In this video I travel to Dallas, TX to do a track day with Ride Smart Motorcycle School and Texas Superbikes. HUGE Shoutout to these two companies for having me out and providing me with a motorcycle. I got to ride a GSX-R600 while all of my buddies were on 1000cc bikes (ZX10r, M1000rr, etc) so I really had to rely on skill in order to keep up with them.

It's so weird watching hobby riders on the track anymore. Once you start doing test sessions with GP riders it's such a smoother time and more professional with way more speed. Puts it in perspective of what you're seeing from the youtuber side of things like this.

600 bike be better braking and faster in turns but straights they got you--but in A class they most all ride 600s.. depends on tracks.. most cant handle 100% of 1000s..at track capabilities.
That actually looked like a fun track for a 1000. A lot of sweeping corners and few diff straights. Not many hard braking zones.

Thats one hell of a track i will try to make it down next year. You should do a track tour and vist as many tracks as you can on your journey. This is great exposure for tracks and for people like me looking to travel and race. My home track is tiny 😢

The 600 needs to be ridden harder but it will keep up on tight tracks. I prefer the 1000 because it does it effortlessly. Straight aways its no competition

Believe it or not, "D" your boy never done a track day. I've been to the tracks but never done one. Watching your videos is definitely preparing me for when I do one, however. 🙌
You should buy a 750 and set it up for the track. Riding a less powerful bike fast develops your skills better as you can't rely on the power to keep up. You would have to learn better braking and cornering skills which would help on the street as well.

What do you think made the bike feel squirrelly? Those new tires made me nervous for you.
By no means am I trying to sound like an internet warrior and yes he is"newer" to track riding so he will continue to learn..but you could just see his technique as he paced around the track was wrong. And yes, new tires are known to be "slicker" but after a few heat cycles (sessions) that is the last thing to blame. you could visibly see as he would come into a braking zone super hard his weight would move forward and bring all the weight off the rear of the bike while slipping the clutch during a downshift, UNSETTLING the machine causing it to move around as. we saw in the video.
Do you need to rev match 100% of the time on a wet clutch..NO but it does make things smoother.. as your NOT forcing the wheel speed and the engine speed to jolt together in sync.
Another thing I noticed was mid-corner he would pop a downshift, again UNSETTLING the bike. As I said I know he's newer to track riding, learning mistakes WILL happen and thats okay..
Lastly, I just need to throw this out there.. dragging knee DOES NOT make you faster.. its just a reference point :)
It had nothing to do with the bike overall…I was just referring to coming into the corner too hot and braking really hard-I could feel the rear end lifting 🤘🏾 #FastLaneGang 🏁

Did well on the 600 man! But honestly I’m surprised they didn’t at least provide you with a Gsxr 750 for that track. . Not too much bigger than the 600, & a little bit more power. . We all know FastLane D is a bigger dude, so him on that 600 I’m sure was prolly a tight fit. .Still did his thing tho!

I've seen a guy on an Aprilia 660 smoke everyone at COTA, granted he was a motoamerica guy, still 100hp down from them. I was there both days on an orange ninja 650, way more fun than a 1000 as you can use all 6 gears, not just 2. All the 1000's scared of that hill after the straight, I just fly right by them. You're in way too high a gear, a 600 will be sluggish af under 8k. You barely need to brake at that track on some corners, you need to downshift more aggressive and use engine braking. The tack should damn near bounce off the limiter when you downshift.

EDIT: yup, on the track, where experience and skill is king, the 600 will be right behind the 1k boys. There ain’t enough room for the 1k boys to pull out too far ahead. 600 gang! Let’s go, bayyy…beeee!!
