  • Sugriva's Atlas- Part II | Nilesh Oak - • Sugriva's Atlas - Part...
    Newer research and newer advances available to date the ancient events have pushed the antiquity of Indian civilization beyond 24,000+ years. Archaeology evidence demonstrates the presence of Human beings in India for the last 100,000+ years and the presence of agriculture for 20,000+ years. Astronomy evidence of the epics leads us to the 13th millennium BCE for Ramayana and the 6th millennium BCE for Mahabharata.
    However, we have scanty descriptions of what was happening in the other parts of the world and we know little of interactions between world civilizations of deep antiquity. Did our ancestors know of the areas outside Bharata and how much did they know of the world geography?
    Do we have reliable accounts of the knowledge of world geography in our ancient narratives and is it possible to test their validity?
    This presentation demonstrates an impressive knowledge of our ancestors of the world geography as early as 14,000+ years ago that not only is validated with empirical evidence but also corroborates what we know of the changes in ocean levels or the presence of human habitation in far off areas of the world.

    This is so enlightening...All these talks should be converted to a series similar to ‘Ancient Aliens’ ... How I wish some producers / government sponsors something like that..
    I have come across so many colleagues of mine, from Brazil, with their names sounding very similar to Indian/Hindu names.. ( Arjon (Arjun) , Yashudha ( Yashodha) , Audreye (Atreya) )... I have heard my Mexican colleagues tell me that according to their legends, they are descendants of one princess from India , who got married to native Mexican Prince... One of my Iranian colleagues wives name is Sivaa..Always wondered where this similarity stems from... Nilish Ji’s talk helps connect those dots..Eager to listen to upcoming parts of this series.

    @ 2:20 Sugreeva is definitely mentioning what we call tody, "Java Islands".
    In layman or common language (बोलीभाषा) "य" is often pronounced as 'ज"
    Eg. Yamuna becomes Jamuna.
    Likewise, there is also a mention of "The abode of the Vainateya - Vinata's son"
    (गृहम् च वैनतेयस्य नाना रत्न विभूषितम् |
    तत्र कैलास संकाशम् विहितम् विश्वकर्मणा || ४-४०-४०) and there is a modern day Republic of "Vanuatu" East of New Guinea and Southeast of the Soloman Islands and the resemblance in the name can not be just a coincidence.
    As for "Why the golden trident or Candelabra de Paracas, Peru was marked as the last frontier of the East?"
    In his book, "Patal yatra" (पाताल यात्रा), Mr Anil J Patil has mentioned that it was created at the time of "Vaman Avatar" when after donating his entire kingdom to Vaman, the Demon King Bali (बळी) went to Patal Lok (namely South America) where his architect "Mayasur" (मयासूर) established a civilization even better than the previous one. Hence the "candelabra" was carved to mark the boundary of the two kingdoms by "Tridasheshwar" (The Lord of the three stages) which Dr. P. V. Vartak has addressed as "Vishnu" in his book "Vastav Ramayan."
    Last but not the least, thank you very much for such a precise and logical video explaining "the history of Valmiki Ramayan" 🙂🙏

    I've seen some people here complaining about the utterance of the final 'a' sound in Rāma, Mahābhārata and Rāmāyana. So, I thought that I should post this as a general comment.
    In the dēvanāgrī script, any letter without a 'halanta' or 'virāma' (्) is pronounced with an inherent 'अ' sound, e.g. क = ka, त = ta, ण = na, म = ma etc., and if you add a 'halanta' or 'virāma' (्) to it, it becomes क् = k, त् = t, ण् = n, म् = m etc. So, the words like राम, महाभारत and रामायण, have the actual pronunciations of Rāma, Mahābhārata and Rāmāyana. Here, the thing to remember is that the final 'a' sound should not be pronounced as 'आ', it should be like 'अ'. And since I have also studied Sanskrit a little, this is exactly how we pronounce these words in Sanskrit.
    Now, what happens with the languages spoken in the northern regions of India is that a language phenomenon called 'Schwa Syncope' acts there. According to this phenomenon, the final 'a' sound at the end of a word is omitted or becomes silent. Hence, in the languages like Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi, Assamese etc., the final 'a' sound is omitted, e.g. कमल = kamal (lotus), આમ = aam (mango), ਅਨਾਰ = anaar (pomegranate), জল = jol (water), पाऊस = paaus (rain); in all these words, due to Schwa Syncope, the final 'a' sound has got omitted.
    Surprisingly, in Orissa, the people still pronounce that final 'a' sound. However, in the Odia language, the 'अ' is pronounced as 'ऑ' or 'aw' as in 'jaw'. So, if we take the Sanskrit word for Lotus, कमल (kamala), in Odia, the same word is pronounced as - କମଲ (कॉमॉलॉ/kaw-maw-law).
    Now, since pronouncing the final 'a' sound seems a little difficult, the languages spoken in the southern regions of India, like Telugu, Kannada etc. add a long vowel sound of 'आ' or 'ā' at the end. E.g. in Telugu, the word कृष्ण or krishna is written in the same way as కృష్ణ = कृष्ण/krishna, but is pronounced as कृष्णा/krishnā. Even if you want to write words with the omission of the final 'a' sound, you add a virāma or halanta to it, e.g. in Kannada, the famous actor Dr. Rajkumar writes his name as ರಾಜ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ = राज् कुमार् / Rājkumār.
    I have even seen that in Tamizh and Malayalam, people pronounce the final 'a' sound exactly the way we pronounce it in Sanskrit, e.g. ദോശ = dōsha [Dosa], சிவ (சிவன்) = siva (sivan) [Lord Shiva].
    I think, from the above points, it is clear that the actual or Sanskrit pronounciation of these words should be with the utterance of the final 'a' sound, i.e. as Rāma, Mahābhārata and Rāmāyana. But, even if you are pronouncing them as Rām or Rāmā or Rāman, it is not wrong or bad, it is also correct, it is just that you are pronouncing it in your regional language, but since Nilesh ji has made his video for all the Indians living in different parts of the nation, his pronounciation of राम as Rāma is more appropriate, since it is in the way it has been in the original text.
    So in short, just pronounce like this:
    Rāma = रा raa - म ma
    [ Not like Raamaa रामा nor Raam राम् ]
    Mahābhārata = म ma - हा haa - भा bhaa - र ra - त ta
    [ Not like Mahaabhaarataa महाभारता nor Mahaabhaarat महाभारत् ]
    Rāmāyana = रा raa - मा maa - य ya - ण na
    [ Not like Raamaayanaa रामायणा nor Raamaayan रामायण् ]
    At the end, I just want to say that we should not create differences between us because of the diversity of languages, rather we should be proud and appreciate this priceless diversity of ours. Fighting whether it should be Rāma or Rām is very absurd and absolute stupidity😂, atleast now when you know the whole thing! We should be proud of all the languages of our Bhārata and appreciate their beauty. There is nothing known as North-Indian or South-Indian or North-east Indian, we all have only one indentity, that is we all are 'Bhāratiyas'.
    Jaya Bhārata! Amara Bhārata!🙏😊🇮🇳
