    Why do buzzards eat dead things?
    uh, Chokfiꞌ, uh, koloffittook.
    [Someone] had cut Rabbit.
    Naalhpoobaꞌ alhihaꞌ alikchiꞌ hoohoyottook.
    The animals were looking for a doctor [for Rabbit].
    Katahaat Chokfiꞌ imalikchaꞌhi bíyyiꞌkataa?
    Who could doctor Rabbit?
    Shiikiꞌ aachika̱
    Buzzard said,
    "Anaꞌako imalikchilaꞌhi bíyyiꞌka."
    "I'm the one who can doctor him."
    Shiikiꞌ aachikat,
    Buzzard said,
    "Aashachaklaꞌ micha windaꞌ táꞌ ishokshittakma̱,
    "If you close up the cracks and the window,
    imalikchilaꞌhi bíyyiꞌka."
    I can doctor him."
    Chokfiꞌ imalikchittook.
    He doctored Rabbit.
    Chokfiꞌaash yá̱a.
    That Rabbit was crying.
    Naalhpoobaꞌ aachikat, "Kati̱h yá̱a?"
    The animals said, "Why is he crying?"
    um, "Imalikchilitoko̱, yá̱a."
    "Because I'm doctoring him, he's crying."
    um, "Imalikchilit tahlilaꞌo̱si oma̱* ishpisa'hi bíyyi'ka.
    "I'm almost through doctoring him, then you can see him."
    Imalikchi ishtaya.
    He started to doctor him.
    Micha chokkilissa.
    And it got quiet.
    Shiikaash aachika̱
    Then Buzzard said,
    "Imalikchilit tahlili."
    "I'm through doctoring him."
    "Hashmínticha, hashpisaꞌhi biyyiꞌka."
    "You all can come and see him."
    Naalhpoobaꞌ alhihaꞌ hoochokwaaꞌcha
    The animals got in the house and
    pisa. Pisaka̱
    they looked. When they looked,
    "Hashchokwaaꞌcha, hashpisaꞌhi biyyiꞌka."
    "You all come in and you can see him."
    Foniꞌ íllaꞌ tíꞌwattook, aachi.
    There was nothing but bones laying there, they say.
