd and they used to make their live songs longer

There were no pink floyd cover bands in 1973 haha yes sir this absolutely pink floyd.
#ObscuredByClouds
This isn’t Earls Court
Someones got a buzz and it's not the audience lol Good performance though
it's a bootleg
