I've been preparing to start a Disciples of Tzeentch/Slaves to Darkness army, and these lore videos have been a great help.
I think I'm going to have them come from one of the cities that Sigmar abandoned at the outset of the Age of Chaos. They turned to other gods, but mostly Cheznett (their name for Tzeentch), out of a desperate need for help surviving the ravages of the forces of Chaos, especially Nurgle. It was the powers of the city's sorcerers, thus empowered by Tzeentch, that the city survived.
They don't recognize themselves as followers of Chaos, their pantheon of gods have a benevolent face, but hey are all either Tzeentch or a Daemon of Tzeentch in a concealed form. They view mutation as blessed transformation, rather than something awful. The human being a blank canvas for magic to work on and shape into something greater.
The city itself still stands tall, but it is an internally divided mess where plotting and scheming sorcerer-lords compete and cooperate in ever-shifting enmities and alliances. Magic and cunning are the hallmarks of the most successful. Each wizard-lord has a private army of arcanites and tzaangors, either produced through slave raids on Tzaangor tribes, deliberate arcane transformation of common conscripts and volunteers. While they war and compete, they hate the forces of Sigmar way more than each other - they see Sigmar as the devil figure in their religion - Sigmar the Betrayer, Sigmar with Deserter, who left them all to die.
Playing into the mutation theme, I have them living in Ghyran. They see it as their divine right and mandate to twist life to their own purposes. They study magic and alchemy in an attempt to induce desired change. Usually this results in absolute horrors that need to be destroyed. Occasionally, something useful is created, such as trees with wood as strong as iron, or cattle that grow massive mutated, but edible, tumors.

One thing I adore about AoS is the stronger presence of cults like the Arcanites.
Chaos mortals in WFB were always a bit one dimensional, mostly northern barbarians. These were supposed to be different themselves, e.g. some were based on vikings, others on turko-mongolic steppe people etc. But it was never present on the TT or in main stories, but mostly as background lore.
Similarly there were very interesting cults in the background lore. But again mostly background, the northern tincans were all that counted.
So I am happy that the arkanites have this cults hidden in plain sight element

Doug, the new sub faction format is great. I like all of your lore content so if you need to hit the refresh button to keep the process fresh for you. Go for it.
I like how you don't always assume your audience is an expert and I like your signature, "Why is this cool?"
    Keep rockin. Thanks!

Acanites: Check out these sick gains brah. Yesterday I did like 100 reps.

Just got back into warhammer because life is slowing down a little bit. I’ve been a fan of you forever! I remember when you made a video for me that I requested! I’m going to keep liking videos and supporting! Keep it up 2+ tough!

Curseling lore is different between AoS and Old world. Lead to many loremaster get it wrong. Some even mistake the new model as the curseling Twin from total war WH3

It's a shame they made the curseling a thing rather than the old world character where two brothers were fused together.

Its a surprise they didnt i mean they brought back sigvald, they could've made him the named character and made a generic form imo if they still wanted an open ended character

I guess they are planing to bring Vilitch back as a different exalted Hero for Tzeentch in the future.
      Like Valkia (hopefully) for Khorne.

    • @adambielen8996
      @adambielen8996 Před rokem

@@beardhammerwargaming Nope, Vilitch is just dead. Tzeentch doesn't care one bit about his mortal champions. If they die then they were failures that deserved it. Khorne brings Valkia back because he actually loves her.

I definitely don't like ALL named characters in Warhammer, because they are not "my dudes". Unnamed characters that I can name and invent story are always my choice.
In addition, the presence of named characters turns an endless seting into a 'small village' where the same faces are constantly jostling. Like the Horse Heresy - it seems to be an endless galaxy, but in fact everything is around primarchs.

There was already a curseling since AOS started, since Vilitch was a warhammer fantasy model

Tzeentch has always been my first love in AOS. Fate, chance and Tzeentch's blessings helped secure us a Silver in a recent Warcry store tournament... although our Gaunt Summoner tied in every single match. I guess he must have lost favour....

Hey man. Loving these vids. Ive been relying on them for a long time now.
I was wondering if possible or if you would consider, matching the picture shown in the vid with the unit you are describing. This may be too much but I thought it may help with your descriptions
