Yianni has always been awesome but just keeps getting stronger and better. His international freestyle work seems to have given a lot of "strength" to his wrestling foundation. Just a couple years ago it seems like he was the "gumby" scrambler. Now he looks strong in all positions without having to go into a stretch match with his opponent in weird positions in order to win scrambles. He still has the flexibility and agility obviously, but he is looking like a world challenger in this form with the added strength.
Perfectly put
i agree these guys being on the world stage and getting the experience there getting while still in college is tremendous you could see the same with surano his timing on his shots has impor0ved tremendously aswell as his strenght
At 6:08 with 3 seconds left in the second round - Yianni winks and smiles at Lovett 😃
It’s rough when you come up against one of the best wrestlers in recent history!
94-1 3x National champ and great person
who did he lose to? i forgot
@@jannorris4140 for some reason I want to say Bryce Meredith early in his freshman year but I’m not sure
@@jannorris4140 He lost to jayden eirman his freshman year
@@jannorris4140 Jayden Eierman his freshman year but then he beat him 3x after that. He was up 6-3 with 18 seconds left took a shot when he should have just for nothing, got cradled lost 9-6
@@jannorris4140 he lost to Jaydin Eierman his freshman year. He should have won but he shot in late in the 3rd when he was already up and got caught. He then lost to Austin Gomez his senior year
When you hear him in interviews, he sounds so much like a coach, the way he critiques himself. Hope him and Spencer both get to end their careers as four-time champs.
Yianni's style has always been so fun to watch. Shayne Van Ness reminds me of him too. The way they like to move in every direction and work with angles is so damn good. The way they also reshoot on and on again is just way different than most other wrestlers which is what makes them so good
@kev4850 Great example. I thought of Van Ness as well. I think Shayne will come back from the season-ending injury and look to steamroll through the 149-lb division. No more Yianni to be in his way. Shayne lost to Yianni in 2022 and it was close early but due to his experience Yianni was able to hold Shayne off.
DC's commentary is awesome. Thanks for including him and please have more DC in the future!
At first I didn't think I would like DC because I've heard some of his UFC commentary and wasn't impressed. But after seeing him with the NCAA Championships, I know he is much better with collegiate wrestling and is a super asset to the drama of the matches. Definitely deserves the opportunity for us to see him again. Get him Back for sure!...
Love having DC commentary in wrestling need more
Pretty awesome to think next year both him and Spencer Lee, if healthy, get the chance to both become 4 time national champions! Should be awesome to see and make history if they do
Didn’t age well
@@dantesantana8481fools like you just say shit just to say it. What didn’t she well??? The original comment mentioned nothing but “get the chance to both become 4 time national champions!” Which they did??? So what exactly didn’t age well fool?
His comment on how the ncaaa screwed all the seniors in 2020 world class one of the reasons he’s my favorite
Just happy ridge made the final, so unfortunate it had to be Yianni to meet him
Cool that he mentioned the guys from 2020 that got royally fcked. We had some guys wrestling in this tournament that have been in college since 2014 but they couldn't give those guys one more opportunity. Trash. Great job Yianni!
Every one of them got their comeuppance too. Eierman didn’t even AA
Yianni gave him a wink at 6:07
noticed that lmao. Did a wink after his match as well
I wrestled YD and Vito growing up and every technique they execute is on point, YD shot so low in this match constantly.
Props to Yianni! One day soon, Lovett's going to be a badass!
The correct assessment is as follows:
- Ridge should be ecstatic about his incredible performance in the tournament. So proud.
- Yianni looked every bit like a world-class wrestler and, though I didn't see all his matches, unbeatable in the NCAA.
- Yianni was classy to acknowledge the other wrestlers who got screwed in 2020. These guys are all studs and I like it when they show respect to each other..
You're welcome, lol.
It’s hard to believe that a two time champ could improve so much but he has! This Yianni would destroy 2018 and 2019 Yianni. His only weakness coming out of was strength. His cardio wasn’t quite there. Save to say he fixed this
Yianni is one of the smartest, most talented wrestlers I've seen in my lifetime. His determination will make him successful in whatever he chooses to do in life.
Section 5 wrestler from Hilton NY, Dude is a Stright up stud!!!
I’m from Section 6, crazy to think this dude grew up and wrestled somewhere close by
Slick as hell …made that look like a practice room session….and dc as the commentary is great
93-1 for a reason. Straight…BEASTMODE
4:54 is just pure nasty!
Ridge lovett will win a national championship eventually at least one
Yianni is a savage on the ankles
I wanted loveit to win
Good job to both tbh
Yianni is an MVP
Ridge tried his best and is an awesome wrestler but yianni is just a different breed of wrestler.
I’m from Nebraska and also my favorite team and I feel bad for the guy
i can remember people out west were saying yanni is over rated and hes gonna get crushed in college lol ...New York Stand up!!!!
Congratulations champ!!! Well done!!! Awesome job.
He's the dominator!
super stud Yanni

Class act all the way
Yianni vs Zain Retherford. Who wins
Definition of an ass whoopin
6 points isn't even a MD. Not sure how this is an ass whoopin.
Yianni is a beast!!!
Awesome job!!

I just start to watch what’s going on and they change the camera angle.
YIANNIIIIIIIII
Cormier on the coms
25359 Orin Circle
If it's true that Lovett redshirted to basically avoid having to fight Yianni, I'm wondering how he'll do next year. Also, wonder if he'll stay at 149 or move up to 157.
the yianni wink 6:08
He’s on a Dan Gable level, feel me? But (edit) he avenged his loss.
Yianni got beat by McKenna idc what anybody says
What highschool Yianni go to
Nah that double is beautiful
Yianni is just as good as Spencer Lee.
Yianni is better than Lee in all forms. Yianni would've showed up to wrestle back had he of lost any round.
Is that Daniel Cormier at commentary?
Yes
Gianni has such a long upper arm
Is he coming back for another year?
Sorry but everyone knew Lovett didn’t stand a chance in this match I’m not sure anyone within a 30-40 pound range of Yiannis weight would have stood a chance against him the guy is going to be an Olympic gold medalist one day for sure
Didn’t Lovett take him to ot once
@@Kenzuri0 he did but Yianni said he wrestled like a coward in that match and he was just getting back into folk style like Vito, it’s on Flo’s ig
@@dillonmackay683 yea he didn’t make any excuses/called himself a coward and proved us right in this match
I'm a YD fan and YD knows to not overlook anyone. You're pretty naive in thinking Ridge didn't have a chance. A) It wasn't a shut out B) It wasn't a MD
Anyone know Yianni's wingspan? His reach is crazy
The commentary says "like 6ft wingspan" at 3:26
Yooo why don't they show college wrestling on tv they show everything else but wrestling
DC really needs to stick to coaching, his job is not to be a fan boy. There’s a reason he’s despised as a commentator
Under-utilized finish off the single leg is the circle-dump
Is dc calling the match?!?
Tell me why at 6:09 Yianni winks at him?
I think it was some good natured ribbing of Lovett. Ridge does a celebration at the end of his matches were he does a smile and wink like a Japanese Anime girl. It's actually pretty funny because Ridge is a goofball. Yianni was just letting him know, "Nope, not today."
That's a world class guy against college kid bye bye big 10 beat them all
Yianni mom is so fine!
Champ
I wanna see a DC vs Gable match!
shhhh lol. Go watch some wwe or something. This sport is for real wrestling fans.
Gable would smash DC in wrestling right now. In MMA, I’d go DC all day
He will beat Sidakov in ‘24 Olympics.
Different weights
@@Fiteclipz Maybe not in ‘24. ‘49 was a breeze for him. No reason he can’t be a ‘57 pounder next year and 74 KG in ‘24.
No way. He’s not going to be 74kg in 2024. He’ll stay at 65kg. I could see him go 70kg for the worlds but he’s not at that level just yet. He’s never even placed at a world championships, so let’s relax on him winning an Olympic gold and beating a legend like sidakov. There’s levels to this and he still has some climbing to do. Pretty sure nick lee and Oliver beat him recently. So let’s him win his own class first lol
Things happen for a reason
No contest steam rolled him
9:05 bruh sus
Might be time to go 157 next year. 149 has nothing for him.
Nah, I would hate to see an O’Connor or micic situation where he’s too small and has way less success, he’s obviously way better than those two guys but still.
Also 149 is a fun weight class
I’d rather see him back at 141
It has another NCAA championship for him lol
Daniel Cormier is annoying. He talks way too much.
Just taking away from the match
not the best at commentary but at least he’s bringing attention to the tournament lolz. more people know who dc is than watch the ncaa finals
@@mediumchicago_pizza No. His comments do not match the spirit of the sport. We don't need entertainment or mad publicity, we need proper matches with commentary that parallels the competition.
I watch from the Command Center with J’Den and Anthony Robles. More than made up for Shane Sparks being there lol
@@perrybullock yeah let’s not try and grow the sport at all. Dumbest shit I’ve ever read
Lol they so tiny
The fast monday immunohistologically bury because icicle notablely smile across a splendid bed. divergent, incredible pants
There are 9 guys that should repeat in 2023 but god is in control and not one of them will repeat that is my predition r and l is my name
Has nothing to do with god. If it did, you wouldn't bother predicting. How can god decide who gets to win? All created equal, with free will? When will this god talk stop contradicting itself?
Daniel Cormier is annoying commentating
How is he annoying?
nah Cormier is great
Yea get him out of there. Didn’t know we needed a Yianni cheerleader
Underrated opinion but I enjoy all the commentators it helps me pick up little things about every wrestler who wrestles.
