Mark and Anthony sharing a meal in heaven. RIP to both men. This episode is just part of their beautiful legacy they have given the world. I think of Josh Homme on a day like today.
Same. I hope he's doing well 💚
Heaven is the last place where Mark wanted to go, thank god it doesn't exist :-)
Thinking on Alain Johaness too
More like shooting up junk.
@@syntric it doesnt exist for assholes like you
"I miss so many guys that were around then and are not around anymore you know, some of my friends, but you know that's life".
Rest, Mark.
We miss him now
I don't believe in it, but I hope he is with his friends now.
Had the amazing pleasure of touring with Mark for six weeks last year. A more genuine individual man you would be hard-pressed to meet. He told me Anthony was the reason he finished his book. Anthony was the one who told him to write it.
The world loves you Mark Lanegan!
Knight Fright 🙌🙌🙌
Switzerland too!
Me too
Beautiful and true!
Yep! I’m reading The Mark lanegan memoir and that guy does not give himself enough credit!! One of my faves for sure!
I love these addict survivors. I'm one of them myself. I'm not a celeb chef or a rock star. I'm just a working bum, recovering opiate fiend, not of the doctor shopping pill kind, and who's reading Lanegan's memoirs at the moment. It hurts my soul when guys like Tony Bourdain crash into the earth on a deliberate dive. I can't imagine his private pain, and I'm not in any way critical of his actions. By god it's crossed my mind many a time. But he dragged himself right out of the muck and he learned to fly. He did so for a long time too. He fucking nailed it. I loved the shit he did. It was some of the most entertaining stuff around. He was such an interesting guy, and was so easy to listen to. I seriously dug his stuff.
I guess you can never know people's private pain. Tony Bourdain's loss is a fucking tragedy.
I’m with you buddy! And now Mark
Congrats on your ongoing recovery as I'm sure it is a constant conscious effort to stay on the straight and narrow. Sending you love ❤
@@hankchinaski1962 Jesus Christ, I didn't know.
Are you still doing well? The best
Keep fighting it back fella+. Stay on it. (meaning off it). There’s far better ways to deal with our internal pain. (Keep choosing ways that build, not deplete/destroy you).
With love.
This is heart wrenching, Mark can add Tony to his long long list of buddies who either overdosed or took their own life, Mark Lanegan is a rare specimen in today's world, kinda like a animal on the endangered species list...
Well spoken, unfortunate. but true on so many levels.
We must protect this man no matter what.
Not that he'd need it by a fucking mile either.
and eddie too
I imagine he'd find the mythologising of the death of his friends a bit tasteless.
If you read his book, you’d see how close to death he was himself.
Rest easy you legends Anthony and Mark.
Went straight to this after hearing of Mark's passing, genuinely heart breaking. Hope Tony and Mark are together, somewhere, sharing a beer.
Same here man I really can't believe he's gone
Same!
Same here ...I am 61 and I have loved Mark since the trees ...I am so glad I got to see him once ..I am truly heartbroken 💔 I will read his book again today ..gona miss this awsome man ,may you rest in peace dear Mark 😭😭😭🖤🖤
it'll be more than a beer they'll be sharing..! am heartbroken too :(
@@meltedfrohe's not gone M8. Just been killed. 🤷♂️
RIP 🪦 Mark Lanegan. Your music saved my life more times than I think I know at this point…
that's a heavy dose of melancholy
Wasn't it just... But how beautiful
HEAVY
Lanegan is a legend
Rob Erickson °°Definitely my favorite!
Mark Legendgan
Indeed
Yep. And Anthony.
bourdain is a legend
hard to watch this now. we lost one of the greatest artist left. mark s music hit me so hard i kinda felt like he was a friend. today i feel i little more alone. RIP Mark Lanegan, we already miss you
"That's life." Good answer, Mark.
This is one of the most satisfying clips Ive seen in years. Two legends. Relaxed. Sincere. Gracious and unassuming.
So cool to see Mark laugh and smile
Hurting particularly strong today. RIP, Mark, hope you get to see Tony and all the other legends who, like you, went way too soon.
Life is very fragile and fleeting. I feel it more every day. Rip Lanegan and Bourdain
I never comment on here, but Goddamn, I love Lanegan so much and hearing how much respect Bourdain had for him... it's too much. That shot of him sharing that joint broke me.
m savage - and that respect was obviously reciprocated!
good on you man
Broke me too, man.
We will definitely "remember you through the years you' ll miss" . Have a nice trip Mark...
Man, I've never written a comment on a video before but I am having a very difficult time coming to terms with Tony's passing. Lanegan's voice is haunting and Tony at the bar alone, somewhere there is a metaphor out there about life. In the end you are alone with a soundtrack in your head...this broke my heart all over again. See you in that great gig in the sky tony
Ishaan Prakash I feel you man.
Wow, I felt exactly the same way when I read you're comment. Beautifully said
"In the end you are alone with a soundtrack in your head" Better words I could not imagine. Sad, bittersweet nostalgia along for the ride. Tony at the bar and Mark on the stage. Ghosts from a time now out of our reach.
"She looked past the scars and the burned out eyes
You could see I'm no easy ride
She's just the kind who might get you to buy
Some strange religion" 🎶
Beautiful. Just brilliant. Television at its best. Damn, how I miss him already
Marks music has been such a blessing in my life. Anthony knew how great he was. Truly great stuff.
Benjamin Voss ○•○Cheers!
So underrated, so humble and so damn talented. God I love Mark Lanegan.
Now they hanging out in the clouds.. never to be forgotten.
We love you Mark. Please don't go down that road like Tony did. Your life is important. Everybody's life is important.
Everybody's life is important, including Oprah.
Nope.
Sometimes it is easier to give up, than to go on in this hell, called life.
He's his own man. We can only advise
Sad to see a video of people I both admire, them talking about life, friends, music, their past, and other aspects of life. Makes you really think of life, the limited time we all have, and the simple things like enjoying moments with friends and people you love……. 5:49 Mark mentioned about things or friends that aren’t around anymore and how that is part of life, and now, like Bourdain, he isn’t with us anymore 😔
I love Mark Lanegan's voice, so emotional.....
man, that end scene with him at the bar and seattle talk with mark. damn it.
Onions...onions everywhere
No lie..... good gravy that is powerful stuff.
Wow that end scene hits hard. I've always been a fan of the darkness in Mark Lanegan's music. Not because I'm morose or morbid, but because his music says "life is hard, sad, even tragic- and that's okay". There is comfort there and, if you look hard enough, beauty. Gonna be over here listening to "Whiskey for the Holy Ghost" if anybody needs me.
When was this first aired?
longhorn2615 - the copyright at the end of the credits says 2017. So sometime last year. Another clue are the people harvesting marijuana plants during the "strange religion" lip-sync scene. So it obviously has to be after Washington State legalized pot.
How terrible it must be for Mark...he lost Andy from Mother Love Bone, then Kurt, Layne, Chris Cornell, and now his friend Anthony Bourdain...I lost my father, my best friend, and a few other close friends along the way, so I can relate...death is an inevitable and terrible tragedy...My condolences...
Chuck Touchton man I didn’t know any of those guys personally but kurt and Chris were especially painful for me never mind someone who is an actual friend of theirs!
Now we lost him….
In his words .... "you know that's life"
Wow, watching this again after both have passed takes on a whole new emotion and it feels like the world stopped spinning for a minute. RIP Anthony and Mark, such amazing talented humans.
I will always have a special place in my heart for Mark Lanegan. When Mark sang with Layne and Mike McCready in Mad Season the band gave "new" life to Layne. Layne really needed something to lift his spirits during those rough years, sadly it didn't last.
Lost Layne, Kurt, Chester, Tom, Scott, Mike, CHRIS, and now Anthony... it all sucks
And nobody has stepped forward to fill their shoes. All we get in their stead is mediocrity
Thank goodness Mike Patton is still around
The Mad Season album is unbelieveable great.
Probably the most satisfying clip I've ever seen. Love these men.
Mitzi Wright Ur smile's beautiful :)
RIP, two great men who took life by the horns.
Goodbye Mark. You're home among friends now. Rest easy, good sir.
Anyone watching after hearing Mark passed away?
RIP Mark… your music will forever live
Two legends. One here, one gone.
Met Mark a few times after his shows, impressive character. ...Tony is free now...
great voice, great personality, RIP big lad
Rip to two legends. Life will be much less interesting without the two of them in it
Now they're both gone. So sad to get the news about Mark today. One of my favorite tv moments is still a wonderful celebration. A nice way to remember them right now today...R.I.P
Breaking my heart all over again.
2 great men. RIP Anthony. Good luck Mark. Thanks for your beautifull music.
5:44 says it all. RIP you legend
That was excruciatingly depressing. Rest in peace.
RIP Mark and Anthony, true legends never die
❤
RIP to them both, they both flew beautifully through this life 😥❤️
I got into Mark Lanegan because of this episode. I’m thankful to Anthony for that.
Nic I did the same thing I've been listening to him ever since just haven't smoked any weed listening to it yet LOL
Tina Goodnight Mark takes you higher than the weed
"where i burn where this is no tomorrow!." you can guarantee that sister!
Nic Since Screaming Trees and Mad Season
Check Mark out on the Queens of the Stone Age "Rated R", "Songs for the Deaf" and "Lullabies to Paralyze" albums...
"..and this life might eventually... just be the end of me... but I'll still be with you." Te adoro, Antone.
So dam sad Anthony alone at the bar
😔
Roberta Marcantoni
He seems sad, but then again, whats hell to one might seem like Disneyland to another.
Beautifull episode. Beautifull men. RIP Tony. Love you Mark.
Love Lanegan’s laugh
😍 Me too!! He looks so relax 😓
Somebody said once that we people who are broke inside have the most beautiful smiles ever
RIP to you two beautiful men. Safe passage to both of you and thank you for everything.
Two great guys, gone too soon, may the earth be finally light on both of you Tony and Mark
Me encanta la conexión entre Mark y Anthony se nota que eran amigos ❤
Kinda sad that I always seem to find these great artists after they are gone. Not quite because I loaned his book from our library just a few days before he died. RIP Mark. His biography turned out to be as excellent as some of his better songs. Anthony seemed to be a very nice guy. RIP also.
Two of my most admired men. It broke my heart when Tony died, I'm heartbroken now. Sometimes we are no more than just children.
The shy smile on his face, it must have been a blessing being around Mark Lanegan. Loved by all Nick Cave said, I can totally see that. RIP Mark, you are already missed.
Screaming Trees were (are) one of my favorite all time bands. Great stuff!
That was so beauty and powerful...I loved it watch. Thank you! R.I.P. Both of them great n' cool-head guys, lives forever.
Two of the very best Americans here...what a great and unexpected loss Tony was and what a great survivor and vocalist Mark lanegan is. In the end I guess everyone has to find their own way of coping with the world. No judgement here from me.
okay, this is heartbreaking.
This is most beautiful last 4 minutes I have ever seen.
I'm missing both these beautiful souls. Now they'll be both sitting on a beach, sharing a joint and having a good chuckle about us silly twats still down here! Peace and Love Mark and Anthony
That voice is just beautiful ..rest easy big fellow xx
Thank you Anthony for sharing Mark Lanegans music.
Tony had a rich life. Good life. He lived and died on his terms. Also, Mark lanegan is Badass!
I think he always clamoured for that rock star lifestyle. You can tell he always would try to emulate it.
He also left behind a daughter....
Trond Bie yes. That is honestly the important sad fact. As much as I really dig Tony and LOVED watching no reservations, it is nothing less than shameful and rotten when a man takes their matters into their own hands completely disregarding their offspring that they chose to bring into the world. It's like saying a big F- YOU to your children. I would love to find out that he didn't commit suicide and was killed but, it looks like he did it. Sucks.
Christopher Its so easy to make big judgments when I bet you know nothing about Anthony and his daughter. You know nothing about any dialogue he may have had with her. You know nothing of the preparations he may have made for her. I could judge you from a distance as well and Im sure you would be the first to question me. One thing is for sure, while she has lost her Dad which is very sad, she will have all options and means to recover and follow any dream she has because of what Anthony has provided for her.
Mn B
Assuming all that is true-and I can’t imagine he hasn’t provided for her- there is no way financial provisions can close to offsetting the devastation his killing himself has visited upon her.
I’ve always loved his voice. RIP to both 😢
Anthony Bourdain I'm going to miss you man, your life and work fed the soul of many of us that were hungry and thirsty for exploring the wonders of the world, different cultures and just the plain and simple art of what it means to be real human beings, R.I.P.!
Mad Season :( also Screaming Trees aswell, but Mad Season. :( R.I.P Anthony.
Mark is such a nice man
and he is very handsome and sexy
holly shit, i still cant believe. RIP MAN. And Mark, the greatest.
Weeping.....tears running down my face. This was so moving....
now rest in peace both, thanks for everything , have a good drink and meal wherever you are =(
What a great dude, when you can pass the joint to your camera crew, chilling gazing at the Puget Sound.

I’m rapidly running out of heroes, Mark was one of the last of a special few. Authenticity, depth and pathos in spades. Watching this is heartbreaking. RIP Mark and Tony
RIP Legends x
Two amazing men oh my god I hope you two have met up again I'm so sad that you have both gone and I hope to meet you both soon xx
What a great Episode! BUBBLEGUM my fav. Lanegan Album. Anthony Bourdain, Rest easy King!
Cheers to Mark Lanegan, 4 fucking years later, too. Thx for the music and the attitude.
When this appeared in this episode, I thought.. fuck this man has really good taste! Mark is a fucking legend!
too underrated! Such a badass Episode! Too epic!
Damn. Tough watch now but also fucking beautiful. RIP both of you.
Thanks NerKon, I've never seen an interview with Mark like this. RIP to Mr. Bourdain.
Mark smiled and talked more in these 5 minutes than I ever saw in all of his footage combined.
I've never seen him talk that much either
@@ZanziBarroso Indeed !
I met him in Italy at Pistoia Blues Festival...I took a picture with him...that cheecky smile of his,I will never forget❤
Love you deeply, Mark. It’s being tough
this tears me apart every time

RIP Tony
thank you
Jesus this so hard to watch. 2 legends gone. But it’s so important to watch, there’ll never be a time in our lifetime where we’ll see or hear such important voices in history. Thank you, Tony. Thank you, Mark.
such a wonderful interview and seeing Mark smile makes me feel better :D RIP Legend
I love and miss both of these guys so much. To the rest of us, the world needs grumpy old geezers to keep things right, so hang in there.
I can't stop watching this, it's so well done.
Thank you Tony for all your entertainment!!!!!!! This is my favorite show I've watched because i got ta see Tony Roll a Joint! I love weed.....even though i didn't know Tony personally! I love him like a brother and feel a huge loss! Rip Tony!
Miss you boys, loved you so much
I keep coming back to Whiskey for the Holy Ghost after a few of my own (whiskies), the lyrics of which are some of the finest poems in rock music; they are so raw and they cut me to the quick.
Mark Lanegan's death has affected me like no other musician, his powerful words drew me in to the point where I was living his life with him and feeling his pain, albeit vicariously and in my own very much milder and toned down version of his amazing and incredibly well-lived life. Few other singers bare their souls so eloquently, and so passionately, and he 'clicked' with me from the very first moment I heard 'Strange Religion' at the end of an episode of Californication - criminally late in his career for me I guess, but I made up for it after that by seeing him perform whenever he came to London - I became kind of obsessed, which is pretty strange for a bloke in his forties/fifties, I thought I'd grown out of all that.
I bought and loved his autobiography 'Sing Backwards and Weep', but I just can't bring myself to read 'Devil in a Coma' - maybe I'll give it a while and it'll be fine after a bit more time - strange thing to say about somebody whom you've never even met dying eight months ago, right?
Whenever I see this clip my heart breaks all over again, but then I read the warm and loving comments on here and I feel good once more; that heart is patched over for a while and it's great to know that I'm not alone. And never really was.
Edit: ...and I'm so self-centred I forgot to mention Tony Bourdain in my post too - RIP, both legends!
All those years, listening to Screaming Trees and Mark Lanegan Band; even attending his shows and meeting him a couple of times...
I never knew much about him and after recently reading two of his books, I wish I HAD got to know more about him years ago, so that when I had met him - I'd cherished those moments a little bit more.
We take a lot of things for granted and don't cherish moments of our life that way down the road turn out to be some of the best ones we've ever had. I guess that one of the attributes of becoming wise is learning to value each and every moment of our existence. Unfortunately, this wisdom often comes when most of these moments have already passed, and we are left with dwindling memories of past experiences, wanting with every tiny particle of our souls to re-live them and to engrave them into our memory. Alas, we need to treasure only what we have, and to find enjoyment in the melancholy of revisiting our memories of the events that we now value so much.
Two genuine characters, too good to stay for too long, reminds me of the don McLean lyric, ‘this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you’.
Yeah great line.. I just heard the 'Tapestry' album from Don mcLean the other day, what an amazing album, Don's a great folk artist and an amazing lyricist too!
Probably the best show ever produced (or maybe everything Bourdain did for TV was awesome). And these few scenes... shit... chills...
Damn... life can be a lonely ride.. most of the time.
Damn... so true!
Born to die. So it is. For the whole lifetime the death has his hand on my shoulder.
R.I.P. Tony, ive enjoyed your shows a lot and still watching them whenever its om tv
Man... this is awesome. RIP.
RIP Lanegan... you will be much missed
