    I like how you put most tools back in their spot even if your going to use that tool again. You know exactly where it is then. I'm the same way.

      Our high for today was 94 degrees but with the humidity feels like 113. That's in Ottawa, Ontario. 550 miles to the north. Supposed to cool back down to normal by the weekend. The surface temp of the Alantic Ocean is in the 90's this summer, so ripe for storms and intense heat.

    • @Balticblue93
      @Balticblue93 Před měsícem +3

      Makes zero sense not to use his VP87 and dual Trublu hoses. We ran the ROI and put them on all our rigs. They literally pay for themselves in short order. I would have done a double or triple vac and blast nitro between to knock that moisture out. 500 microns isn’t deep enough. But I don’t use drop-ins and still only sell real R22 as I can still get it reasonably priced and I have a ton of it. One repair pays for the entire tank. But I guess we all do things differently.

    Hey Curtis, quick question if you have time. When I have a charging chart on a unit, I try to go by it as best as I can. Here in Texas it's hot, and most people I deal with keep their thermostats in the 70-72 degree range. Many systems won't get there, but some do. Either way, on many of the current Goodman charts, that puts me in the area of a 1-3 degree target superheat on a 100 +/- degree day. I have never seen you shoot for a superheat that low, and you made the comment today that you often look to 10-14 under normal conditions. Here we were taught to shot for 5 when we don't have a chart. If you have any wisdom to share on this, I would be appreciative.

    • @TM_Stone
      @TM_Stone Před měsícem

      Many won't? I live in North Texas and my son-in-law's last house plus the one he's in now sets it in the high 60s.

    • @user-do9kj8nx8w
      @user-do9kj8nx8w Před měsícem +1

      @@TM_Stone Your insulation will have a lot to do with it. My neighbor has an 18 SEER. She sets it on 70, and it never kicks off. It will only pull down to 72. 20 degrees below OAT is a common rule of thumb in the industry. Head pressures go up significantly when it gets over 100. I can normally keep all 4 of mine in the low 70s/high 60s, but they're heavy units.

    • @TM_Stone
      @TM_Stone Před měsícem +2

      @@user-do9kj8nx8w I agree 💯 with you. In the examples, the houses were brand new so good insulation. I don't think it's good they run it that low for many reasons. And to your point, it never shuts off, especially with the July and August heat.

    Thanks to Curtis and his video's I saved $439 replacing my own contactor...HOWEVER.. when I took off the panel to explose the electronics, I found the contactor just being held in place by the wires. There were no machine screws holding it in place(there were 4 sets of 2 screw holes for placement)..the problem is I have no clue what size machine screws go there to hold the contactor. Can anyone help?? I don't want to drill new holes with self tappers....
