I doubt they will. It would be ratings sucide, unfortunately most people who were Top Gear fanatics and watched for Clarkeson and co (the ones who make themselves pretty obvious in comments sections) know and care nothing about motorsports, the scripted challenges and basic drag races get too many eyeballs on the TV for them.
I know you might not see this comment, being busy with your new gig, but I just wanted to say that this is one of my favorite films of yours. You and the crew did such a great job on this one. Every couple of months, I'm drawn back to watch it yet again, and I still enjoy it like new every time. Thank you. We miss you here on CZcams, Mr. Harris!
Speed limits in racing are a travesty. Speed limits on Nürburgring are a sacrilege. Absolutely fantastic video though, as always. Thank you Chris, Neil and the team!
***** Any death in motorsport is a tragedy, regardless if its a driver or spectator. I'm all for safety and better barriers but the spectator that was killed by the GTR during the VLN race were in an area not protected by the barriers. Ignorance is bliss till it bites you in the ass...
TeamBoehnisch Yes there were and they are there for a reason. The spectator that got killed was in an area he shouldn't have been in. If i remember correctly they had been told to move and get back behind the barriers but refused. If thats the case I maintain my previous statement.
David Gonzalez Absolutely. I am the same opinion that - because that part is a High-Speed part (!) - it is absolutely the wrong place to watch. And moreover the one who was killed (R.I.P. our motorsports-friend), sat directly in the line where the cars would go if they don't get the corner - so he wanted to have the best view on a crash. He had.
what an experience this must be sitting in a garage with your crew hearing the engines roaring past knowing that in a couple of ours the car is gonna be handed to you and you have to get out there
Bob Tsui Top Gear is sadly gone. But you know i would watch it if Chris Harris replaced Jeremy Clarkson even though i know james and richard wont do it with clarkson.
351broncoii The core of Top Gear's success, and the reason that it will be successful among its core demo post-reboot, is that it was a fun show about cars. They now have an opportunity to go back to being a show about cars as opposed to being a show about May, Clarkson, and Hammond with some cars tossed in for flavor. I probably won't follow them to their new show precisely for the reason you're stating. Their new show will probably pick up where Top Gear left off, which is to say in a bad place, because that's what their following wants to see. Their characters became bigger than the cars they were driving and the show became predictable. CHOC is where Top Gear was and should have stayed.
BTrain5489 To me, at least they made Top Gear. I've watched Fifth Gear as well as other car shows and well they're good. There much of the same, a lot of facts and figures, same boring road testing but no personality. For me, Top Gear is not just the best car show ever but my favourite show period. Because it combines two of my favourite things cars and British comedy. Specifically their brand of comedy and the chemistry between them. I've heard a lot of non car people say they watch it. Not because they're into cars but because. But because despite the subject matter they found the show funny. To me, that's a mark of true greatness when you can get non car people to watch a car show
Darren Wilson It's really fucking creepy that you look through peoples past comments. Just to comeback with lame ass comebacks. PS: Don't assume everybody who doesn't agree with you is automatically American. There's a whole wide world out there. For instance, I'm Canadian
Kind of don't miss Top Gear at all when Chris is making such quality content. Thank you for giving me my motoring show fix Chris, you've filled the void TG left behind for me.
Mumbo Jumbo Yeah really guy , can,t you delete your reaction, this is not your average youtube clip, people who are subscribed here wait for these high quality episodes with high anticipation, putting up spoilers is not done.
Chris Harris on Cars If this is judged by others as luridly sycophantic in the end, I could not possibly care less. When you posted your Bloodhound SSC video a while ago, I was awestruck. The joy of being so utterly immersed in the experience and yet never pandered to. Never - as we would say in the US - "dumbed down." Thank you for holding true to that core value. Of the thousands of racing films -- on the smallest and largest screens alike -- this one retains that same brilliance, and the same inherent honesty as Bloodhound. And throughout, the luscious, totally mesmerizing cinematography... is truly without peer.

What a great genre (race storytelling from the perspective of one competitor). One of the things that made me completely fall in love with endurance racing was the TopGear's episode about their participation in the Silverstone 24h. There should be more of this.
This is my first comment on CZcams and it is simply because the editing, narrative, and story of this clip was simply perfect. I wish this was a full length documentary as I would love to watch more.
Montenegro Montenegrin America still make Aston V12 i know but not for their cars,Germany does,Italy and Britain and i know japan did but now can you tell if they're still making it and which car?
Olivier C Hi - i think the right numbers are the range in which you can press the speedlimiter and it limits the speed to the left... so if you are going 110Kph and press the limiter it slows you down to 60... and so on
What a brilliant video! Shame you guys didn't manage to bring it home. I love these race videos nearly as much if not more than the car reviews :P The shot of that Porsche screaming down the hill was immense. Well done Neil I can only imagine it's a very hard place to film to try and capture varying shots with it being such a big place!
What a great vid. Been a long time since I've seen something reasonably succinct that captures such a gamut of a race day, including the passion of a particular car. Cinematography also stellar as usual...
Chris Harris on Cars So nice to have you back as "Chris Harris on Cars" and not part of the US-centric Drive. Don't know how you feel about it but I, for one, am glad to see you doing your own thing again. Love your work.
signalchef Speed limits won't stop that though. Anyway, the Nordschleife and many other tracks have seen more than a few fatalities, but they've survived. Motor Racing is Dangerous, as it says on the back of the ticket.
Xerdoz Though certainly not a popular decision with many, I can't blame the organizers for doing so. Earlier this year at the same circuit a Nissan flipped at the crest of Flugplatz, then cartwheeled and completely cleared the barrier and fence, and killed a spectator before finally coming to rest in the spectator area. The organizers had to be seen as doing something quickly about this latest incident or the race would have been called off.

Michael Renardson Apart from me not agreeing, when spectators die something has to be done. Sad enough for drivers, but at least they knew what they were getting into.
Michael Renardson Yes, at least until something better is figured out, like major rebuilds/enhancements of the safety-installations. That's not going to be easy, though, since the Ring has been on the verge of bankruptcy for several years now and it's going to be difficult to find the funding.
seriously i love such videos, even more than regular car test vids if that's possible. And that's mainly the passion that you show is just inspiring.. i truly wish i'll get the chance to drive at such an event someday.. baahh, gotta watch this again
Great video & exceptionally well shot again Neil. Disappointing result the car looked superb, but this mini documentary is a triumph. Take that as a win.
Chris, your videos provides a detailed and personable experience into a segment of the racing world I will never experience. Thank you for your uploads.
Who the hell is the safety nutsy imposing speed limits on the Nurburgring for a race? Is there new management? They also imposed speed limits for track days. So now the manufactures can't test their cars to the limits. I guess they'll have to look for another track.
WiseGuy02 manufacturers can till test without limits, as the legalities are different for them. As Chris told, after the Nismo GTR becoming airborne at Flugplatz (and killing one spectator) and a number of "strange" GT3 crashes during last years 24h and numerous VLN races on the Döttinger Höhe, the German racing governing body (DMSB) was urged to do something, anything, until the real reason is sure for those cars flipping. It was imposing these speed limits or no race at all. There will be changes for next year, currently a Ring-special GT3 aero pack is the most likely. Manufacturers of course don't want this as it raises costs, but its a better solution than changing, sanitizing the track. Even just enlarging the gravel trap at Flugplatz is not easy due to German nature conservation laws.
AccAkut1987 Actually Capricorn Group has officially banned manufacturers from running or publishing lap times from the Nurburgring Nordschliefe. This was discovered when Koeingsegg attempted to run their One:1 hypercar around the ‘Ring and got rebuffed.
Matt Jenkins Why don't you go tell that to the family of the spectator (not driver) who was killed there a few weeks earlier. C'mon, Man. Show some respect, not everything has to be what you want. Just because you have a thought, and there's a comment section, doesn't mean you should post it.
Dude STFU even Chris said it was a shame they had speed limits. If its so freaking dangerous then dont race there. go fight your crusade somewhere else Dbag
Matt Jenkins HAHAHAHAHAHA, Thanks. You just made my day with that one. Big difference between saying "it's a shame" and "That's BS!". One is being respectful, one is being a "DBag".
your welcome. And im sorry i dont have spectator death alert on my iPhone so i know when everything happens on every track across the world. Def was making light of any death. Not my style
What a stunner of an edit! Chris and Neil thank you, it was a shane about the DNF but you got to drive it on the road which is just so cool. Better luck next time
What a phenomenal experience! I'm always amazed when I run into car enthusiasts who don't enjoy racing. How can you not love this? Great stuff Chris Harris on Cars!
Once again you guys don't disappoint. The commentary, the video work, the editing are all top notch! I only wish there was an hour of watchable content. Thank you guys!
What an amazing video! Thank you Chris, Neil and the team to give us crazy fans a fantastic peek behind the scenes of the madness and adrenaline rush that is the N24! Shame about the speed limits I have a feeling it is only a temporary situation.
Many thanks Chris for this stunning video, as many other videos you've made already. Thanks for your Crew too. hope to meet you up a day in the future. cheers
This is what the new Top Gear needs more of! Just get Mr. Harris to document his racing and you have a winner!
It is, he has....and stay tuned for more
just need to get rid of the two tools headlining it, THEN WE HAVE A WINNER

gnarkillkicksass the ratings have already taken a nose dive.
He does a fantastic job. Brilliant really. Great camera work too!
"Strapped on his biggest pair of balls and removed his brain"
I think he's a bit sensitive about that area. I heard testicles, nads and bollocks!
Standard everyday procedure for many American men. Great stupidity ensues... Not myself of course, but so many guys I know.
Brilliant brilliant editing ! My god this has to be the best quality piece of auto journalist video.
kerk tp really great footages, maybe background music could be cheerful a little bit
kerk tp Came here to say the same thing. Neil does the greatest job.
kerk tp indeed. above tv-level quality for sure. the filmography and soundtrack are plainly perfect.
kerk tp Careful what you say, they might convert the channel to sub only like Drive.
ahmet emre öz I think the music is a big part of what makes this so good.
I really like seeing Chris Harris' Chris Harris on Cars logo on cars.

Chris Harris on Cars and Top Gear, thats all I need for motoring shows
Bob Tsui Top Gear is sadly gone. But you know i would watch it if Chris Harris replaced Jeremy Clarkson even though i know james and richard wont do it with clarkson.

I keep coming back to this vid periodically, and man oh man... the footage and everything else is just phenomenal
I'm the exact same. The sound of that V12 when he's driving it to the track, god what a sound! :D
Same. This is to say the least the 10th time i rewatch.
Speed limits in Germany: they don't have them for the Autobahn so they put them in a racing circuit.
You obviously know nothing about the Autobahn or racing.

1:48 the moment you realize you're driving a race car on the public highway and how badass it is 😂👍🏼👏🏽

Absolutely mega. Neil truly outdid himself with the video work here. Great team effort!
I'm not usually a massive fan of this style of video but with the cinematography and the way you presented it Chris, I was hooked to the very end!
Neil brings it home only the way a true pro can, and kudos to the whole filming team for catching all the fun.
Chris Harris, a V12 Aston and a race of The Ring.
I'm cool with this.
Racing is beautiful. Racing feels like home. I just wished, in another life, i'd be born inside it. Or get inside it. God bless you guys.

Fantastic! Thank you very much!
I thought I was seeing things when I saw the Clio and Mini flying around the corner next to the Porsche
Great video, I keep watching these in the hope that I'll find one where the car finishes the race!! Love your commentary and your perspective on the race, awesome work!
What a terrific insight into this world. Thanks Chris Harris. Another great edition to your series.
the script, the filmography, the soundtrack, the deep emotion and entertainment that your videos provide take this car video thing to a whole new level
CHOC really deserves a spot on television and a big budget. there's no movies or tv shows that come even near this quality
Would've liked to see more onboard racing than just cars driving passed the camera
Samzilla Not sure if a joke or....
Samzilla I was going to say the same - maybe there's some on board footage still to come though! Would like to see the Andy's crash too (hopefully he walked away ok)
Ollie Mariotti if I'm joking?
Samzilla you could see from the in car footage Neil put in the clip that the exposure was difficult meaning he could only film the interior of the car or what was happening out of the windscreen. I have no doubt that Neil was planning to get some decent in car footage as the morning light rose
Samzilla Thats because this is REAL racing. The primary here for chris was to win the race, not film for a show. Its hard to get usable in-cabin footage. Its loud, hard to focus, and hard to stabilize without a lot of heavy equipment. Sorry he wasnt thinking of us when he rolled the car onto the ring... He did quite well regardless.
Another amazing video by Chris and Neil. If you turned that into a 2 hour long documentary I would have watched every minute. Great job guys, I'm happy to see the increase in subscribers and views reflecting the quality of work you are turning out. Now to patiently await the next one.
This is a beautifully edited and shot piece of work, all Chris' videos are the highest quality I have seen and I watch many many youtube car videos.
Chris Harris is the new top gear. And its not even close.
TheDustyaman Imagine if the new Top Gear was Harris, Sutcliffe and Needell...
9:26 is possibly the best thing ive ever seen
Oh man! I was so happy hearing you were in the 20's and then.. that disappointment. Superb video, Mr. Harris. I love your style, knowledge, and filming. Enjoyed.
My morning coffee is complete. I've been waiting for this since the preview. Time to up the Patreon donation - you and Neil really are delivering!
That SLS Gt3 noise though.......
I would like to see : Chris Harris on Ferrari F40 Le Mans :)
What a great genre (race storytelling from the perspective of one competitor). One of the things that made me completely fall in love with endurance racing was the TopGear's episode about their participation in the Silverstone 24h. There should be more of this.
What a Fantastic Story and beautifully captured . Great Job Chris and Neil here's hoping you get another shot at it next year .
Love your work .
Under 301 club on a chris harris one: thats nuts
That beautiful BMW Z4 at 10:52 is designed by @JP Performance
Maybe some of you guys know him ;)
Another fine piece of work from Chris and the team, thank you !!!!

Nothing sounds like european v12
Crna gora! Lol
Montenegro Montenegrin like there is other continent who is producing V12s. and it's more like nothing sounds like 2 Ford V6 engines welded together!
David MuscleGuy Toyota makes a V12, its called the GZ engine.
Montenegro Montenegrin America still make Aston V12 i know but not for their cars,Germany does,Italy and Britain and i know japan did but now can you tell if they're still making it and which car?
David MuscleGuy
Toyota Century limousine uses 1GZ-FE V12 engine, still in production today.
Can someone please explain the text on the wheel at 5:05 ?
60KPH = 5-120KPH
...
Olivier C Hi - i think the right numbers are the range in which you can press the speedlimiter and it limits the speed to the left... so if you are going 110Kph and press the limiter it slows you down to 60... and so on

The teams should've just boycotted the race because of that stupid speed limit.

What's with the bottles of booze hanging from the trees?
Tradition? Or some sort of anti-spillage method?
SpaceManDawn You will see anything around the Nordschleife from self-made wooden grandstands to beer barrel graveyards behind the trees.
SpaceManDawn It's so the bears can't get it....
SpaceManDawn
No it's an environmental reason... they do it because it creates natural habitat for humming birds in the area. They love nesting in those bottles and it protects them from predator birds. Humming bird numbers are increasing all over the country thanks to these efforts

***** Are the bottles full or empty⁉️
Chris and Neil, your videos are getting better and better. I loved this latest video, especially the video work and the flow of the story.
This is not only the best racing event video, but the best video art i've seen in a while. Amazing job!
What do the numbers on the steering wheel mean? 60KPH = 5-120KPH etc
Yea, im wondering that too
he said earlier there were speed limits on some parts of the track,as the cars dont have a speedo they go by revs.
I thought about that as well, but can't make anything from these numbers ...
seriously? a speed limit on the nurburgring I think that the show must go on whatever the circumstances- the ring is the ring, some day someone is going to come a cropper
Michael Renardson On that note, bring the damn Colosseum back.
grmasdfII well that was exactly what i was saying
Michael Renardson Apart from me not agreeing, when spectators die something has to be done. Sad enough for drivers, but at least they knew what they were getting into.

AccAkut1987 It will probably need to be more than just aero. Suspension, anti-roll bars, or even resurfacing some areas of the track.
AccAkut1987 best solution would be to better protect the spectators ... not allow them so close. speed limits just seems asinine.
They speed limited the long straight ?? Thats BS man.
Luke Sluder The fatality was at Flugplatz. The problem is the GT3 cars and putting spectators in dangerous spots, not the track itself.
