Jiwon Moon's director statement:
"The idea for Nose Nose Nose EYES! came from an existing female criminal known as 'Lady Uhm.' Lady Uhm stabbed the eyes of her family and blinded them in order to get insurance money. Nose Nose Nose EYES! tries to picture the life of the young girl who has such a mother, and asks the audience the following questions. 'What if your mother is a psychopath who harms your family to get insurance money?' "What if you are a ten-year-old girl living under the absolute influence of such a mother?'"
ALTER The mother was definitely a psychopath because the father ask his daughter to call her uncle for help, so the mother wasn't doing it because the father asked her. But do psychopaths reveal what they are doing?
Now I understand this a bit better. At first I questioned that the mother was becoming possessed by her husband ghost in that final shot, now I think it's just that the mother is upset by the fact that she's not gonna get anymore money with him dead, so now that that cash cow is gone, she has to find a new source, setting her sights on her own daughter.
You fricking yeeeet out of there! No one is taking my eyes from me for money!
I've heard about that story from Jang Hansol. She's so creepy

Anyone else notice how 'nose nose nose' in Korean is pronounced as 'ko ko ko' which correlates to 'coo coo coo' as in the sound of a bird. While the mother sorted through many needles to gauge the husband's eye out, she ended up selecting the bird pin. She cooed and ruffled around. This makes me assume she was a bird in the flesh of a human, as birds tend to pick at eyeballs of the dead.

"Do it to dad" god, having to say something like that must be terrible, being forced to cause that to happen to someone you love for your own safety. And having to hear that from your own daughter too. this absolutely terrifies me
I mean if I was the dad in that situation I don’t think I could blame her one bit. A. Mom was gon do it any motherfuckingway B. It was a manipulative tactic to further break the kid and make the kid feel implicated to make her easily controlled and silenced. If I was her dad I would tell her that it wasn’t her fault at all mc it wasn’t. The mom just twisted it so that it felt that way to the kid.
Truly horrifying Bc real people def use tactics like that to control and manipulate and abuse in real life. Words fail.

The way the dad was trying to get up and help his daughter was heartbreaking. He was looking at her to make sure she was alright. I feel so bad for him, though I understand why the daughter said "do it to daddy"
And hear is breathing he was like loud with it
The eyes are the most painful place to get hurt so she said "do it to daddy"
She was a kid. And kids don't have the courage to face things like this. I totally understand why she said do it to daddy. She must've felt horrible saying that too but kids don't know any better and besides the girl tried everything she could to save herself but the mother wasn't letting her go so that poor little girl had to say that in order to save herself
Lol if you didn’t understand why the girl said that, you probably are a psycho…
This is what I LOVE about Korean horror. It’s not the same as western horror where it’s gore and jumpscares, Korean horror is more based on a psychological message, and is very disturbing. It’s great!
Psychological horror isn't exclusive to Koreans. Western horror encompasses just about all types

Man, oh man. Great performances! The mother/daughter dialogue in the living room was keenly "off". It is the little things like this that both create great art and should be considered a grave warning. Well done! Also, wearing those eyelid clamps ...Beast-mode level commitment. Bravo!
We must agree! Jiwon Moon's film creates such a disturbing world and cast of characters, where everything is perfectly placed in the film to unnerve the audience and hint at the horrors that are awaiting us.
The use of eye clamps isn't original. It was first done in a 1970's movie called A Clockwork Orange.

One of the few scary films I could not watch until the end. Very, creepy and disturbing. The mother is an amazing actress. Her switch from feeding her daughter (who can't be more than 7 or 8) with a playfulness that suddenly turns into calling her little girl a bitch was an amazing change of body language and tone. In the room with the dad, her total insanity slowly strips away from the very fine veneer of normalcy, like someone rapidly peeling the layers of an onion away to a core squirming with rot and maggots. Nice touch with all the rotten apples on the tray in the middle of the little table and only a couple of normal looking slices. Metaphore of the mother's ongoing decay and the only two healthy people in the house, she is eating her way into. She says it's for the money, but that's just an excuse to unleash the true rot and monster at her core.

The first question asked by the father is "Did you eat anything?" which is a common thing for an older generation (this film looks like it takes place in the early 90s) to ask the young "everything's alright?" This film is so culturally accurate!
I don't think so. The mother has a cellular phone.

One hand is being held, the other, the one you may have confused, is being used to push from her mother

Now I understand why her father's eyes looked weird in the girl's dream. The girl's dream is a eery prediction that her father's was going to become blind and disfigured even though it seems he could see her pretty well. And to make it really sad, that the girl could have sense some changes in her mother just to warn her father to make a necessary escape before she did something to her father. Oh, if that girl was older and if she had called someone who could help save her father since that girl has a hidden talent by using her dream as a warning message to help save her father's life and possibly prevent an insurance scam by uh, calling the police and having the mother committed to a mental hospital. What if that same dream can be used as a way to foretell a future event before it actually happened? Is that what the girl is actually using her sixth sense, in a form of a dream of her father's eyes being different, to predict that something bad would happen to her father? It would be interesting if a dream can be used as a way to predict a future event before it actually happens?
I have that , all the dreams i see are predictions of things that will happen in rl , sometimes i dont know when it will happen because i fail to interpret the dream correctly or when exactly will that event occur, or sometimes i might predict deaths but i am not able to see who will die , for example before yesterday i dreamt i attended a funeral , it was a stranger , yesterday my dad tells me that his bestfriends mother passed away , i wasnt very surprised because i knew for sure that someone was going to die.

Facts
I don't know what it is about Asian horror films, but they are hands down some of the best and scariest out there. Maybe it's the depth of the stories/plots that forces me to think more critically of the stories within the story. Or maybe it is the fact that minimal special affects are employed. Whatever the case, this one was stellar!! Especially the acting.
Obviously the mother has major personality disorder problems (ie schizophrenia, multiple personalities, sociopathy, anti social, psychopathy) either way she’s a very cunning person I believe the father wasn’t dead in the beginning but the child guilt manifested. The child obviously knew what was going on but from a child like perspective along with mothers long years of deceit. Remember how the little girl recalled a past injury that the father endured who’s not to say she hasn’t witness countless other brutality but was told it was good. I also would like to point out the possible outcome that the daughter too will either suffer the way her father did or she’ll suffer psychology and will end up like her mom. Ergo the cycle of insanity?? This is just my take. I don’t see any deep metaphorical sense in this just straight horror.. I’m impressed
The mother doesn’t just have a disorder, she’s evil, trying to fling as many diagnoses as you can doesn’t fix that.
(Olivia Burres) yeah schizophrenia combined with a “medical” obsession (I assume it was lobotomy?) is danger
Thank you, I was kinda confused on what was going on
Dissociative identity disorder doesn't cause shit like this, so don't group it in with the rest of those illnesses.
Maybe the father is already gone, and she's just next.

Wow! That was a great horror film. No supernatural, no creatures, no gore just the atmosphere seemed so dark and hopeless. I’ll take k-horror and j-horror over domestic any day. The actor who played the mother was phenomenal.
This short took me back to the first time I got a needle in my eye. The claustrophobic, trapped feeling of no escape...I needed that oxygen mask at the point she had the bird pin in hand! As usual, excellent short!
Wendy you got a needle in your eye? what happened? did it hurt? omg im so glad you’re okay now!!
Kurumi thanks me and my eye are fine. An aneurysm ruptured in my eye and to help seal off the vessel that caused it, the Dr. put a medication in my eye to help heal it.. It healed and my sight is 100%. People won’t believe it, but the shot did not hurt. At the time, though I wondered if I tried to escape before the procedure , would they chase me down😁

Disturbing, and quite realistic. It reminds me of the one psychopath woman I encountered in my workplace years ago, this film definitely captured the aspects of them being pathological liar and sadistic bully. Hope one day psychopaths can be recognized and put to their place by the whole society, so they can't hurt nobody.
That’s exactly what I thought too from a course I took about 4 yrs ago and dealt with a pathological liar and sadistic bully
I thought the same may they get out in jail or mental hospital so we don’t have to continue dealing with such people

This might not be my favorite ALTER film ever, but I think it's the most frightening one I've ever seen. In spite of the small cast, limited set, and mimnima/no special effects, I had to stop a handful of times in the last several minutes just to calm down. The fear was palpable and overpowering. The director did a brilliant job of putting us in the daughter's fearful position. Very well done. It helped a lot that I watched this one during the day!
Simply frightening and expertly delivered. Lingering heart pounding and toes curling.
Your best films' storylines revolve around families in intimate settings. This entry recalls the often incredibly sadistic Japanese horror flicks of the sixties including "Jikogen", " Onibaba" and "Moju(Blind Beast"). Those eyelid clamps made me think of " A Clockwork Orange ". Thanks for the creepy flick !

I wish I had the ability to instantly like every video on this channel. Never seen something so brilliant, I'm obsessed with it.
That was incredibly suspenseful for such a short film. Both the woman and girl were excellent in their respective roles.
It seemed like something deeper was going on besides a greedy wife deciding to "cash in" on her husband's life insurance, what with the premonitions and almost psychic link the daughter share with her father, but, at least to me, it's never made clear one way or the other.
Which normally drives me crazy, but this was crafted so well that it just fits the story to leave so much to the viewer's imagination. Bravo!!!
