Wow I never realized this video would ever reach such a large audience. Makes me very happy, almost 30 years after Maarten and I made it. It was my first film. Y despues de todos anos, mi dedicacion y amor para esta musica y para esos musicos sigue creciendo. robert boonzajer

@@citrusblast4372 more like polka, mexican music uses the bajo sexto and an electric bass in norteño music

What came from not Germany, but Bohemia(modern day Czech Republic), was polka, which is what this sounds very much like. Polka was never played anywhere until Bohemia in the late 1800s, and it swept across Europe and then to the rest of the world very fast, each country has its own version of it, but it was never heard of until the Bohemians invented it....

I'm from & live in San Antonio, I'm a mix of Mexican, Scottish & French. I thank you for posting this, I always found it a battle within myself on who I was, I'm a Texan first & for most & an American 2nd but instead of fighting between the bagpipes & accordion I choose the guitar but my heart is pure San Antonio.

I have old books or copies of them with the Lancers Quadrilles in them, it's a tune or set of tunes found in a variety of folk cultures. Pretty neat that John Stark had a copy. He's correct in saying that it takes about 20 minutes to play the whole thing!

The Austrian needs to understand one thing, if he is still alive, that throughout history every culture influences another culture and so on and so. Just like how spice was brought to the old world via Asia and Tomatoes brought to the old world via the New World and so on. So by using the accordian the Mexicans took the instrument and made it their own. What's wrong with that? know one says that about the Cajun music or Zydeco. Course they do not play like that in Austria, this is not Austria.
