Don’t you hate when I know it all, stands there and gives you “help “.
🤣🤣🤣 word.
i love people that screw stuff up call someone to fix it then stand there and tell you how to do it
He used the flares that came on the lineset?
Bless his heart...🤣
I just put a Daikin 18K minisplit in yesterday.... my first one. I read the manual while I was waiting on the other guys to get to the job site. The key part is to read the manual.
And having the right tools for the job. A wrench is not a torque wrench 😅😅
The proof is what I saw. Over tighten fittings resulting in crushed seals.
Those copper rings in the brass flare reducers are flare bonnets. They create a seal between brass to brass flare connections. Put a bit of nylog or zoomspout oil between the surfaces. Man you sure got a lot of patience. Guys like that just double the time and concentration required to get the job done. 🤣
Good lord, that guy needs to shut his trap. He doesn't know how to take a hint does he Curtis? LOL
He’s Curtis’ Landlord so he has to Act somewhat Nice. 😬
@@kens.3729 I know, but for crying out loud, man. That guy needs to breathe between sentences. I could tell Curtis was ignoring him for the most part.
The old man doesn't have any one to talk too. So Curtis is the next person who he can talk too. I see many old people all they want is someone who they can talk to.
Some of us don't want to be bothered by anyone. Maybe because the spouse does all the yakking at home.😅😅
That’s a sure sign of unhealthy anxiety.
You are going to be sainted, no doubt in my mind.
The appion core tools are the only ones I’ll use for vacuum
This Easy “Pull a Vacuum” Job should be Equivalent to one (1) Month of Free Commercial Rent. 😬👍🙏
😂
2 months
FOR REAL!
don't you just luv expert shadow gabbers...🤣😆
Nice work and great patience 😊
Thanks
I had the same experience with the Navac core removal tool. Appion all the way!
I just asked my wife why I watch these videos! 🤔
I drive truck "for a living" 🤣
Keep up the honest, good-natured work you do for people! 👍
Nice work Curtis. The guy should have paid you to install it.
Yep
100%!
Or offered money off the rent! He obviously wasn't interested in paying someone to do the work he did himself 🤣
I always enjoy watching your videos. I’m learning something new from every video.
Thanks
Great job Curtis getting that mess straightened out thanks for the video
Thanks
I’ve had 2 mini split units installed, one 2 years ago (single head) and another new one (triple head) within the past week. Same brand (Gree), and the same tech doing the installation. Some of the line sets are long so he cuts off every flange fitting and brazes them together and never gets call backs for leaks.
The High silver content rolls at RSC work perfect for that
Remember... New Means New... Does not mean Good
I got to hand it to you man you're good with customers I want a head problems
I find with those core removal tools that I have to pinch the core grabber so it lightly grips those cores. You'll need to push to snap them in
Its always when its for a friend or family it just turns into one thing and another. I had a similar experience with that navac junk I tossed it sticking with apion. I got so much respect for you for taking the time and going above and beyond for your customers every single day. I like to think im wired like you I look up to you and respect from cali 💪 👊
PLEASE!! DON'T double torque your fittings!! once the torque wrench beeps THAT is a proper tightness. If you beep twice or push the tightness past the first beep YOU are OVER torquing the fitting!! ( I am a retired metrologist that tested, adjusted, and certified (among aprox. 7000 other instruments per month) torque wrenches for a large aerospace company.
I love and have learned so much from you i thought i would offer this little bit of advise to help better the high standards of your skills Curtis.
Thnks
Good Gawd the Yacking Carl you had to deal with!
I keep a couple pairs of earbuds that I’ll put in and then just not answer!
I’ve had great luck with Pioneer but had one unit that the valve was stripped and I couldn’t do a full recovery. The model year I had were known for poor threads on the valve because I only use a T-Handle on Mini-Splits after being blamed for stripping a valve, Once! Ha
When I installed my minisplit, it had precharged lines, condenser, and evaporator and didn't need to be evacuated.
But you paid for that. Vacuum pump is cheaper than pre-charged everything. I'm not sure why he hired an installer instead of just buying a vacuum/equipment.
WoW things are a lot more complicated than people think !!! 😢😢😢
Yellow jacket 19047 gasket removal/install tool. If you don’t have one, they’re cheap and worth having.
Thats what I use. I got tired of fighting with those things.
Nice job 👍👍👍
Thanks 👍
Buy and install a mini split yourself they said. It’ll be easy, they said
Good video Curtis
Thanks 👍
I don’t mind when my customers watch me work, I actually like it because they usually don’t understand the amount of work involved in installing or repairing an HVAC/R unit until they see it for themselves. But when you get a customer that is constantly talking like that it can be very distracting and frustrating, especially when you are trying to troubleshoot a problem. I have also had the same issues with the Navac core removal tools after a couple of uses, waste of money. I went back to the good old tried and true Appion.
I did the very same thing about 2 months ago. Went to connect piping on a system and encountered this very system. Took me a while to figure out that I had to open the valves on each circuit in order to evacuate the entire system. I install LG most of the time and they are a bit different. You gotta love DIY installers. Just gooder enough, right?
If for some reason you damage or lose the copper flange you can get a pack of copper washers at harbor freight and use those…they are made of soft copper and will conform to the angle
I’ve always tossed those things.
Never had any issues with leaks either.
I bought a box and the label says for electrical applications. Still look like crush washers to me.
@@wallacegrommet9343 I’ve always used them for banjo bolt seals
Great video!! Use electric cleaner from Home Depot to clean your sensors. I’ve lost 2 with alcohol believe it or not
It's always disappointing when you buy things expecting them to work good and then when you actually use it, you discover it's junk. 😢
Just pull a vacuum, that's a laugh. Then he was going to tell you how to do it.
Looks like you had a knuckle buster 😢 day
Couple of them
Of course it wasn't that simple, never is!!!
Pressure test with nitrogen first , would save a lot of problems
Yep. Could have put nitrogen, saw it was leaking, and gave him your hourly rate for install.
that guy welded the uni-strut
Man! What a very important video for us! So much to deal with and obstacles! I am in the middle of a install of a Gree 5 zone system. My New Appion Low Vacuum core removal tool only worked for 2-line sets. After that it would not pull down below 1000 microns. I think the Nyloc sealant might be stretching out the O rings? I am waiting for my new Navac core tool. Then I see this! I do have a Yellow jacket core tool and this one seems better. What do you now use?
deez
Is there a warranty for the valve core remover try to contact them directly im sure they’ll try to take care of you
I had 2 navac core removers fail, don't use them!😅😅
I've had a few people call to finish their work (youtube university graduates) and I usually walk away because they expect DIY pricing but need to be at Sunday at 10pm pricing. A few will pay the price to do it all........quality controlled goes smooth. Most issues with newer installs, even with contractors, are leaks....poor flaring with Amazon flare tool. Hope he covers your rent for a month or so. Good job Curtis....with your work and your ability allow his presence...LOL
So much equipment today is made in China and is total junk! I am an auto tech, but we face many of the issues with equipment. At least you found the issue.
That's why i NEVER use valve core removal tools. They are just not worth the grief. more often than not They Leak ! Good video. Also - at 20:35 did u put a copper sealing ring where the flare nut copper line set attaches. wouldn't that be copper flare on top of copper flare on top of brass flare. if so , putting a copper sealing ring on top of a copper flare is not going to seal properly.imo.
At least you know where the leak is 😅. I was gonna say send me that core remover it would match most of the rest of my aging fleet 😅😅. Guess that one needs to go back to the manufacturer either that was one of a kind or they have a problem. You ever use Nylog on the flare fittings? Just enough to allow the flare to settle into the male part of the fitting might help. When I win the lottery I’m buying a Navac automatic flaring tool but I gotta play first 😅. Btw everything in bloom at your home looks great. Grass and a few trees are budding up here but they’re probably doomed as we will see too many frosts yet here in the mountains
That’s why I only buy Appion valve core tools
IT'S a shame your own equipment fails you. I use to hate that .Made me work even harder than I needed to .
Those Helicopters are bad these days. DIYers doing their own Mini Splits then asking you to repair before it starts running.
Gramps will still tell people he did it himself.
I would never assume that a do it yourselfer pressure tested. Nitrogen and leak check always comes first.
It never never is
Question. So when you initially started vacuum and realized it wasn’t doing anything. It’s because your valves needed to be open first.
He sorry? Still talking 😂
What brand of torque crescent type wrench did you use?
How’s that helicopter doing?
👍👍😊😊
Only way I'd take that job would be to have the customer agree to starting from scratch or, installation. This hick farmer dude sounds like he knows just enough to be dangerous! LoL
Oh my, oh my…
What did you do to your righthand fingers
Gotta love a gabby helicopter! Should charge 2x .
I'd take that core tool back or send Navac a email about it.
The problem was with his equipment not the original installation
I thought the lines should have had vacuum already pulled??
There are some that come precharged
@@HVACGUYok
Appion only here
Helicopter
What happened to your hand?
Which one? 😂. I froze it
If you don't know what you're doing leave it alone because it sounds like this guy didn't know what the hell he was doing
What happened to your fingers? Frost bite?
Yes
Nylon them o rings
Cut the flares and braze.
Try to avoid brazing at all cost with these units, the orifices are tiny and will get clogged with tiny particles
God knows all he had to do is work out a deal with you as far as installing the unit 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Why you did so a lot of stupid job???? Just for money??? Any PRO will start this job to pressure by nitrogene, to eliminate these "discovery"... a lot of overprised equipment and, unfortunately, lack of knoledge...
