Never understood why fighters just don’t fight at a natural weight. Cutting weight then rehydrating would be an advantage if you were the only one doing it, but when every fight does it, there’s absolutely no advantage.

Gotta find a way to do away with weight cutting that actually works. ONE FC is trying with the hydration tests but they aren’t super effective. Doing away with weight cutting in combat sports will be the fastest way to see the entire talent pool rise and you’ll see far less wrestlers/boxers/judoka being burned out before they reach the highest level.

Weight cutting should be illegal, they should weigh each fighter just before the actual fight. That way everyone fights at the correct weight in the correct class and most of all healthy.
Can somebody explain why the fighter don’t fight at a weight that keeps them at their optimal performance? I genuinely have no idea why these cuts are as aggressive as they need to be because surely this is causing serious issues, short, mid and long term.

Never understood why fighters just don’t fight at a natural weight. Cutting weight then rehydrating would be an advantage if you were the only one doing it, but when every fight does it, there’s absolutely no advantage.
The levels these people go to just to have an advantage pisses me off! He’s clearly not fighting in his natural weight division he has to cut all that weight for a weigh in only to pile it back on the day after to have an advantage! Respect to the real ones who don’t cut huge amounts of weight and actually fight people who weigh the same.

Putting yourself through hell to be average and never sniff a title seems odd to me.
You can always see who has experience cutting weight. Another reason wrestlers win more often.
Gotta find a way to do away with weight cutting that actually works. ONE FC is trying with the hydration tests but they aren’t super effective. Doing away with weight cutting in combat sports will be the fastest way to see the entire talent pool rise and you’ll see far less wrestlers/boxers/judoka being burned out before they reach the highest level.
This is why fighters need to be weighed the day of the fight. You can't suck yourself down like this they're killing themselves.

Most don't understand but there's a special point where it really hits so much different. I did a weight cut from 190 to 164.8 and it really wasn't till after 170 did it start to feel fierce which is my usual cut

Weight cutting should be illegal, they should weigh each fighter just before the actual fight. That way everyone fights at the correct weight in the correct class and most of all healthy.
