- Nerf Elite 2.0 had us cautiously optimistic, and with each blaster released things seem to get worse. The Warden DB-8 is the evolution of the Roughcut 2x4, virtually the same in every regard... except both of my Warden DB-8s broke within minutes out of the box. They don't work. They advertise Slamfire, but if you try, you'll break this thing; and if I can break it so fast kids will just absolutely burn through them. Do not buy the Warden DB-8, and be very careful all ELITE 2.0 blasters, as you most likely cannot even attempt to fix them if they break.

I bought a Warden a while back, and I immediately found out that mine's Smart AR was basically non-existent, it would fire all 8 shots at once. At first, I was stoked, until I primed it in the middle of a battle and the entire frame snapped in half, and the internals fell to the ground.

A funny thing I noticed is that both Walcom and Coop seem to have experienced the exact same pair of breaks: One snapped priming linkage and one seized-up priming handle.

The weird thing is that I’ve had a warden for a year and it still works perfectly fine.Even with slam fire.then I got scared it would break so I got a roughcut,it broke as soon as I used it….so I had to replace my roughcut,and the warden is perfectly fine lol.

@@boi8214 in later warden production they fixed some of the priming issues it had. It's now usable without it insta breaking on use.
It’s because the gun has the same problems as it did for anyone. if I buy a gun with a problem where the barrel snaps off, chances are, other people will have the same problem.
The Elite 2.0 Warden DB-8: The definition of 1700’s guns but as dart toys, they work a few times, and then they stop working.

I usually go to thrift stores for parts and it breaks my heart daily the amount of broken nerf blasters I usually find. I can imagine the tons of disappointed kids sadly getting rid of their blaster just because they were cheaply made to save just 4 cents
Here in the uk, we only have elite 2.0 and a few stranded elite blasters from an age ago.
I know it's advertised and designed for Slam Firing but I kind of noticed whenever the warden breaks it's usually when it's slamfired that is a huge design flaw. Roughcut is better just get that if you can get your hands on one.

I'm glad X-shot and other brands are getting better. This way, we have something to look forward to, even as Hasbro refuses to either pass on the torch, or keep it lit.
Hasbro may have started all this, but it might be time to move on. Let them stagnate. Let them parade around like the emperor with no clothes. Let them rot while X-shot, Buzzbee, Worker and countless others push forward. All the influence hasbro has now is the name they've dragged through the mud one time to many.

I bought this blaster, it broke after one shot, to put in context I am a 12 year old skinny, small child with zero muscle mass. This is by far the worst nerf gun I have ever owned
The roughcut was one of my favorite nerf blasters growing up, so to see this "successor" be such trash immeasurably disappoints me, and ruins my opinion of Hasbro even further.
In 10 years NERF is going to go the way of BoomCo and Dart Zone will be the name brand

I actually just picked up a Battle Camo Roughcut earlier and I honestly understand the frustration. Elite 2.0 makes no sense since the darts are exactly the same and the blasters (from what little I know) are literally just cheap unmoddable reskins that are worse than the predecessors. I'll stick with the Dart Zone V-Twin, Villainator, and Spectrum for now
Fun story: this is the first video of yours I watched. First time I bought a Nerf product new from the store I was choosing between a BC Roughcut and a Warden, and I could not get the Roughcut I bought to single fire for the life of me. Looked up a review to see if that was a change from the original, saw this in the search results, and thought I'd watch to see what I missed out on. I think I made the right choice after all.

What really pisses me off is that kids are going to be getting these as birthday presents this Summer, all excited for their new toy, and the effing thing breaks in minutes. Kid in tears, birthday ruined. Thank you Nerf. They may never buy a Nerf product again. Hasbro need to recall the lot and redesign the inside so it doesn't break.
I've looked at this on the shelf when I bought a Saturn, and decided not to bother. It looked a chunkier rehash of the Roughcut for no obvious benefit. Glad I kept my money in my wallet.

I bought a warden about 2 years ago, it was actually good. I’m completely honest, it has never broke for me or ran into any major issues. It still maintains good range and everything works perfectly. I feel blessed lmao

Walcom's history with the Warden lines up with my history of the Rough Cut, but 'at least' I lost a feature with my second RC (First one couldn't release the right catch at all, second one is 'stuck' in double blasting). Yeah, the priorities might sound weird, but rather have a blaster that's usable in one 'mode' only instead of having catch jams on half of the blaster. Granted, if my second rough cut somehow ended up working like the brainsaw (or somehow stuck between catches that required a double trigger pull to fire), yeah, I would have been pissed too
Honestly, not surprised because of how good Hasbro's hobby games have been in terms of quality. Yeah, the games themselves are good, but the cards feel way cheap. If I can mark a card removing it from the packaging, something's gone wrong!

About the r-cut, agreed. It’s not the best for modding enjoyers and the smart AR ain’t the best, but for a boomstick fan, it’s incredible. And the warden is hot garbodor. I like the roughcut. It’s a fun shotgun.

This is why I think the Pro series is under Walmart's Adventure Force line. Hasbro has a lot of lobbyists, but Nexus Pro money is also Walmart money, and Walmart definitely has the oomph to make sure Hasbro can't try any funny business.

I just bought one of these used at a Game Exchange about two hours ago. Only half of it worked, so I figured I would disassemble it and fix it. I looked up a video and got it disassembled, but couldn't get it back together. Your video started playing after the instruction video ended. I finally did get it back together, and racked it back, shattering the entire thing into pieces and cutting my finger open. I was a micro-miniature repair technician in the Navy and have been building and repairing all kinds of devices for over 35 years at this point.
So! I'm slamming the "subscribe" button, then going to bandage my finger as it bleeds there are drops hitting the table as I type this. I think the bleeding is the only thing keeping my blood pressure under control.

It feels to me like NERF and Hasbro are making their position known; they're a toy company, and not only do they not give a damn about older fans and the hobby scene with modders and 3rd party or home made blasters, they're actively _defying and rejecting_ the hobbiests because we have no unquestioning brand loyalty for them to exploit for easy sales.
All I know is that I like the 2.0 aesthetic enough that I _might_ pick one up to turn into a /nonfunctional/ costume blaster prop if I find one on sale at goodwill for $5, because I _am_ genuinely a fan of the blocky, industrial look, which is very sci-fi/cyber punk.
The hobby scene has never been their target demographic, aside from Rival so no they don't care, it's somewhat naive to expect that.

Seriously, I love NERF, and it was blasters like the stryfe, rapidstrike, and retaliator that got me into the hobby and are still my go-to war primaries. So please Hasbro, either keep doing what you were doing before, or make something totally new and better. This is bullshit.

I have a few older blasters and when I see people with the same ones they are always blue even at places like foam warriors while mine are orange and white what’s up with that?

They don't even use a rubber o-ring on the plunger instead they use a rubber coat around the plunger that can get stuck against the plastic plunger tube
How did they take what looks like the nearly decade old roughcut and make a mess of it.
