VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Thank you for tuning into the new episode of Project Wilson. We are turning this 15’ Fisher Jon Boat into a Tiny Boat! 25hp Mercury Outboard motor, 24v Minnkota Bow Mount Trolling motor, marine batteries, casting decks, livewell, fish finders, electronics, recessed foot control tray, hydroturf…this boat will be awesome! None of it would be possible without the help of Tiny Boat Nation! SUBSCRIBE so don’t miss a beat! Tight Lines!
In this video I will show you how I added Casting Deck Framing from angle aluminum to the jon boat to bass boat conversion or restoration. Starting with a sketch helps tremendously. The aftermarket boat hatches were powder coated black and look amazing. You can find them on the Tiny Boat Nation website if your interested. We are going to be running an aluminum deck. Counter sink rivets, aluminum hinges and 1.5" angle aluminum in 1/16" diameter are a majority of the materials used. We did also use some standard rivets. A minimalistic but strong front deck will be in this boat, with no chance of rotting from adding wood to a boat.

I have the utmost appreciation for how you do these videos. Something that sets you and a very few others apart from the herd is the explanations of why you are doing what you do, as well as why something did or did not work.
Thank you Shane, I'll keep it that way then 👍👍
@@fireantfishing I wouldn't change your format or methods at all. Even if it means shorter, and thus more, videos to cover any process, the content is what is important. It's easy to push buttons on a phone or cpu and watch another video...it is not so easy to find videos with actually valuable content. Keep it up!
I actually loved this video. I follow a few different channels as I try and prepare for my first attempt at a modification on our new Jon boat and this was so great because it flowed slowly since it was uncut raw footage. The benefit for us newbies is we really get to watch the process unfold. Each pause while you’re thinking lets us do the same as we try and see if what we’re thinking is what you’re thinking, which is really helpful in “quizzing” our new comprehension and confirming that we’re building upon our knowledge and understanding. Thanks for sharing so we can get better without having to make as many mistakes along the way!! 👊🏻
The build is coming along man! Gonna be a sick ride when she's done.
Thanks man!
Love the video format. Much more helpful. A lot of “aha, that’s how it’s done” moments.
Thanks Joseph! Much appreciated!
Great video man. I'm really impressed with how dialed in and tight that front deck hatch layout is. You won't have to sheet much! Looking good man, glad to see you chopping away on it!
Thanks man! Its tight, but it will work!
love this style of video, more detailed and explained. Great way to start getting some knowledge on how to deck a boat and design it the way you want. Keep it up :)
Thank you, I appreciate the insight! Helps a ton!
Keep up the great work. Raw video is the best
Awesome Dennis thanks for the feedback bud
Thank you very much for sharing these details!
Hey man I like the style of this video ( long form ). It really helps me to see the whole process. Thanks for the content.
Thanks for the feedback! Ill keep it going!
Another awesome training session. Thx #projectwilson!
Clecos bro! Temp fasteners for whole drilling metal wont move when you are drilling
This video was definitely helpful on my small wonder project. Thank you!
Great content FireAnt. More of this would have been helpful during my build. This will be great for next time.
Thank you Pinefish!
I'm nearing the end of my 14 deep v build and I miss the process. Overcoming problems and creating something from nothing was very rewarding for me.
It is fun. It's amazing how creative you can get when your stuck in a pickle
Is this a 14 or 16 ft
Very nice what you are doing here, I come with a question
What thickness is aluminum plate for construction?
Enjoy your work! 🖐️
.090 for sheeting and 1/16” framing
This dude is so legit
Thanks man!
Being right handed I would have positioned the motor controller off center to the right and had room for the seat pedestal. Think about it, control in center means I have to stand off center on my left to use it, thereby off balancing the boat.
PS- fyi, the white side foam was in excellent condition and is far more buoyant then the pink, test it and you'll see.
mmmm not sure about that, ill try it
Really like the videos very informative where did you happen to get your hatches from especially that 10x40 or 20x40
Thanks David, tbnation.net - dry hatches
I FOLLOW you till the end even into battle! Pump out the content i would like to see it through
Awesome! Good to know!
What thickness angle did you use for the deck and the floor ?
This is amazing. I'm trying to start planning my own, which is an older model Lund WC14, with the 3 bench seats, not like the newer one with the split seats in the back, and that will probably make everything easier. But I can't seem to understand how to start with the subfloor, and if I need side rails to help mount the deck on. There's no ribs up in the front, two in the middle and they seem very shallow, so if I try to use 1.5" angled alum, it'll be taller than the rib. I guess I could use 1/16", made into an open U shape upside down over the ribs, but if it's taller then I won't be able to rivet it to the ribs. SMH
Do you have a video explaining how to rivet the side rails in? This seems a little daunting to me and there’s not a lot covering above the water line
Bump 😂
What do u think about oceansouth rocket launchers? On or for you boat?
They are cool! I dont have a use for them on this rig though
Where do you get the aluminum from?
What are you using for decking material?😊
.090 thickness aluminum sheeting
LOve all your videos. Is the pool noodles along the gunnel temporary? Why?
Yes sir, just to protect the paint while installing the interior
@@fireantfishing I figured that but had to ask just in case. Cool color though. Thanks for your service too.
How did you paint Wilson
Hey Wayne, I have a paint video on this project as well. Chris @senditjonboats sprayed it
So are those aluminum hatches going to be covered in carpet? Or leave as is?
Hydroturf
@@fireantfishing Ahhh! Got it didn't think about Hydro Truf
Where did you buy the hatches?
i know that this video was 3 years ago but judging from how long it takes you to drill them holes with that shitty drill bit lim guessing you are still working on this build. 1/4 of the video was drilling like 2 holes. jokes aside it looks good
