Dirk was my all time favorite player not named Larry Bird. I've been watching the NBA since the late 1960s... so read my lips when I say that Luka is the most talented player to ever wear a Mavs uniform... and it's not all that close. Luka is so great that a 30 point triple double is actually a below average game. Dirk averaged 22 points per game in his career. Luka averaged that in his rookie season and has pushed it to what... 28 PPG now I think for his almost 6 season career. Dirk was one of the all time greats... and an outstanding human being as well, but...
He ain't Luka.

Offensively he already is at or above Jordan’s level. Defensively he’ll never be close. He and Joker, top 5 all time when it’s over.
He is not overhyping, but stressing to appreciate what this young man is doing already
You forgot that Luka plays in same era as Steph Curry, Dame Lillard, Kyrie, Booker... He plays in the same era with all these guys and still has 4 first NBA teams. It's not because of competition, it's because of how incredible he is and how he had perfect start in his NBA career.
He’s easily the best Maverick…he’s the best player in the league (Jokic the only player close to him and he’s 4 years older) and he’ll end up as the best point guard of all time…the only real question is whether he’ll catch MJ by the time he’s finished

Luka may not be a great defensive player, but he has made a fantastic improvement on that side. From being a bad defensive player to being above average in the league, while being the best offensive player and great passer.
If Luka has the fire in him and the right teachers I can see him getting into the top 10 list and maybe top 5.

Dirk is a 7 foot player that change the power forward position. Luka is a 6 ' 7" point guard triple double machine. There are diferent players on diferent eras. No comparable.

dirk's only championship is more valuable than many of multiple championships of other players including lebron's miami heat championships imo so comparing luka and dirk unreletable for me

Luka already started breaking Dirk's Maverick records in only his first 5 or 6 seasons. Dirk won't have any records left when Luka is done, for that matter, most of the league won't.
When comparing MJ to Luka, specially on MJ 80s years, at that time pace was high, almost as much as now, they were less 3s shot a lot less and the scoring averages were close to 108 ppg for the good teams. So Lukas 34 now are comparable to MJs 37 38. On offense, if we are talking skills he is superior to both MJ and LBJ. And those two had a game based more on gifts than skills.Kobe is comparable to Luka but a lot less efficient.On an era where teams were playing to 95 ppg though, so Luka's 34 are not comparable to Kobes numbers. Larry Joe is the only one I can think really has Luka beat at both skills and efficiency, however he was not the scorer Luka was as a volume shooter and played mostly off the ball. He was a way better shooter, and defender though.

He wasn’t close to being a better shooter. He was great for his era but his statistics prove his legend is due to the era, not his skills.

@@EduSanjuan777 there’s no question scoring is easier, but Luka is a better 3pt shooter, a better ball handler, a better passer, and a better scorer overall (by a lot). Bird played down low so is a better rebounder and defender.
They do have similar games and Even shooting styles. But at 25 Luka has already surpassed Bird in almost everything except playoff success (and put a young McHale and Parish on the Mavs and he’d already have at least one title by now).
