  • In this video I will show you how to install the 1up USA Super Duty bike rack! these are some of the best bike racks in my opinion, as they are build from high quality aluminum and will literally last a lifetime! I bought the single and the add-on, and I'll be installing it on my Tacoma with a 2" hitch receiver!

    It handles my fat bike with 5-in tires fine as well once you add the spacers to widen the tire holds that come from oneup

    Great video that covered what I needed to know as far as how easy it is to install both the single and add on, and can figure out how easy it is to remove and adjust. I really like how solid it is which makes up for slightly more effort to adjust. Nice work!

      @@BenCarano I just ordered the super duty one yesterday. It was between this and the Mach1 that is 1/3 more expensive. I plan to just leave it on most of the time so this one is perfect. So much better than the other others that can rust apart, and look super bulky. The 1up looks great, rugged, and can add on another trey or accessories. I"m going to get the LED brake light also, or something off eBay.. Been rear ended a few times. Your video was so much better that some of the others that complained about minor things.

      @@BenCarano Just installed mine and love it! Exceeded my expectations. I got the single for now and will get the add on.. I exact the black paint to fade but can paint it again. It was super easy to install and operate. I like the simplify, heavy duty, doesn't block the back hatch or back up camera. Not sure if I'll get extender for the grab bar, as I also like how clean it is without extra hardware. It's easy enough for me to operate, no problem. I"m totally stoked with this rack! Perfect for me!

      @@ceciljohn09 amazing to hear!! Yah it’s such a great rack!!! My paint is still totally fine, it’s just the anodized blue and red levers that are basically faded to white. Such a nice, simple and sturdy design worth the investment though!!!

    Can you comment on color preference or any advantage of the aluminum compare to the black version. I have a white SUV.

      The super duty here vs the black heavy duty is that this one has a slightly higher weight rating, otherwise if all you carry is bikes then either one would be fine! I believe the black one also has a slightly wider wheel tray

    Do the handlebars clear the canopy when the bike is on the inner rail? I have a canopy on my Tacoma too.

    • @BenCarano
      @BenCarano  Před rokem

      yah for me they do, and I have 780mm bars! However if you have the topper that goes higher in the back instead of the consistent one the door might be too big and hit the bike. Mine will still hit the grips but it opens all the way first so I can still access the back

    The "hitch lock" looks more like their wheel lock than a real hitch lock. It provides minimal security at best. It's unfortunate the hitch slot is too narrow to accept a real hitch lock such as the Bolt. The rack itself is good for holding a couple of bikes, but 1Up racks in general can be quickly dismantled (and bikes removed) with just a few wrenches. One really needs to chain the bike to the trailer hitch itself and not just to the rack.

    • @BenCarano

      or just be like me and never keep your eyes off the bike 😂

      @@BenCarano Agree 100% for local rides. A bit more difficult for road trips though. Driving back from Portland to NorCal after STP we stopped at Crater Lake and again at Mt Shasta for a short hike. Very low risk environment but we were away from the bike for about an hour so I used heavy duty chains to chain it to the tow hitch. Would scratch the bike if I drove with it attached but fine parked. Just wanted to ensure everyone knows it is inadequate just to cable/chain to the rack itself - one must secure it to the body of the vehicle somehow. This may be true of other bike racks as well - I'm only familiar with 1up which I've owned a couple of years now. Apologies if this came off as negative - very happy with it as a rack.
