Looks great. Another great video. Glad to see you back in the shop and posting again.
thank you ryan! We have a ton coming up!
Glad your back!! Your videos help a bunch!!
yes me too! Its been awhile but we are back rolling again!
While I love my new LowRiderST, I hate those stupid clam shell bags. I traded my RG Special for the ST because I had to admit at 70, the bike is just too heavy for me. Thank you Steve, for your excellent step by step video, showing how easy is to step up to a proper set of Harley Bags
I hear a lot of complaints about those bags and this guy was in the same boat...really didnt like them...but this worked out really good for him. Thank you for checking it out!
I don’t have a problem with the clam shell bags but those are definitely more storage , thanks for the info
Thanks for the detailed video. I swapped my bags out with your help!
sorry for the late reply... and glad to help!!
Saw an ST last week with this set up. Looks really good in person.
looks way different, shop looks different as well looks like you have been busy!
way more room. glad to see you back
yes sir...added on to the shop....an extra lift and lots more space...it was needed! Im glad to be back though.
Soooo much better! A must if you’re trying to cruise on this bike.
Its a solid option for more room for sure! Thank you for checking it out!
Looks better with the new bags
Thank you for checking out the video! Its a solid option for more room for sure!
Great option when you have to travel, or on long trips when you need a lot of stuff. I think our bikes have to be flexible and suit our needs. On my road king Classic I have the original panners("leather" ones) but i also bought hard cases like these either for that different look or to suit different luggage needs. Also have differtnt windshields to choose from when in summer, winter, highway use or just chugghing around. IMHO this is the best way to live and keep falling in love with your bike❤. Keep up the great work, Cheers from Italy! 😉
Agreed 100%!! I love the old panner bags and the look is awesome...but sometimes you just need more room...thank you for checking it out my friend! Much appreciated!
@@sikbaggers my pleasure! 😉
Nice upgrade!
He loves them! Still rocking them today with no issues!
Looks great!!
Thanks Eric!
So much better. I hate the clam shell bags on mine. Gonna need to get some of these
sorry for the late reply...some of these slipped by me and yes they much better than the clamshells
Looks good
Thanks for checking it out!
Looks so much better than the stock bags!
Agreed and way more room in them! Thanks for checking it out!!
I dig it. I absolutely dig it. I think the rear fender needs to come down a bit to match the length of the bags. But I absolutely dig it.
Agreed! A tad longer fender would do the trick.
Nailed it! Great informational video! I LOVE the new look and am so happy to see those clam shells go away. You guys do great work! GO HARLEY RIDE SAFE BROTHER!!!
Im glad they worked out for you...definitely more room and equally sized bags. Were working on the chopped version of these too...not sure on the release date yet though.
Very nice looking
thank you andrew!
Waiting for chopped bags 🤙
Agreed
While I agree its not for everyone.... but until we get the smaller bags with the touring style lids I wanted to show people that they had options. We actually sell a ton of these for the ST as they stand but I think the shorter bags with this style lid will do better. Thanks for checking it out.
Suits the bike well. It has a performance look at the rear with the short stock fender!
yes agreed! Thanks for checking it out!
I’ve been thinking about maybe trading my ultra limited for an st or something because I’m not liking the weight of my bike. But I also didn’t like the clam shell bags, but this video is making my choice a little more towards the change. Thanks for the info.
Is it just me or does Steve sound like a dead-ringer for John Goodman???
Great vid gents!!!
hahah man...ive heard that about a million times and I just dont hear it...asked my wife and she laughed and said no, no you dont...but it cannot be ruled out as so many others have said the same thing.
TY SIK Badgers
You're very welcome!~
Awesome video. Gave me a vision for my Black 16 CVO-Breakout. I saw my ride with Advanblack fairing and touring saddle bags color matched. I never saw my ride like that before. In one day it can all be taken off, and ridden as a Original Love that seat. Gotta try one like it someday.
Thank you for checking it out Mark...its a great setup!
@@sikbaggers Oh I'm sure you're inspiring many a Advanblack product, and I thank you for your efforts- they give me great ideas.
Solid Nice 👍🏽
Thank you very much for checking out the video!!
@@sikbaggers welcome sir
Make the the clam shells in same size for both left and right they would sell like crazy compared to the off bags that come factory for the exhaust
we will not being making clam shell style bags. The design is not consistantly water tight, however we are making a chopped version of the touring bags, they are in production.
Tour saddle bags. Look Way!! Better! Now. I like that bike,
a little more
I think It looks so much better then them clamshell bags.
agreed! And much more room! Thanks for checking it out!
Does anyone know if the docking hardware works with Edward Richie sissie bars? Thanks.
Do those bags require a 2-1 exhaust? They look nice I think. Clamshells are for the euro bikes. Great video. Very informative.
yes it will require a short dump 2 into 1 pipe. Thank you for checking it out.
That is great. Totally moved that bike into a touring bike.
Indeed! Add a color matched tour pack with our quick release brackets and you really packing this bike for a trip! Smaller, lighter bike and tons of storage options...its a good deal.
For $1,100 I'd expect them to come pre-assembled. I ride mostly without stock bags attached. Would consider these if longer trips are in the future for me.
if your color is not in stock ready to ship and you have to wait the appx. 4 weeks lead time, they will come assembled. These are touring bags and anyone with a touring bike ordering bags usually doesnt need the lids so we sell them seperate. Also the hardware comes in chrome, black or color matched, so we are not going to stock every version of every color and every hardware already put together. "Edit for spelling" aka fat fingers.
Hi Mate, great videos , would you know if this possible to do to a sport glide
I know its possible but I do believe you need to modify the bracket...im trying to get one in my shop to do some testing
Looks nice, how do the bags work with the exhaust?
You will need a 2 into 1 shorty like on this bike to run this mod.
Great video BYW may I know is it can match my 21 Fatboy? Thanks
these are the ones for the fatboy here www.advanblack.com/black-hard-saddlebags-conversion-brackets-for-84-17-softail-heritage-deluxe-fatboy-springer.html
Do you feel any difference with the additional weight of the rails and bags in the rear end? Would you need to make a slight adjust to the preload on the rear shock?
no adjustment needed to the suspension unless you are packing them down..then yes...just like your clam shells you will need to adjust accordingly.
Is a longer bolt required from the kit when using the space with the bungking rear sliders? Also is it possible to just use a spacer on the opposite side to keep them symmetrical?
the bolt as plenty long with this kit and yes you can use a spacer on both sides
A vast improvement over the dinky clamshell bags!
Yes sir..thanks for checking it out Harold!
Love it. I dub thee, Low Glider ST.
hahah thats awsome! Thank you for checking it out!
Are you going to myrtle beach bike rally if so I will look for you, I want to talk to you about lights
hey robert...wont be going this year man...I want to get there son though, never been to that one
@sikbaggers, will this saddlebags fit with the stock dual exhaust on my 2023 fxlrs?
Must work on Sport Glide's too.
maybe...I havent tested it
Hell yeah that’s much nicer looks a lot better😎🥃🥃🥃🥃
Thank you Brian! The owner was super happy with the them! Thanks for checking it out!!
I have Tabs Slip Ons on my ST. Am i gonna have to get a different exhaust system to put these on?
look down on inner plastic fender at the bottom on your bike,..,.if your exhaust goes past that plastic piece then yes you will need shorter exhaust.
Are you guys going to offer a different fender to match the bags?
Not at this time no
I would think to start the weather seal at the back of the bags; any specific reason why at the hinge is best out of curiosity?
it really doesnt matter where you start it, if its edge to edge the the back wouldnt make a difference from the front but if you have to take those hinges out all you have to do is remove 2 inches from each side and boom the hinge comes out, glue the rubber back down..save yourself about 30 bucks on ne w seals. Plus thats where harley starts them so thats where I start them lol
@@sikbaggers gotcha! I have an FXLRST and have never really looked at the HD touring bags to know but that makes a lot more sense now.
WIsh the bags were chopped through like the Nasty Hogs bags and that they worked with the stock exhaust as I don't want to go 2-1.
@@KamberBCT I agree the chopped bags will look great and we are working on them now. It shouldnt be long before they are done and I get a set to test fit. But for now I just wanted show everyone that they had options. Hold off a bit longer and those chopped bags will be done!
@@sikbaggers yeah I keep hearing that but it’s been months. Hoping to see something soon and I appreciate the video for sure. Was good to see the potential challenges with the mounting hardware when installing but at the end it all fit without modification so that’s perfect. Looking forward to the chopped bags eventually as that’s 100% the route I want to go / am going.
2 questions:
1-What is the thickness of the spacer needed?
2-will a full length exhust fit with the bags on or are we limited to shorty style exhaust?
Thanks
appx. 3/4 inch spacer and and yes you will need to have a 2 into short pipe or you run the risk of the bag bar hitting the pipe. Figure out the size of your bolt and order a set of these in the proper size, and 3/4 inch stand off length amzn.to/3HAUVcA
@@sikbaggers thank you
Damn near a Road King.
damn near.
Who makes the rear brake light and signal bar? Interested for 2010 Fatboy lo and 2021 road glide
The ST comes with that ...its stock from HD
@@sikbaggers thank you, couldn't find it on HD's website.
@@patrickdezinna6489Probably need to get a service manual for the bikes that use that tailight, grab the part number, and call your dealer.
Im surprised yall dont sell the spacers for the bung king sliders
well...we might...I just found this issue while installing them
@sikbaggers if do definitely let Me know, I'll buy a set
Can this be done to the Sport Glide as well?
Not sure never tested it on a sport glide and its not listed for sport glides..not sure the difference if any on the mounting points
I wonder if they will fit on a 2022 heritage 114? They look good on there
we have bradckets for up to 17...im sure there are brackets on the market for the 18 and newer...its definitlky doable you just need the corrct brackets for your bike.
I’ll have to look into it. Thanks
Do you have bags for a Sportster, XL883N 2014?
im sorry not at this time.
Do these work on the Sport Glide?? They stole those clam shell bags from the Sport Glide
Yes it would be the same for the sport glide
If would be amazing if you could produce symmetrical bags that look similar to the oem bags but open from the top! No modifications required, just purchase them and install
Yeah, we wont be making anything like that but I'm sure someone will...these oem bags generate a lot of complaints.
@@sikbaggersaren't the main complaints the clamshell opening and asymmetrical bag design?
Can I get it color matched for my el Diablo?
No we dont do El Diablo..sorry
👍
Thank you for checking it out!
Awsome, always could use more space, if i cant carry it on my bike i don't need it.
The cage will sit for months without insurance. 😅
Thank you for checking out the video...and yeah they are a viable option for more room for sure.
will these work with a 13.5in mono shock?
Hey...I really have no idea, I havent tested them with that
wish low rider st was good for 2 up i would switch my 21 ultra for a low rider st but i ride alot 2 up when im off work
yeah...kind of small bike for 2 up...ive seen people do it but I cant imagine mid controls and two up being very comfortable unless your bar hopping
That clam shells are absolute trash and harley should be ashamed for sending em out the door. Good on you for coming up with a good solution.
Thank you, the owner loved the new bags!
Wanted to grab these for low rider st 2024 but to hard to get them two Australia 🇦🇺
I would imagine that there are a lot of parts hard to get over there...that sucks man
@@sikbaggers trying to speak to someone at Advenblack to see if we can sort something out and be first to do it out here where years behind the USA 🇺🇸
Will this work on a Sport Glide ?
With some modifications to the bracket they will..seen it done...but didnt get into detail with the owner on what was done...but they made them fit.
Will these fit a 23 Heritage Classic?
they will if you find the proper saddlebag rails
Looks great but you commit or don’t commit on these bags. Brackets are a hassle when you want to ride with bags off. Another excuse to get another bike lol RGST CVO ❤
yeah they are only quick detach for cleaning really...its the same on a touring model..if you remove the bags you still have the rails
Looks a lot better and way more functional.
yes they are..and water tight unlike the st bags. Thanks for checking it out!
If that had a classic rear fender on it, it would look a whole lot better.
Were designing some shorter bags with this style lid so it will pair up with the sporty rear fender..but for now this is a solid option for more room I think. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@sikbaggers How about a one piece unit, containing the fender, and twin bags?
Thanks for the excellent video. Offhand, do you know the approximate capacity of the clamshell vs the top-load bags? Has anyone tried to install some type of weather seal on the clamshell bags to improve weatherproofing?
thanks for checking it out and I sure dont...never took the time to really measure it out. sorry.
Much better. Those stock ST bags I just did not like. it was the difference in sizes.
yeah the 2 sizes is kinda goofy...once you see it you cant unsee it lol
@sikbaggers Exactly!!!!! Once I saw it, I lost interest in the ST.
Do the stock bags lock?
yes they come with locks and keys
Prefer the original bags ,I have a low rider st and no problem with the bags and when off it looks great
While I agree its not for everyone but until we get the smaller bags with the touring style lids, because they are water tight, I wanted to show people that they had options. We actually sell a ton of these for the ST as they stand but I think the shorter bags with this style lid will do better. Thanks for checking it out.
They look good but I'd have problem dragging the new bags. there's a reason they put the stock bags higher up.
bro we dont drag 6 inch drop bags,,you arent even going to come close to dragging stock touring bags
Looks like the owner changed over to a 2into1 exhaust .... Will these work with the original exhaust ????
unfortunately not...the pipes need to be shorter than the bag placement and/or lower than the swing arm under your rear foot peg. I apologize for not mentioning that.
@@sikbaggers That was gonna be my question also. Great video
@@sikbaggers oops!
What windshield is that?
clear view windshields www.clearviewshields.com/product-category/harley-davidson/
That exhaust is going to toast the right drawer.
negative...been on this bike for months now...from Illinois to Pennsylvania, down to Florida and back...no impact on the bags
When I saw the Low Rider ST, I was excited, but then when I saw the bags and the tiny gauge display, that was a deal breaker. I wish HD would get it right...
it seems there are few things on this bike that were definitly an after thought at HD ...thank you for chcking it out!
I dont mind the shape but the clam shell is kinda dumb.
BUT, the thing that reeeaaallly bugs me is that they are different sizes. Looks dumb from the rear.
The only thing I was concerned about the clam shells are they can leak pretty easy...kind of crappy design and yes the two sizes is really awkward. Once you see it, you ant un see it lol
Anyone know what floorboards and seat are on that ST?
Le Pera KickFlip Track Pleat Seat amzn.to/3TO8RWq and Kuryakyn 3597 Riot Mini Boards amzn.to/4aBvX9q
@@sikbaggers You are quick! Thank you!
@@josephbelgrod forgot to mention you will need brackets for those....that link is just the boards. and you are very welcome.
My Biggest Question is why aren’t they pre-assembled? Would seem that it would make sense that the manufacturer put it all together and just send it to the client.
If the product is not in stock and everything has to be painted then it will come assembled. Average wait time for paint is 4 to 6 weeks. We offer hardware in black and in chrome or even color matched hinges...so we may have the lids and bags in stock in the hardware in stock in a separate box and you will get it within the week. These are also touring model bags, so if someone with a touring model wants these then they dont need the lid and hardware, they already have it. make sense?
@@sikbaggers Absolutely!
What seat is that?
They are just to big for the bike IMO. I hate the way the clamshells open and not water tight at all. Would love a bag that was a bit smaller that the touring bags w a touring style lid. Great video.
While I agree its not for everyone but until we get the smaller bags with the touring style lids I wanted to show people that they had options. We actually sell a ton of these for the ST as they stand but I think the shorter bags with this style lid will do better. Thanks for checking it out.
Smaller touring bag would be awesome!!! I was thinking of painting my lids this year on my Sport Glide but if there’s another bag option on the horizon I’ll wait to see what those look like. Thanks
Spot on. Just what Harley should have done in the first place.
exactly! Thank you for chekcing it out Paul..much appreciated.
I'm not huge on Harley's in general, but when they debuted the ST it really got my attention. Well, until I saw the tiny right side bag, lol. That's just lazy engineering on their part. This looks so much better.
I do agree, I think it was an after thought and well...t was a really bad one lol
Looks great! IMO chopped bags are a huge waste, less space AND showing off annoying exhausts is lame. I like stretched bags with more storage that cover up ugly exhausts. The exhaust has to evacuate spent gases and make enough noise for sleeping cage drivers to hear me coming but I don’t want to see it!
Thank you for checking it out! Much appreciated!
Honestly, these are the type of bags that should have been on there. These or the chopped style. The current bags look pretty cool, but are nearly useless for any type of travel over a day or 2.
Yeah i think the bags were an after though from HD...specially since one bag is bigger than the other...weird...and not water tight. These are a way better option in my opinion
They should offer a stretched fender, it would look better, or just do a tour pack, top case, would be nice, less BS
We do offer a tour pack for these bikes with the mounting hardware and bracket.
Make a fender longer 😎 for the bike!
im digging the short fender.,.makes it look more sporty!
@@sikbaggers Imagine with a Breakout fender.
Yea make a huge bagger on a shortened softail
I like the larger bags, but not with a longer rear fender. It doesn't look right as is.
Hey, Jim sorry this comment slipped by me and just saw it ...but yes...aesthetically I think that more could be done...lots of guys doing this mod just for more room while traveling so not focused so much on the looks, but I do agree with you.
Do like the standard bags on it. I definitely think doing that if had Low Rider S or ST.
i'm looking at getting the road glide or the lowrider . I already have a 22 nightster, and i'm looking for saddles thar are bigger thank Harleys. don't ridicule me about the nightster. i'm tired of that shit.
first I would never do that about your Nightster...we have a Sportster S in our arsenal so there's that lol There are huge differences between the road glide and the low rider so please make sure you test ride both before deciding...I ride a road glide primarily and I feel very awkward on this Low rider ST. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@sikbaggers of the road glide is due to it's heavier weight than the lowrider st? And in the other, one has a radio and there other.
I like both. But the decision will come as soon as I test ride them.
The ST is about 100 lbs lighter…. Really noticeable!! The ST comes with mid controls that can be changed out for forwards. Taller guys like the forwards. There is a radio for the ST made to fit perfectly by rockford Fosgate. The biggest ST downfall for me is the lack of infotainment screen.
Bags look good now they need to come up with a new rear fender that comes all the way down even with the bottom of the bag.
this is something we are kicking around the table now...thanks for checking it tout Kerry..much appreciated!
Or just dump both sets of bags and get some bungee cords 👍
i guess
Sounds like your buddy should have spent a few more bucks and bought a real touring class Harley to start with!.
touring class harley isnt what he wanted, clearly. But a few extra cubic feet when he does travel comes in handy and this did the job. We will be adding a quick detach tour pack to this as well...which he can take off later when he is not traveling and go back to his softail....which you cant really do with a toruing class harley, remove the bags and tour pack and now its a softail? nope.
Rear fender needs to be changed. Looks out of place with the large bags!
something we are kicking around the thought table now..thanks for checking it out!
Let me get this straight... you pay premium price for what looks like nice bags... but you have to put them together too? Saw bags online completely together for a 1/3 of the price...
Send me a link to color matched bags all put together
@sikbaggers I didn't say anything about color matched... just find it strange that you have to put them together @ that price point... wife got me 5" stretched bags for Christmas... told her she was nuts for paying those prices... said she paid $300 and came completely put together... seems just as good as the Harley bags I took off.
@@grfulgarcia yeah so they come in black only , no primer, and thin clear coat. Great if you have a black bike and dont mind subpar finishes. You can find them all day on amazon and ebay. A lot of the times they do come from us put together...depends on if "your color" is in stock ready to ship or not. If they do, great...if not, now you know how to put them together.
Nothing better than falling in love with your bike again
That's a Hard no
its not for everyone...thank you for checking it out though! Much appreciated.
Don't like it, bags don't look right on it, too big. Why not just buy a Street Glide then? Jmo...
I can understand that the bags look bigger on the bike and that was really the point..more room for storage and gets rid of the clam shell style bags...also the Softail and the street glide are completely different bikes, ride and handle completely different. Apples and oranges
This looks so me horrible, just buy a road glide if your gonna do this!
The softail Low Rider and the Road Glide are 2 completely different bikes. Apples and Oranges. . The point isn't to make it look like a bagger, it is to provide more room for traveling than the goofy lop sided clam shell bags that come on the bike.
Nah thanks. Too large and don’t fit the bikes attitude aesthetically. hope y’all make some chopped bags though.
They are in the works!
Make them taller and thinner.
I can appreciate AB providing this option but the bike looks ridiculous from the rear and sides. Not a fan of the bags Harley provides with this bike but these look worse. The fender being so much higher than the bags is not appealing.
Put HD synthetic leather bags on my 09 Softail Cushion
Look ok mostly for light shopping in town or long rides
Take them off keep bike clean looking majority of time
I would put them up somewhat higher like the original. But then you have to modify the brackets.. Little to big for the looks. Maybe when the chopped come out… interesting though
Looks dumb as hell with the back fender js
Hey! Cool to hear your take on it! Bikes are all about personal style, right? Some dig the clean low rider vibe, while others are all about that extra storage with touring bags. Different strokes for different folks, man. Ride on and enjoy the road! 🤘🏍️
