I've never understood fatphobia, if one of them tries to attack you, just run, or trot briskly. If you're near any stairs, go up. Crisis averted.
That's where I went wrong, I hid inside. Then they huff and puffed and blew my house down.....😂😂😂

As a thin woman who has always had a healthy fast metabolism let me just say that the overweight girls that i attended school with were the meanest cruelest people to me. I have never believed in disrespecting anyone upon their appearance or weight. They called me anorexic, bean pole, disgusting etc, then would turn around and constantly complain about people making fun of them when in reality i rarely ever heard them being put down.
It's amazing how unoriginal the name calling is. I was called the same ones there. I didn't break 5f5, and 95 lbs till 20 something.
Same. And, at 50 years of age, I still get nastily skinny shamed by (mostly) overweight women who seemingly have zero clue as to why I find it so offensive.
@@TinaDougherty they’re jealous for sure
I used to weigh in over 300 lbs, I dropped down to 135 (5'6") but, growing up I was often Ridiculed by ppl I didn't know, because I was fat, and interestingly enough, I was ridiculed later by ppl I did know when I lost the weight, telling me I was anorexic looking 😂 can't please everyone I guess. But I'm still happy with my appearance and I am healthy 😊
So true.... is it not... interesting how the people that want to play the victim, are the ones victimizing others....(hating on the others they actually aspire to be like, or at least in their head) :) (love your comment, well said)
I used to be 365lbs...a truly big girl. I would get so mad at doctors for blaming all of my issues on my weight, right down to catching a lot of colds every year. I always thought they were just being lazy. Turns out that they were right! When I lost the weight, my reproductive system went from being so sporadic to the point that I was told that I was going through early menopause in my 30s to being able to set my calendar by my periods when I am now in my 40s. I went from bronchitis and multiple bad colds every year to maybe 1 sniffles. I was starting to have issues with my bladder, and the weight loss fixed that. I was heading to diabetes quickly, and my sugar numbers are fantastic now. The doctors aren't there to make you feel better mentally...that's your job...they are there to fix your body, and your body's biggest problem is that you are suffocating all of your organs with all of the FAT. Stop trying to silence the people telling you that you need to lose weight...start listening to those voices, but make your internal voice even louder, and have that voice tell you to put down that cake, drop the body fat, and pick up a set of weights.
Interesting. I lost 30 pounds and got pregnant easily after. So easily, my kids are only 10 months apart
Well spoken
I used to be 396 lbs and within 13 months, I lost 150 lbs. I feel better, I no longer have insanely high blood pressure and its all because I LOST WEIGHT.

Brown fat makes lose weight faster.
But people eat a lot of sugar, salt, alcohol, and smoke.

It is very rewarding to the person who needs to lose weight but also true for people around you, who loves you, really loves you. I always swam and I wish my cousin could swim with me too. He knew how but was too fat. We all encouraged him to lose weight so he could swim with me (rollerblade, bike, volleyball) and beat my ass... And he did... LOL. I got tired of being called fat so I did something about it. it took 3 years to drop 110 pounds. Everything about me changed for the better. It wasn't easy, to start but I did it doing 3 minor workouts a day, One in the morning, once after lunch and once after dinner. After three months, it just became a routine habit. I ate a lot of protein to help build muscle mass and stopped eating after 5 pm at night. I am still large but my body is not flabby anymore. Maybe I should say I work out 4 times, I do walk my street at night, a round trip is 1 mile.

Imagine going to the doctor for health concern and then getting mad when they bring up a concern about your health.
It’s not helpful. People are aware that they’re overweight. They don’t need to be told.
@@AnaLucia-wy2ii well obviously some people are unaware their weight is causing a health issue. If not there wouldn't be this issue of people having heath issues due to their weight but still believing they are perfectly healthy especially with everyone saying being overweight is not unhealthy for anyone.
@AnaLucia-wy2ii It's not helpful? Well neither is being fat. Maybe if they knew how bad it was to be fat they would stop I don't know doing the things that make them fat.
Unfortunately, as much as I understand that being overweight is a genuine health problem that desperately needs to be addressed, I also think there are some doctors out there who make people feel very small because they are overweight. I remember a doctor visit from about 12-15 yrs ago (during a time when I was about 10lbs overweight) and when the doctor came in he looked down at my chart where the weight was listed, back up at me, then back at the chart. He then proceeded to tell me “Wow, I was expecting a massive morbidly obese person, but you actually look healthy at that weight.” He then proceeded to tell me what diet and exercise he would have prescribed to me if I wasn’t from dense-boned heavily muscled stock that makes me 20-30lbs heavier than other fit people even when I have 0 fat on my body. I was there for a sinus infection and walked out feeling shamed for my genetic line.
@@ghostwriter4565 huh, if you're 20-30lbs more than considered fit people in your height, and its not because of fat Also considering the bone density don't affect significant role in body weight, then you're must be a very muscular person. That's a bodybuilder wet dream to have a genetic like you.
And how's the doctor expect a morbidly obese person if you're 10lbs overweight of your body chart?
3:56 i love how he never considered that her being overweight is part of the issue. How is he a doctor?!?!
My favourite part of this is Michaels small noise of disgust at 6:30 🤣 it's like art
I remember when I first started losing weight and a cashier who saw me frequently noticed and said, "I'm not sure if I can say this, but you're looking good! You've lost weight, haven't you?" and I smiled and said that yes, I'd lost quite a bit and was still working on it. She looked so relieved that I wasn't offended and I'm still baffled as to how a sincere *compliment* of any kind can be offensive!?
I think many overweight people are inwardly really down on themselves for being overweight, so any compliment from someone seems like an insult to them. My younger sister has this problem. I complimented her after seeing her for the first time in a few weeks as she had been on vacation to Europe. What I had said was, "you look happy." I then had to endure her tirade about how dare I comment on her weight, at the end of which I replied, "I hadn't, but ok" and walked out the door.

If you are ever unfortunate enough to be stuck in the social orbit of people who think they're all that, won't speak to you, deliberately leaving you out, pretend they don't see you in public, and so on.... let me just tell you, it TICKS me off when I've lost a few pounds and suddenly start getting 'approving' comments from these jerks. A few pounds overweight and you could die of loneliness.... surrounded by those same people.
I'm always tempted to tell them "I'm just as unpleasant as I always was, condensed".
The cashier though, sounds like a casual acquaintance who was happy for you.
@@marym922 Casual acquaintance, yes. And I'd lost 80lbs. 😁 Blimey, I know what you mean though. There are people I've known (to see, but not to talk to) who are friends of friends etc, and they haven't said anything to me since I've known them, and then they come up to me telling me I look "good" or "healthy" and never say anything again. Why even bother, mate? Just keep ignoring me. 😂 (I'm an introvert, so honestly just keep ignoring me)
The stupidity behind anyone being offended by a compliment is, from what I've read on various sites, is that "No one should be complimenting anyone's appearance because you have no idea what they've been through, or are going through, and even though you think you're being kind, you're not."
If someone I see only occasionally notices my weight loss (a work in progress right now) and says something nice about it, you can know that I'll be climbing up onto the nearest roof and shouting my joy from up there (virtually, of course, not literally)!! It would make me super happy that anyone would notice I've been working hard to get healthier and lighter!

And the chick that was talking about her thought she really did something. How is she a professional? I wouldn't go to anyone who acts like too much fat isn't a bad thing. She doesn't care about health because too much fat is unhealthy in itself. Sure, skinny people can be unhealthy but obesity is unhealthy, all that extra weight is unhealthy. As someone with a disabled body, I want to be left out of the "body positively" movement. Stop feeling sorry for disabled people, very few of us appreciate it or want to see ourselves as victims.
I think because they don’t believe in the soul, the acceptance of their body becomes paramount for their “self validation” because they think that’s all there is.
That's why I wrote One Ball Man. ...With one ball, I can do all.
I agree as a fellow disabled person I refuse to let it get in the way of my life is it hard to walk and run sure is but you know what my kids happiness is more important being outside running around with them and being present in their life is more important than anything I’ve got going on with me

If he was my only choice for a doctor, it’s WebMD for me!
This is the comment I was looking for.
Could his shirt be any tighter? What a creep. Like a woman doctor showing cleavage.
I don't think it's fat phobia, but I've had doctors treat me a certain way because I'm overweight. I went into planned parenthood for a pregnancy test and possible yeast infection. At the end of the visit, the nurse handed me a "pamphlet" which was a piece a paper, printed from a website, folded in half with my BMI and what a healthy BMI should be. Another instance, I was having fertility issues and went to see a doctor, who told me I shouldn't want to get pregnant being "as big as I was," and refused to help me until I lost 50lbs.
I think if you go into the doctor's, the doctor's job is to judge you. There are some doctors who are going to shame you for your weight and others who just won't say it out loud. 😅 It is what it is.
Tbf being fat does affect fertility
@@isabellaeleina It very much does. When you are obese, you have an excess of fat; therefore, you have an excess of fat cells. Fat cells produce estrogen. High estrogen levels can affect ovulation, ovarian cysts, endometrial lining overproduction, and uterine polyps. It throws off your hormones.
But it's not always the sole reason for infertility. And a doctor should be running tests first in order to determine what needs to happen. Turns out, I had cysts on my ovaries, closed fallopian tubes, and adenomyoma in the lining of my uterus. My weight wasn't going to change my ability to get pregnant.

I guarantee you that her weight dissents help her spinal defect AT ALL. Lol
From what I understand, the reason TikTok tries to censor the larger lady “dancing” is because the software is searching for exposed skin, not anything else. So because there is more skin to see, the algorithm gets confused and assumes she’s nude, the color of her shirt probably doesn’t help.
well, sure that Might be the case.. i definitely do not know.. but it could also just be a coincidence , and she didnt get the notification/warning for the Non-fatty (or she is just lying and got it for both or even got it for the non fatty, etc)
I believe it is because of how much of her thighs were exposed. The "fit" woman had her thighs pretty well covered where the "larger" woman had her shorts pulled up above her thighs into the skin fold. So I agreed with it because 1 vid has her covered like a person walking down the street where the other one looks like she is in underwear because her shorts are pulled up exposing her full thigh area.

Doctors aren’t there to be your friend. They are there to be an advocate for your health, oftentimes in spite of the patient’s insistence on doing things counter to their good health. And honestly it’s mainly folks who are dead set on not caring about their weight who get offended when it’s brought up. People trying to better themselves tend to want to bring it up to measure how they are progressing, to hear the doctor encourage their good decisions and provide validation that the tough choices have begun to produce better health outcomes for them.
The doctor is there to be your partner in achieving the healthiest version of yourself that you can manage. That means getting the harsh reality check we often need at times to shape up.

All health care from now on must be based on affirmation. When I see my doctor, he'll be delighted to learn that I drink & smoke too much, gleefully punching my inevitable heart/lung & liver transplants into his business plan.
Body positivity started out as fighting the idea that every one needs to look like a pinup doll but now it’s gone too far
I thought it was about if you were in a serious accident and your bodies messed up and it was to not make fun of them
It would be pretty awesome if everyone looked like a pinup doll! Then again, if everyone did, it wouldn't be special anymore. It would just be normal
Precisely.. it was about accepting that not everyone is a size 2. Cellulite exists. Not all men are muscly. Not all women have curves etc etc etc... now it's just "ACCEPT MY FAT ASS WANTS THREE SEATS ON A PLANE AND I DONT WANT TO PAY FOR IT OR YOU'RE PHOBIC!" ... -.-

Many of these arguments are exactly what drug abusers say to excuse not getting clean. Food addiction is real but sadly excused by our culture by and ‘large’.
That pun is a big mood 😜
It is actually a result of the Ad vent ist cult food pyramid and the never proven lipid hypothesis.
In Seattle we also excuse the drug addictions.
You easily lose weight by getting brown fat.
Kids were born with brown fat.
Brown fat makes lose weight faster.
But people eat a lot of sugar, salt, alcohol, and smoke.
these things cause toxins.
The toxins cause the brown fat to disappear. the brown fat turns to white fat.
You can get back the beige fat. Beige fat also helps to lose weight but a little slower than brown fat but it works.
You have to eat vegetables, fruits, and healthy stuff to get brown fat.
Also showering for 5 minutes in cold water or wearing less warm sweaters helps to increase
the beige fat. Also drinking a herbal tea like green tea helps too.
Exactly people don’t go around saying it’s ok go do more drugs .. they commend quitters but with sugar people are like oh how can you quit eating that and so on ..
Imagine going to the doctors because of your body not being in the right state to function and the first thing you say is “DONT CHECK MY WEIGHT I KNOW IM SEVERELY OBESE AND IT PROBABLY IS CAUSING MY HEALTH ISSUE BUT JUST SKIP OVER IT.” I’ll guarantee you you’re gonna be put out the office.
Difference is, the second one demands you bring them Solo and the Wookiee!
I use to weight 200+ lbs.. I was always tired, depressed, didn't want to do anything and THOSE PEOPLE would say to me "Girl you look fine" "You're perfect the way you are". Fuuk those people, they are hurting people more so than helping. When I finally took a hold of my life and lost the weight I felt SO MUCH BETTER! It's as if they want to keep you looking a certain way so they can hold some sort of power over you. It's the weirdest thing.
100% the people who actually cause more problems, are the ones that TELL YOU what you WANT to hear...not what you should hear ;) well said, proud of you! :)

I have been seeing my Doctor for well over 30 years and i have excess weight and not once have they commented on my weight. They only concentrate on what i made my appointment for which they ask when i call and make the appointment.
Our society has gotten so pathetically weak!!!
and its all being done on purpose to destroy the society along with all the evil laws and corruption and everything else that has happened in the last 3.5 years.
Last time I went to my GP he was tip toeing around the fact that I was overweight. I came right out and said it, “I’m overweight, that has an impact on my health, I understand.” Dude you’re a doctor, tell me the truth.
Purpose of a doctor is not to tell you that you're this or that i.e tell you're overweight, or skinny. That should be obvious. Purpose of a doctor is to tell you if being overweight has an impact on your health.
I'm overweight, and my doctor didn't say anything in that regard. He did the blood work, asked questions about my activity did some mobility tests, and in the end calculated the risk of having a heart attack. Since my blood work was fine, heart attack risk at 3%, he didn't mention anything about loosing weight. I respect that kind of a medical professional.
You should lose weight, you'll feel better.

From your comment I can see you have not understood what I said or the point I was making.
Doctors are scared of you leaving a bad review or that you’ll sue them for being bigoted meanies. They also can’t run a business if there are no customers.
Still cowards for not addressing obvious problems.
There actually is an exercise regimen that doesn't involve losing weight, it's called bulking, but it's about replacing fat with muscle, so that exercise physiologist is still full of crap saying you can keep your fat and still be healthy.
Im TRYING to listen seriously and then you 10:55 staphh 🤣

My wife has extreme anxiety. Over 20 years together (I’m very calm and have brought her down a little) and two pregnancies, she has gone from 90 lb to 105. Her medical records state, “denies eating disorder” and she had different doctors in the Army all say they were worried about the little weight she gained while pregnant. So, no, skinny people do not get praised. And the next person who tells her to eat a hamburger is getting knocked out.
I'm so glad she has such a loving and patient (and protective) husband on her side! ❤
I'm 95lbs at my heaviest and I get really nasty comments. People say I must have an eating disorder, am sick/dying...some even said I need plastic surgery coz real women have big breasts. It's super annoying.
It's awesome that you're supportive of your wife 😊
My wife had the same thing happen. She also had multiple health issues later during her time in service, me as well. Only difference was that the PAs always believed me and always questioned her, so far as claiming anything she went through was "all in her head".

That is what the *original* body positivity movement - self-acceptance to enable an obese person to care enough about themselves to give them the will to work on their health.

Personal issues like being over weight, Should not be a movement.
1. I have some pounds to lose and I am fat phobic. Being overweight is not attractive. Yes I have some minor health issues which factually do make it harder to lose weight but that is not an excuse nor does that mean I cannot lose weight.
2. Who goes to that weird doctor? His voice alone grates on the nerves, not to mention those ugly glasses.
3. They always have weird eyeglasses.
4. As a female, I don’t believe blue hair.
Good for you. I have extra respect for people who are working to lose weight when they have health challenges that make it harder. This is motivating to me, because I know I'll have some baby weight to shed in a few months. It was hard last time to lose it, but I felt so much better after losing the baby weight.
You’re completely right, my thoughts on that character exactly.

I love how all these people who harp on "body shaming" are ok with calling us thin people things like skinny or bony, like those wouldn't be offensive. That would be like me using jiggly or flabby to describe someone. They would screech about it to no end!
Exactly!!!!
Woke people are very magnetized to one pov so when u disrupt that and say that them doing one thing for one group is hurting another group, they go hog wild on u and the next thing u know ur getting some random object thrown at u simply cause u don’t conform to their hive mind
I was called a bag of 🦴 s like that wasn't offensive towards me 😢
went to my doctor I wasnt feeling sick I just wasnt feeling well. Doc told me I needed to lose weight. I tried to argue I was only a couple of Kgs overweight. He grabbed my belly and jiggled it as he said you're delusional if you think you're not a fat kunt. and thats where my fitness journey began
Don't forget the "REAL woman" thing they throw around to imply that women of normal or thin weight are not real 🙄
Bahaha, you’re the best. That’s why we go to doctors to be told everything is great.
I went to doctor about my knee. He said I had arthritis. He said that loosing weight might help. Thank god for his honesty! I lost 40 lbs and my knee pain is gone! Yes GONE!! I guess he could have avoided telling me the truth and suggested surgery, medications and a donut. Glad he was a professional!!

When a doctor is not allowed to say that you are obese and it is unhealthy?😂
It is unhealthy to be obese
I'm obese and I've never heard any doctor talk to me this way. I've been to many doctors including various specialists and that's never come up. My family doctor is simply told me to eat healthier to avoid diabetes and other issues that come with being fat. However, spinal surgery does have a lot to do with one's weight and you need to be at a healthy way to before they're going to consider you a good candidate for spinal surgery. That girl's just foolish.
That's much more common and I believe it is negligent. A healthy weight is a huge part of ...Health! Obesity is dangerous. The topic should be brought up in a kind and caring way, but it should be brought up.
You are fatly correct. Back issues actually don't necessarily arise from being fat, HOWEVER, being fat typically implies you don't exercise, which DOES cause back issues. No back muscles = shitty back.
Same - I couldn’t get the doctors to talk to me about my weight for the longest time - and it turned out I had many conditions adding to me weight gain (like thyroid issues). Sigh
@@jennapulice7571 but was your "lowest weight" still obese?

My friend regularly posts with the hashtag #肥是美 or fat is beautiful. My 12yo son saw it one day, and being someone who worked on changing his eating habits (not by starving but by eating less sugar and fried food, less rice and more clean protein and veggies) to rectify his gut issues and obesity, he remarked, “I agree. You can be fat and beautiful, but what you can never be is fat and healthy.” I’m thankful he has the sense to see all of that and not get offended because he was told he had to make changes in his lifestyle to get healthier.

You can not shame a person, a person can only hear your words, and feel ashamed of themselves. Its not up to us, its up to them.

I'm big, and have fought with this all my life. I'm not into body positivity. I'd rather a doctor approach my weight directly than ignore the elephant in the room, so to speak. That said, much of this has come about due to fat people being ridiculed, whether in school, at work or at home. I don't need to be affirmed that my weight is OK or that I look good to anyone. I do expect to be treated with the same respect and human decency as anyone else.
Well said. Best to you!
Ridicule is how society corrects character flaws. Yes, sometimes it's done poorly (OK, a lot of the time), but it does have a useful purpose.
@reliantncc1864 you're welcome to that opinion, but I haven't found that sort of treatment to be helpful. I've received a lot of it, particularly from others with flaws of their own that need work.
