I feel like the ability to "empathize" and take other peoples abilities here works perfectly for a manipulator. She literally gets to know people so she can use what she learns about them against them. I also really like how the guy in the glasses handled the situation, he realized that until she gets his ability it's in her own interest not to kill him. Possible scary duo right there.
Edit: Also something I just noticed, in episode 21 the green haired girl was annoyed with Fern for only casting basic spells. That actually makes a lot of sense because their is nothing worthwhile there for her to copy. She can copy technique but she can't copy skill.

You mentioning "carne(?)" made me recall an obscure memory in middle school. Our english teacher was telling a story about a transfer student from brazil who got confused when people started talking about school reports because school report in turkish is "karne". She said it means meat in portugese.

Finally! I TOTALLY Agree that the childish tantrum Fern threw in the second half of the story was way out of line. And worse, Stark and Frieren ENFORCED the behavior instead of correcting it. Fern really showed her immaturity here. (Mentioned this on another channel and they had a different viewpoint. LOL. I could tell they weren't parents. LOL)

Yeah I mean just like with adults you shouldn't reward tantrum like behavior the last thing you want to do is normalize that you'll get what you want if you throw a tantrum

But people think this behavior is cute. Why would she ever stop doing this?

@your_neko Because it's two steps from "cute" to Veruca Salt. Don't get me wrong. Fern Pouts are cute as can be, but there's a huge difference between a frustrated pout (part 1) and a childish tantrum (part2).
What I was commenting on earlier is how Stark and Frieren enabled and encouraged future tantrums instead of telling Fern "I understand you're frustrated" or "This behavior is unacceptable."

I don't really blame Fern. The longest time, she has been the main one, keeping this party running smoothly. From keeping to a schedule to balancing their budget, is it any wonder that she wants to be spoiled every once in a while.

@@bobfrancis123 There are many more problems with Fern's behavior, but it's acceptable because she's cute. That was my point. "Pretty privilege" at its best. As long as heroes (and majority of viewers) see Fern's actions as "cute", she will get encouraged to continue.
Fern is also a self-appointed "mommy of the group". Does the group really need it? Frieren is perfectly able to live without a meticulous control for centuries. Stark is also self-sufficient. So why she keeps giving orders to Frieren and Stark, and guilt trips them for not obeying her orders? But I might miss something, because people mostly see it as a positive trait.

I heard about the censorship, it's honestly really sad to hear and it sets a very bad precedent since more shows might want to do that, such a great show and now artists can't make fanmade content of it anymore

I don't think that Frieren perceives the time flow differently. She rather switches between different mindsets depending on the situation. Through her close relationships with humans she has probably learned a human perception of time, when it comes specifically to relationships.

The fact that Frieren is over a thousand years old and is still living paycheck to paycheck is genuinely confusing to me

she most likely just doesn't care enough to be rich since currency might change, besides, she can easily get work when she needs
