who's here after UFC 300?
Everyone instantly remembers max getting his ass kicked 😂
@@Styles1991hater!
I came back to this video to see how much more max improved and not for getting his ass kicked
Max is the best boxer in UFC
Tf how u know😂
It's criminal that we didn't get to see these guys run it back in their respective primes.
IMO Max is still in his prime... Conor was an animal back then! Conors definitely not this Conor anymore 💪 edit: thanks for the likes!
@@Kngzla23max is amazing, it’s just sad we got people like volk and Islam
@@pkstarrrstorrm yessir! Islam and Volk are like those bosses you just can't beat 😂
This WAS Conor in his prime. Fighting at a light weight, staying light on his feet, pressuring yet staying at range
@@MMAVoodoofeatherweight but you’re 100% right this was prime Conor
Crazy watching this back and seeing Max’s improvement with his hands. And to see how fluid Connor used to be before he switched his style
or taking drugs like crazy and drinking
Max also throws that low side kick to the knee nowadays too. Conor landed it at will in the first round.
Young 145 Conor was a beast. You can see how much bigger and stronger he was then max and how much that determined the fight . Even just the power of strikes was at a different level...max def has incredible hands but Conor was so unorthodox and had the feet to boot back then
No es que max no fuera bueno con sus manos, hay mucha diferencia de alcance y connor manejaba muy bien la distancia y el timing del combate
@@thomascali4694por fin alguien que razona, a connor lo arruinaron los vicios
I really appreciate Joe's detailed commentary in this fight. Super informative
actually cool to see him nerd out when he's commentating, he clearly is passionate about the sport which is why hes such a great commentator
@@losingapathy I prefer his commentary to basically all the other commentators. Based on the other commentators that I've heard, Joe almost always sounds like he's the only one that knows what's going on in detail.
@@r.f2173 yeah compared to people like DC that just kinda mumble or say "wow" when stuff happens i really appreciate what he brings to the table
conor was scary back then!! new mma fans thinks he is just a trash talker but bruh this guy was scary!!
“Was”
@@Jorge_masvidal27yeah so was masvidal and silva and many many others whats ur point
I think this is exaggerating, Max was 22 years old in that fight.... he was just beginning his career.
@@elverdugo6964conor was also begging of his career that was just his 2nd ufc fight .
@@skimask5933 Masvidal was never scary bro... real fans knew that dude wasn't legit
Featherweight Conor was just built different, his run at 145 is legendary.
Think he tore his ACL in this fight too, at the end of the second round.
I miss this conor

Word. Max and Justin both would kill Conor now

@@thetony8959 no
Crazy to see what a primed and focused Connor looked like. Max has come a long way also. Two legendary guys in the sport for sure.
Conor’s biggest issue is he lost what made his standup game good. He adopted a boxing heavy style and became heavy on his feet. He use to be light on his feet and use his kicks to create distance and set up strikes and the pace of the fight.
he seemed to lose a lot of his speed in his recent fights compared to his 145 run. idk if its also bec of him going up in weight or also a result of him being heavy on his feet
@@TheFN19 I think its definitely him going up in weight and his cardio getting compromised as the result. The cut to 145 wouldve been detrimental to his health if he kept it up as he aged.
@@TheFN19definitely because he changed up his style, arguably his best performance was against Eddie at 155 and he looked lightning fast in that fight.
He boxed Floyd and fell in love with boxing, thinking that he can bring that back to MMA.
After he fought Floyd is when that sparring video came out of Conor using that new high guard, planted feet, boxing heavy style and you see him get hit loads by his sparring partner.
It's got barely anything to do with the weight. him light on his feet, unpredictable and pressuring his opponent into running into that straight left is by far the best Conor we've seen and he threw all of that out the window for a style that doesn't seem to work nearly as well
Conor's style was never compatible with the new era of calf kicks. Look at his stance vs Aldo, Alvarez etc... in this era he would have been chewed up before he got into boxing range
MMA evolved a lot, the level back then was much lower. His style would not work as well anymore. He expends way too much energy doing wild kicks that don't do a lot of damage and hes very vulnerable to calf kicks.
Imagine telling this man he'd be #1 on the forbes list. He'd probably believe you.
He'd probably would have said he's already there
@@sayville_silverand probably would be funny back then lol
Imagine telling this to a cage fighter at that time. Inspirational he achieved it. This shows we can achieve great success in our own field
Absolutely
He Would actually lol
Dear UFC, can you guys please start putting the dates these fights happened when you upload them? Thanks.
poverty conor was just different
Poverty conor, lmao
Lmao exactly
Man the volume and pressure by conor in this fight was just a piece of art
Eddie Alvarez was Conor's true canvas.
Volume and pressure that Holloway would go on to break his future opponents with. Honestly think this was quite pivotal fight for Max.
@@rustyshackleford69420_absolutely the best stand up performance to date.
@@Fightconnoisseur96besides losing a SD to Bermudez before this fight Max was on a 3 fight win streak before this and went onto a 13 fight win streak after.
Conor was able to dictate pace, pressure, and distance using his kicks, which came hard and fast at the body from the front, side, and with both legs. He doesn’t do that anymore. He just wants to box and boxing alone is not enough in this sport.
Such a fun fight for 2 fighters that would both achieve great things in the UFC. Run it back at lightweight in 2024.
Catch weight 165
@jeepsrtslw That's 5lbs .. That's not a catch weight. That's advantage Conor
conor eats max at lightweight bro
@@jeepsrtslwconor aint no welterweight he’ll be cutting again

This Conor was a different beast. An absolute joy to witness.
Who's here after UFC 300 🥶🥶🥶
me. max really developed and improved
Lol literally everyone who ever watches this will be here after UFC 300
this was one of conors best performances IMO. the movement, flow, and creativeness in his striking.. he pretty much created his own style that worked for him and he would execute beautifully. this was the martial artist that truly distinguished him from anyone else i'd seen
Even compared to Adesanya who created his own “stylebender” style?
@@teeanahera8949bro wtf 😂😭
With a torn ACL too
And the takedowns and the pursuit to get into greater positions
@@teeanahera8949Anderson Silva did it first
When Rogan said “I’m sure Conor is well trained in psychological warfare as well”…. Well we all found that out didn’t we
Thankful for Robbie Lawler vs Rory MacDonald that fight was absolutely insane Forever one of the best fights that doesn’t get enough love
Connor looks like a kitten playing with his meal 😂… the way he moves his hands is just like a curious cat.
Insane to think this was just another prospect vs prospect at the time. But these guys have gone on to be two of the most notable mma fighters ever.
I wonder if there’s any fights that could be made like that now with the same potential.
Tsarukyan début in the UFC against Islam makagev is pretty wild too
St Denis vs Arman maybe
usman vs strickland
Probably loads of them we just dint know yet
Unlike Mystic Mac you can’t predict this shit.
his use of kicks during this fight is unbelievable. never seen someone use kicks so creatively and freely. guess this what bruce lee meant when he said "be like water" 😂😂
такие удары ногами это шоу ,хабиб вам это доказал ,это не бой а цирк для вас
@@user-lu1qw4su6wkhabum is married to his cousin.
145 Conor 😂
Jon Jones also has this never ending arsenal of kicks
@@user-lu1qw4su6w lol that is because Gregor's style when fighting Nurmegedov was already different. He was already not Bruce Lee when they fought. Gregor messed up his fighting style and relied more on his left. Truly big loss for Gregor but If He didn't change style, this kind of Connor could Kill Khabib
After this fight, Holloway adapted the "no defense punch me in the face style" from Conor.
“Ohhh, so you’re a wrestler now”😂
@10:00 he tore is ACL. So groundwork was his best option to win this fight
always is good to see vintage version from this fighters. Conor, Holloway, Aldo, Poirier, Zombie, Egdar, RDA…
Vintage aldo is special edgar to that yair beating holds a special place in my heart
I love how much respect both showed during this fight, they both still talk about this fight very positively to this day from what I’ve seen and that makes me happy
Of course no one makes stupid riots in the ring after the match, you know
Incredible how much Max improved after this performance and entirely transformed his style
Nice work by both. They both kept moving. Awsome endurance from both
The way Conor was touching up Max was insane. I think that KO's any other FW.
well it technically did which is the crazy part 😂
2013-2017 Conor was insane🗿
9:19 On a podcast Holloway said that Conor hurt his knee while on the ground and yelled in pained and Holloway asked if he was ok(that’s when Joe says they’re talking to each other) and Conor responded by saying “yeah yeah keep on fighting mate”. Crazy how hungry Conor was back then!
wrong, mcgregor popped his left knee with 17 seconds remaining in the 2nd round. you can sed it
@@alexgallagher637wrong, you can literally see at 9:20 Conor isn’t even trying cus he’s in pain and Max is talking to him

Miss this Conor look how loose we was back then
he didnt have that Gorilla on his chest that weighed him down.

Conor tore his ACL in the second round.. it explains his style in the third round and he actually got some amazing, clean takedowns.
Conor torned his ACL towards the end of the second round when he is trying to pass Max's guard. Which explains why he's going for more takedowns than usual in the third round. You can feel during the last minute of the third round that he's not as comfortable on his feet as he shoots for a single leg real quick.
Great decision making on the fly whilst suffering from a very painful injury.
Fantastic fight between two legends of the sport!
Yes, in hindsight, it is so obvious to see why there was a change in the game plan going into the 3rd. Master-class.
I was looking for this comment. I imagined something happened when he started shooting.
@@scorpionsubzero9066 Yeah. Max said on a podcast a while back that Conors knee twisted on the ground and he let out a scream. Max said he asked Conor if he was okay, to which he replied "Yeah. Keep fighting mate". 🤣
@@RhinosAreAwesome gosh! That's crazy 😂.
@@scorpionsubzero9066 Lmfao. There's a bit in round 2 when Joe Rogan says "They're talking to each other but I can't hear what they're saying". Well, that must've been it I guess. Haha. 💀
You can see Max took a lot from this fight. If he hadn't fought Conor, I don't think he becomes champ.
same with poirier, i think they both took a lot from their fights
Both porier and max went on winnings streaks after their loss to mcgregor
Ong, even the open hand taunting for a lack there of a reaction/opening off of anger worked in maxs favor against aldo which he got from conor

Mush respect for Conner's fighting prowess and business expertise. A pinnacle of a self-made man!
What a fight to come back to with the benefit of hindsight and what was in store for these two. So interesting to see aspects of what they’d become even so early but also see a less polished version of each.
The rise of Conor was something else. Unprecedented and insurmountable. After that Charles Oliveira's run comes to mind or Alex Perreira in terms of pure entertainment value and not just wins coz there r better fighters but no one comes close to the intensity these guys brings
I haven't seen anyone style on people on the feet the way featherweight Conor did other than Anderson Silva
I think Khamzat had started on an even more breathtaking run but he seems to have fast-forwarded a bit to the losing-the-plot-and-disappearing-up-your-own-arse stage a bit quicker than Conor did. He forgot to keep everything together at least until winning a belt. His magic is dissipating both inside and outside the cage.
@@DanAddison true Khamzat is also there but like I said he first needs to win the belt and even before he needs to stop calling people he won't actually fight. Guy is all over the place. Otherwise he is a machine and I like his buildup

This is my favourite fight such clever striking from McGregor
CRAZYYY how Max was the UFC vet here but Conor made him look average and with a torn knee. just wild how good he was
they were both fresh
Bruh... I just google their age and Connor is 35 and Max only 31 so Connor clearly had 4 year more experience than Max.. So i wouldnt say he was a vet when they both were really young in this fight
Umm MAX had 5 UFC fights BEFORE he fought Conor. Conor only had 1 UFC fight at tgis point. IDK what ya arguing lol
@@Azkaltlipoca they were both young but Max already had 5-6 UFC fights. Conor new to the UFC & only had 1 UFC fight buddy

Many forget McGregor's undefeated dominance in the 145-pound class. In contrast, his record in the 155 and 170-pound divisions stands at 3-3, showcasing a varied performance compared to his earlier savage performances !
Current Max vs Prime McGregor is now my favorite hypothetical fight
Joe Rogan is the best commentator ever. He drops so much knowlegde. Thank you for your work, sir. Amazing fight 💪
Joe was gassing up Conor the whole time tbh bad casting they should leave room to cast Max and try to stay focused on the fight Joe was acting like it was his podcast or some shit tbh couldnt stand the commentating by him lmao
Ultra confident Conor was a monster.
Conor was very different fighter I am impressed with his take down 3 times wow I wish if he comes back stronger like this.
Yeah. Connor actually tore his knee in the second round too. That’s why he took it to the ground in the 3rd round
Both of them
He came he saw he became MR. NOTORIOUS and now he's living it up a lavish lifestyle Connor is the prime example of how to use the ufc
That first round was so action packed it felt like forever! So many kicks and punches thrown!
Max looks insanely young in this fight it’s so crazy how much he’s grown up since this fight
He was 21
Crazy how right Holloway's corner was about attacking the leg, he was only 21 though we've seen him make better adjustments since
Two absolute goers. Hey, who would’ve known what both fighters will achieve after this point in time. Shoutouts to both warriors from Ireland and Hawaii.
Too many people forget how good Conor was.
Underrated fight!! You don't see these styles anymore
There was so much top notch young blood in the UFC at the time.
“Oh you should’ve been there laddie, it was GLORIOUS!!!”
-Mcgregor
Pure domination
At 10:00 is when Max hyperextends the knee of McGregor causing the torn ACL.
If this is true thank you fam
Two legends when they were still boys in the MMA Game 💯
this was light sparring match for conor, crazy how much max has improved
max learned so much from this I think he realized how much confidence matters in that ring
I'm literally mad everytime there's a card where Joe isn't commentating.. His knowledge, expertise and comparisons to other figters and who they've trained with is so nice to listen to.
Joe Mama
Yeah, its kind of too much having three commentators at once. It is so much better when it is just Joe and Anik
it's crazy that this was over ten years ago... this run to the title was so iconic!
Conor was so disciplined at this weight. Becoming so famous was his downfall. He just didnt seem like he had the same drive in the other weight classes even though he had some success over guys like Alvarez, Nate in the 2nd, and Cerrone.
I wouldn’t say that he moved up I. Weight to test himself. I mean he fought floyd got hella money and moved up to fight Diaz and yes he lost to khabib but he wasn’t hungry anymore frfr. It’s clear hungry Connor was way different than superstar Connor
Sin duda la mejor versión de Conor...increíble la presión y la fluides en sus piernas...este era el peso ideal para él porque le permitía tener mejor cardio y más velocidad en los golpes.
ya volvió despues de su pierna rota???? no estoy al tanto
Neither for or against Connor McGregor… but love him or hate him the excitement around his fights was real. Even if he was overhyped like many say, the energy around that man undeniable.

Don’t forget that Conor tore his ACL in the second round, which explains why he didn’t even throw another left leg kick for the rest of the fight and definitely why he just kept taking Max down in round 3. Irish warrior for getting over the finish line with a serious injury like as that
Man its really crazy to see how MMA has evovled in the last decade alone. This is the pre calf kick renaissance, and i think it would have been a much better outcome for max if he used calf kicks as well as him not utilizing what is now his signature stance mixups played a huge part.
Around 9:22 is when Max asks McGregor if he's okay since McGregor was making noises due to pain. Remember he mentioned it in a podcast before his fight against TKZ 😄
