@@stanman6576 yeah I saw it. I liked it. I like when Zack does slow motion. However, I will say in this movie there’s a lot of slow motion probably too much ha. Even so, this movie is bad ass bro

I'm going to wait to watch this on Christmas day. I always love watching a new movie on Christmas and I think this is the perfect choice.
I just wish he released the extended cut now. Like why release a shortened cut when it's not even going to theatres

Simply put. People these days have zero attention spans unless they can binge 3 seasons of one show on the spot. And for some reason people like that don't like watching movies that are that long. It makes no sense but that's how they think and it's just been something I've been trying to accept.

It's been years since I gave two shits about 'critics' scores. They hate what I love and apparently hate me too. I only ever pay attention to audience reviews.
I find it interesting however, looking at the 'audience' scores, roughly four out of five scores give it a five star rating, sometimes a four. There are almost no twos and threes. However about one in five audience reviews score it with one star. Interestingly several of those one star reviews are accompanied by comments about how people are spamming reviews who haven't seen the movie yet, because it isn't out yet!
Well if those idiots think that reviews are being spammed because they think people can't have seen the movie yet, what does it say about 'their' one star reviews?

The Star Wars influence is totally expected as it was originally penned as a Star Wars movie. I haven't actually seen the movie yet as I plan to watch both movies back to back like I always do with the Hellraiser 1&2 movies. However, I must admit I am a Snyder fan so I might be a little biased.

Not a Snyder fan here… why does this guy always have to have a directors cut even when he has complete control? It’s almost like he can’t create a concise and enjoyable movie without having hours and hours of your time.
Millennial buzz words: slow burn, pacing. Translation: impatient or ADHD.
If your preferred "pacing" is an issue, youd better avoid the much longer directors cut he has verified will be released.
He didn't write the script by himself right? Didn't Shay Hatten(John wick 3 and 4) and Kurt Johnstad (300 rise, Atomic Blonde, Act of Valor) help write drafts as well?

to be fair star wars isnt original eather was inspired by john carter , dune , flash gorden and western and samurai films

Grow up and accept hack Snyder movies are either mid or garbage.
I really wanted to like this, the look is badass, the characters are okay-ish, the villain is blah.
It really does feel like TEMU Star Wars 100%.
If they would have gone more ....Firefly and just have fun but everyone is dead serious, everyone looks like a Greek god, everyone is shrouded in plot armor,everyone is the best fighter in the galaxy or absolute master at everything.
The only way you'll have fun watching this is if somebody is giving you a $100,000 bucks as it's on screen.

I knew absolutely nothing about this I was like oh that new Sci-Fi is dropped, watched it completely enjoyed it, knowing obviously it wasn't complete part 1 etc... then reading the reviews it's like wtf is wrong with critics these days. I'm no slouch, but seriously talk about a disconnect between audiences reactions and the demands of critics so obviously don't get enough air time and are just pretty miserable most of their lives I have to assume l😂
And I guess people just forget what an awful writer George Lucas was with respect to dialogue eh?
I can tell you where exactly where he has stole EVERY idea for this show. Unbelievably predictable, hackish and lacking originality. I have to admit, The Magnificent 7/The Seven Samurai/ Battle Beyond the Stars in space is an interesting concept, but it is just executed poorly here. Very disappointing. Now I know why Lucas Films turned this screenplay down.

Zach seems to have forgotten the cardinal rule of film making, "SHOW! DON"'T TELL!" It was very boring. You have to grab your audience within the first 30 seconds to one minute mark. Something has to happen within that time frame and nothing did. I love Zach, but I just don't think he has the writing chops.

The writing. Here we are again with Snyder's achilles heel. Trying to forge a new IP. For a start KUDOS to him for trying to do so, new IP's are desperately needed. To do that though you've got to have the right people at the top of their game. The world buiding, how you handle the exposition, characterisation work. It's HARD haha. Is Snyder the right person to take that beast on? I don't know man haha. Good review. Objective review.
he had the john wick writer work on this. My thing is snyder knows how to film something; He just needs to take a break and get a lot of people to review his scripts before he decideds to shoot anything.

I can see that. this is the problem with film today. Story, dialogue and characters are mid, but the visuals are outstanding. I much prefer dialogue and story now. ZS gave me 300 tho and I am forever grateful.
Dont forget movies are visual media.zack likes to use visual story telling and people mostly dont get that

I feel like they shot themselves in the foot with the Netflix cut. Like I know 2 hour films do better on the platform, but bad word of mouth isn't going to help anything. But not sure if the director's cut can overcome all the excessive exposition

For every single field you can name.
Here is an assignment for you: find a case where a smaller sample size was preferred over a larger sample size, all things being equal.
@@nosuchthing8 But all things are NOT equal. For a streaming movie, audiences don't even have to prove they've seen the movie. And you'll get people giving it a 10 for no reason other than it being a Snyder film, and you'll get people giving it a 0 for the same reason. We live in the age of the review bomb, for good or for bad.
The one thing I will say in favor of audience scores is that they CAN be more representative of the actual consumer-- reviewers don't necessarily want to see the film, whereas the audience doesn't see it unless they do.
At the end of the day I just don't care about the score itself. Say a film has a 90% score, but you look closer and everyone gave it a 6/10. Not a very good movie in my book. Mass appeal, sure. But that's still an F.
Don't get me wrong, I want to like this movie. But when every review says it looks good but is like watching an encyclopedia entry, I don't get excited.

Suppose the movie in question was a saw like movie. If I HAD to review it, I would give it low marks. Because I don't like that type of movie.
People tend to be siloed. Some don't like animation, or sexy, or world war two, etc movies.
My concern with listening to the critics is that it's very possible mant don't like the genre. And give a bad review for that reason.
Ignoring the people that never saw RM, at least most of them made a conscious effort to see the movie. They had an expectation to enjoy the genre. Which speaks volumes.
Best not to mention the rumor of an alternate cut when it comes to a Snyder movie. I can forgive you for not being aware but It just becomes this whole thing.

Disney must be really, really worried. Plenty of Disney Dollars trues to sink the film, that's going to back fire.
Snyder - exposition and then we should feel something about it, what a good director would do in interaction and dialogue with the characters but hey it looks good if you like the look of his movie full of blurred stuff and an unfocused background and overuse of slow-motion.
So it is again the worst of Snyder and if you don't love even what he is good at - pictures then a definite no. No thanks another trash.
"i had a lot of fun with it" and "but the story" you lack consistency here buddy. if you enjoyed the movie the story held up. when a movie fails due to story that is not a comedy then you will not have fun.
