Brothers Johnny, a talented teenage surfer, and Adam, a young video-game enthusiast, enjoy a carefree life in California under the guardianship of Marine veteran Mac and the quirky companionship of local oddball Iggy. Their tranquil existence is shattered when Zatch, a former royal guard, arrives with urgent news: their birthplace, the island state of Patu San, is under the tyrannical rule of Colonel Chi. As the true heirs to the throne, Johnny and Adam must return to Patu San to reclaim their heritage and restore peace. Joined by a restless Californian detective intrigued by the ninja attack thwarted by Zatch, the brothers embark on a perilous adventure to save their homeland.

Thought this movie wasn't gonna hold up for me seeing it at 38 but this movie is still good. This and 3 Ninjas had me convinced I could beat the crap out of a full grown man.

The 90s was just a different time for movies. We need these kinds of movies again. But everyone wants nothing but big-time blockbusters instead of wholesome movies.
People are tired of the generic Marvel blockbuster movies but Hollywood keeps shoving them down everyone's throat.
I love that tone loc's character didnt have this whole "wtf, i gotta get home i got work to do" moment. he was just like "this like 100% better than what i been doin, whats good with it?" also him swallowing a handcuff key every tuesday lmao

The most surprising thing about this movie was the fact the Sega Game Gear didn’t need batteries for the whole movie, that seems like the most fantastical part about Surf Ninjas.

this came out of pay-per-view when i was a kid. i remember spending a whole evening watching the PPV preview channel where they would show like 5 trailers of what you could order on loop. I was basically waiting for this trailer to keep coming around so I could dance to Barbara Ann and pretend to be a ninja. I wish I could remember what the other trailers were.

If I have things correct. Ernie Reyes jr. ended up getting caught up in heavy drug and alcohol abuse around or after he did the turtle movies. That's when he became a much more popular and recognized face and name. Though he's older than he looks, by quite a bit, apparently still to immature to understand how to handle the fame and pressures. His acting and action career never recovered, and even his ability to practice martial arts was significantly compromised. He never returned to the same level he was at during these films.

Johnny dressed like Luigi LMAO. Love this movie. The dective played the same character in Ace Ventura. His song was also played in the beginning of the movie when the boys were surfing in the yellow jeep.

I was a kid in the 90’s and this was a movie I watched all the time! I knew all the words and even tried some of the fight moves on a friend and hurt myself because I was an idiot, good times.
The soundtrack was slamming! And man I wish we got more Ernie Reyes leads in his prime. He could’ve truly been one of the great martial arts leads. He was a prodigy
