      Agreed. Those rallies might not be the most exciting tennis to watch, but some people don’t realize how difficult high balls are to return, especially with your backhand on clay. And sometimes your only way to return a high ball is to hit another high ball

    I like the way Mirra tries new things on court, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't but I like her adventurous style of tennis. Some people here are making fun of it but wait till she is a little older and stronger and these established players will not have it so easy against her. I like the way she doesn't use full power on all shots and goes for placement and she tries the slice also. I'd like to see her volley a bit more like Muchova does but she is learning.

      The equivalent of moonballing in men's tennis is centerhitting, so is hitting the ball as hard as you can, but without purpose or intention, just to the very center of the court, and praying the opponent makes a mistake, and it is way more prevalent than moonballs are in women's tennis. I quited to follow men's tennis years ago because of those unsufferable long rallies between players who play not to lose the point, rather than trying to win it. I think Mirra is overhyped right know. I know who she beat, but it doesn't explain why she is in TOP 5 favourites to win French Open according to most of the bookies, right behind Swiatek, Sabalenka, Rybakina and Gauff. She is not consistent enough. For example Ostapenko is outside top 10 favourites to win FO but how she is worse than Mirra ?

      Ostapenko has zero chance at RG I would say but I agree with you on this over hyped teenager. There are however only 3 contenders this year and we all know who they are. It's a shame Muckova hasn't played recently as she would have made it 4.

      Mirra is a rising star and proved it once again in Madrid. It's no surprise that she looks preferable to many other inconsistent players.

      @@osmotreno Are you sure ? Who she beat this year in good shape except maybe Paolini? She beat ONS at AO but ONS was in terrible shape at the start of the season so i'ts not big deal, till Madrid she was outside top 50 in WTA Race. She beat Vondrusova who is number 29 in WTA Race. I think some of the good results she get because she was underestimated but when taken seriously like in game against Sabalenka she looks like someone outside TOP 50, and definitely she is not in top 5 of the season as odds might suggest.

      @osmotreno Před 21 dnem +1

      @@piqo44 She has beaten a lot of strong players over the past year and has a positive record against top-20. It's better than Gauff at her age, than many other top-20 players during this time. She hasn’t beaten top-4 yet, but everything is ahead.

    Not so fast kiddo...well she just turned 17 so she has got a year left before we can stop calling her a kid anymore and see whether all the hype surrounding her is real or not or whether she'll just be like the Fruhvirtova sisters Linda and Brenda who were equally hyped but Linda's now 19 and ranked 150 while sister Belinda is 17 and ranked 102 with both still to win anything big.

    to everyone commenting about the last rally, it's called lobbing and it is perfectly fine to use that shot. if you play the ball deep and high it keeps you from getting attacked. it's used on men's and women's tours very commonly. please find something else to comment on.,

    This match shows very well Andreeva's limitations. Mirra will always struggle with players who have strong forehands and very good backhands. Mirra's weakness is now well known among coaches: her forehand is just a rally shot from the baseline. It is often loopy and is usually just used as a defensive shot to reset the point, just like Coco's. Her forehand will always be attacked until she is out of position and her backhand wing is exposed. Smart players know it is not wise to direct the ball to her backhand when she is set because Mirra can hit winners to anywhere on the court with her backhand.
