    In 1968 I was a matrix setter (what you call the stamper), on the RCA press floor in Indianapolis IN. I had a row of 6 women who each ran 2 presses each.
    I can still scan a record and spot things like dents, scratches and mold marks. Some defects I could repair by pulling the matrix and cleaning the back
    Sometimes it couldn't be repaired an had to be sent back to the lab. In that case if s new matrix wasn't available for that side s different run of a new record was started.
    We pressed some of the first Abby Road 33's in the US under contract to Apple.

    I know it's been a while but what was the shipment that was going out that you couldn't say anything about?

    Thank you for filming this interesting look into the world of QRP. Is it true these guys closed their doors? If so that is really unfortunate. Looks like they really care about the quality of vinyl and SACD/DSD discs that are going out the door. I also favor Classic Records pressings on vinyl as well. Just bought a Analogue Productions pressing of Cat Stevens- Tea for the Tillerman 2LP set.

      +PearlJammer07 They DID NOT close their doors so not sure where you heard that as, in fact they've been expanding. They recently purchased many more vinyl presses too :)

    Does this plant have a DMM lathe? Peace.

    • @michaelhorgan9525
      @michaelhorgan9525 Před 2 lety +1

      No they do not have a DMM lathe. Acoustic sounds does own the Mastering Lab, but is using other engineers to cut their records. Only 2 DMM lathes in the US are owned by $cientology.

    it sounds completely like ANY classic record production technique. the person being interviewed failed to describe what makes them unique or 'higher quality'
