This is the third lesson in a series of lessons using the Hal Leonard Guitar Method Book 1 as our primary source of instruction. This lesson reinforces the content we learned in "Lesson 2" which taught the first three notes on the 1st string including E, F, and G as well as whole notes, half notes, and quarter notes. This page gives several exercisers to help build confidence with these notes before moving on. Thanks for tuning in and please stay tuned for lessons every week from the Hal Leonard Method Book 1.
This series is not intended to replace the Hal Leonard Guitar method, but to act as a supplement to it. You will need a copy of the book to be successful using this series. I've included an Amazon link to the book below.

"do not move unless you have to" is game changer on my guitar learning. Thank you so much
I was homeschooled and we never could afford an instrument. I bought myself a guitar now and I’m so thankful for your videos. Thank you for making them accessible for everybody
Seriously..this is soo good..Hal Leonard should pay you for this..I tried their sites...but it was woeful. Thank you so much..
Thank you so much for you insightful lessons man, so good. 👍
Nick,
I’m 67 and never played a guitar. I’m presently taking lessons at the senior center in my town. My teacher mentioned to look for your video’s as I’m using the Hal Leonard book. It’s great, as your method and delivery of the lesson helps reinforce the lesson.
Thanks!
he also has a facebook page, and also has a group that's more aimed at the mel bay books, but he said we can join too
Props to you sir!
You are so awesome dude please continue with these lessons and please do all the books Love ya
thanks you so much for the video lesson!
youre so helpful and deserve more recognition for the effort you put into your videos
I appreciate that! Thank you!
Thank you!
Great videos
When playing the chords on play me down do you strum 4 times per measure or strum the way the notes are written so on half notes would you strum 1 skip then strum with note or just strum 4/4 strum strum strum strum not match how note is written
Accourding to me Beginner Guitar with Hal Leonard Guitar Method Book 1 is better for biggners then Mel Bay's Modern Guitar Method Grade 1
The Hal Leonard method is certainly a little easier starting out and moves a little slower than the Mel Bay method!
