The holes in the hostas are from slugs. Throw coffee grinds on your plants to keep the slugs away! Sprinkle the grinds once a week. It won’t hurt your plants. Your back yard looks great!
Ground egg shells work too
There is an app you can put on your phone called"Blossom". You take a pic and it will tell you what's wrong with your plant or flower. It looks like something is eating your Hostas. Maybe aphids?? Great video. It looks so good. I hope you have a fun weekend.

Arika, I live in Tennessee and have the same problem I mix dawn and water equal halves and spray the hostas but you have to spray them after every rain because rain will wash it off. This has worked for me. They do like morning sun but that's it. Loved this video.

Hi Arika, the little holes are causes from slugs, Just keep mulch and leaves away from them, the slugs like to hide in it. I live in Pennsylvania and have hostas, they do not like sun. They are very easy to transplant, they would work really well around tree base. I hope you are well, and have a wonderful Memorial Day. Always can’t wait for your videos!🥰
Slug or Snail bait will take care of the slugs just sprikle it around your plants.Also the Dawn mixed with water suggested by Robin in your comments is a good idea!
Everything looks so pretty....If you planted perennial plants 🪴 up front that are for full sun it would give you so much color but it looks beautiful the way it is ...I love your front porch so so much I'm jealous..Always look forward to your videos...

The results of your and Marion's hard work looks grand! Fresh, groomed, free of debris - attractiveand welcoming! Suggestion: buy two square pavers (16x16) to put on top of the stone at the bottom of the stairs. That area looks like it gets inundated when it rains and the pavers I'm thinking of (because I have some!) are just over one inch tall and may add a transition that could pay off in less dirt/mud on your steps and deck. Leave the existing (flat) stone in place and if you have any mulch left, use that to level the surface under two, side-by-side pavers. Laundry suggestion: when washing those cushion covers, start the load at night and when the machine is half-way through its agitation cycle, pause it and leave it overnight. In the morning, un-pause and allow the whole cycle to finish. This system has improved results for my dirt-riddled, white gym socks that I wear anytime I'm doing outdoor chores.
With the way you love red white and blue out front. Go get you some red (geraniums) flowers. They love love love sun heat and dry. They bloom right on up to snow. You just have to deadhead them wkly

Some kind of bug or insect is on it. And those pots where you have the trailing vines, cut everyone of them off until that plant totally fills the whole top out and then let them run. It takes quite awhile, but I promise you it is worth it. The leaf does act as fertilizer when it starts to decompose, but they also hold moisture. Girl we’ll make a gardener out of you yet. Your garden looks great! I love the edging! It is great to see you guys working together. That is what makes a good marriage. The little things. Arika just a little add on. I loved the decorations also. They are all just gorgeous! I love the double pots on the chain. Love your door wreath, the bow was just what it needed to make it festive. I loved all of it. Yes those are hosta plants and they have slugs...a very common problem. You can purchase slug and bug granules at most any garden section. I've used several different brands and they all do a great job.

Hiya Arika. But wait there's more. I welcome August the Ant. Wouldn't it be fun to take August on trips with you to show Madisyn he's living well. I kinda need one now. Let me tell you I've been in same home for 29 years now. There is always room for change. I'm with you in decorating front porch. We had our home painted for the first time here. I am ready for a new layout out there. I picked up Macramé swinging chairs to install, I plan on sanding my wooden rocking chairs & reupholstering them. I will have some Boston ferns hanging on each side of door. I feel like my home is even more precious now. We have raised our children & now with grandbabies & fur babies. I'm so very grateful for what I am blessed to have. These rooms are filled with loving memories. I also think I may grab some red white & boom. I wanna create those circular fireworks. Too cute. That bow on your greenery wreath would look so cute attached to your lantern porch light.
Hello Arika, for your front bed peonies would look beautiful in the back of your grasses. You could get them as roots or when they have a sale in a garden center to save money. They love sun and come back every year. Love your channel. God bless💕

It looks great….We always put cardboard down before the mulch, it really keeps the weeds at bay and super insulates during the winter months.
Your porch looks great, but I would remove the paint off the glass on the door. Those vintage doors are beautiful, but imo that paint cheapens the look of it. You will love the inside with light coming thru too! If your crazy about privacy you can put that decorative film on like your kitchen window... it will still filter light for you and look good on the outside. 🥰

Everything looks so festive! If we were neighbors I definitely would join you on your lovely front porch. Have you ever thought of using one or two lanterns with flameless candles on the front porch? They would offer lovely soft light in the evening.
I’m not much of a gardener but this is what I’ve read. Hostas are basically a shade plant. They can tolerate a little sun if well watered. Holes are sometimes caused by slugs. I read that if you sprinkle coffee grounds around them it will help.
Just a little TIP for your front yard get baby diapers make them wet as wet as you can then cut them open and dump them into your dirt and mix it up well. Then use that dirt in the front yard it will help keep your dirt wet threw the hot summer .
Slugs are nibbling on your hostas. Use coffee grounds or crushed egg shells around them. You will definitely need stakes to hold in your edging. Looks great. Porch is so cozy and inviting. You can cut the greenery down in the fall but cut it low. It won’t turn brown that way. I have a lot of the variegated loriope and I use a weed eater to trim mine. Lots of work maintaining flower beds….that’s why mine are crying for help…lol. Love your videos. God’s blessings girlfriend.

Hi from Kentucky, I have many hostas and the holes are probably from slugs (snails), you can put crushed eggshells around the bottom of them or buy snail/slug killer. Hostas like shady sun and moist ground. The lighter color of the leaf, the more sun they can take. And keep your seeds moist (every day water) until they get their second set of leaves. Slugs love hostas. The mulch may help some because they don't like crawling on roughness. You can get slug bait. The only other alternative is to pick them off. They come out when it starts getting dark or if it is wet.

You did a great job he was a lot of help ,you need to wear a garden hat not a ball hat , I do a lot in my yard, I ended up with skin cancer lil under my noise above my lip in March Dr said to wear a garden hat Walmart or target has them , I had surgery I'm doing better I just found you, I really did enjoyed it ill keep Watching have a good day

The plants are hostas. They don't like sun...love shade. The slugs etc love them...like a great treat for them 🙄 Try coffee grains round them. We all have the same problem. They last longer in tubs...stick copper wire round to deter the slugs n snails. And they need loads of water as will the seeds. Good luck. Love your sensible but interesting life you share. You need to get you a bag of Seven for the slugs. They eat off of you hostas. Back yard is looking good. Try day lily for the front flowers. They need full sun and I don't water them after they took hold and starting growing.

There is no-dig borders that comes with stakes that set on top instead of digging. I just bought 1 with 60ft for $40 from home depot. Cut to size. I can't do all that digging. It's easier to cut too. I just used scissors. I was doing the same as you but put dwarf trees in. I also put weed barrier cloth under the mulch to keep weeds from growing. It's made to let water cone through. Just a fyi for future products😊 I know that was a lot of work. Your husband is awesome for helping you. I hope his back is ok. You both did a great job!!! Looks great!!! You porch chair cushions that didn't come out cleaner...dye the seat covers. Easy fix🙂 Btw...I love your channel. It's my #1 go-to channel. You both make a great team🤜🤛

Maybe move the hostas to around that holly tree out away from the roots. Make sure you keep the seeds moist. I agree it's probably slugs eating your hosta leaves. Maybe spread some compost manure over your soil area to help it give it a start with good soil might help also. Otherwise if you planted colorful day lilies, they multiply, and the grassy foliage would look nice with the grassy foliage of the lily turf.

I just painted my decks with Cabot deck correct paint and I’m amazed how well it did on all my decking. Girl it’s expensive but it’s done so well for me I just thought I would share that with you. ♥️I know k heard you mention in a video painting your outdoor stuff at some point. I agree your hosta probably has slugs. Mine looked like that before..
I buy (Sluggo) to sprinkle around the pot, they eat it and die. Safe around 🐈 s and 🐕s....I hope you have good luck with your wildflowers, hope in no time you see yellow, orange, lavender, blue, and white flowers. I was amazed when we planted, I thought they wouldn't take in our alkaline soil out back in a spot that never gets any amendments, but they did. Your porch is lovely. I like those window boxes! It looks great! I also love red white and blue outside all summer! The Japanese Beatles are what put holes on my plants. I have to spray mine with a bug spray to keep them away.
