- When choosing the right colour in my paintings I use a simple process of asking questions to establish what type of colour will look best. Once I have established the colour type the options are narrowed and I know exactly what colour to mix in order to create harmony or contrast. This process takes away the guesswork when mixing colour.

Judy, thanks very much for this very helpful color mixing tipps.I love the harmony of the colors beside each other!!!😍
Super intéressant ! Merci pour ces précieux conseils. Je suis ravie de vous avoir découvert sur CZcams.
Oh my goodness! What generosity you have. Thank you for the class. I loved it. I am thinking about how wonderful it was and still review my work.
This was sooooo informative Julie!! TY!!
Thank you Judy! This is very helpful. (As are all your videos)
Glad you like them!
Thank you very much Judy, I had been looking for information on this, that was so helpful..... you're also a formidable teacher not to mention a fantastic artist.
Thanks so much 🙂
Thanks Judy great advice and help, it’s always been a mystery to me how and when you marry colours together!
What a great painting 🥰
Really enjoyed this video Judy! I’ve become addicted to your lovely way of teaching and your lessons tend to reinforce the things I already do intuitively and make me notice and understand the reasons that I do those things.
Ps- I’m still working on the three paintings that I started in your free workshop! Im enjoying using them to try new things. This color lesson may help me to move forward a bit more with them. I’ll share in upbeat artists at some point!! xo
Great tips Judy
Thanks for the reminder

Great video! TY
hi judy- this is all great but how do you deal with needing a lot of the color ?this is what i run into...i mix a color that i love (without knowing it ) and then struggle to make more of the same especially on a large canvas.thank you !!
Judy, thank you for this helpful information! What is the cloth that your paint is on in your palette? Does it help keep your paint wet while your are painting?
I don’t understand what “de-saturated” means…it does NOT refer to transparency, correct?
Desaturated means less bright or less pure colour in it. If you mix a few other colours into red it will lose it’s bright redness and become dull, muted, neutral - all other ways of saying desaturated :)
