Just a few comments… Teacher school year is great. 2 1/2 months off a year with pay. My sister who is also a 4th grade teacher told me that although she won’t get SS when she retires, she’ll instead get a pension equal to her working pay. My wife was recently unemployed here in CA. for 6 months. Instead of temporary Cobra health insurance she applied for California Care. The first month's bill for her and our 2 sons was $97 (no unemployment payment received yet). When she received the benefits, the bill was $297 a month. She had a hysterectomy outpatient surgery during this time and the invoice paid by insurance was 118K. Her portion was 2300. Travels yearly to the Phils with entire family and stays for months. Inlaws have 10 year multi entry visa USA. Awesome. Check out the Zillow home prices in Hailey, ID and Santa Barbara where his dad has a home…
Its probably a lot harder for her to westernize when she's 200 miles above the Arctic Circle. LOL Alaska is supposed to be a really tough dating scene for guys so glad it worked out.
Yes, I agree, although we have traveled extensively as well. There are now more women here than several decades ago, so I would think the dating scene would be better now.
There are many Filipinos in Barrow, which made the transition easier for my wife, and she has made many good friends. The canneries are in places like Kodiak Island and other areas down south. Yes, there are lots of Filipinas in Alaska!
Teacher salaries on the North Slope are high, plus other benefits like housing and good insurance. My wife also works. I would recommend teaching up here if you can handle the climate and the remoteness. It's not for everybody.
Very interesting man and story today. I enjoyed it especially, learnt a lot about Alaska and living there. Thanks for sharing Mark

Your opinion means a lot to me.

Santa Barbara home prices are crazy! One of the reasons I moved to Alaska...
Nice job gentlemen!
Thank you 😊
Great interview! Thanks 🙏 What was the name of the insurance that you bought for your in-laws visit to the USA ?
Shout out to brother Sloper Jeff! I spent best part of 16 years in Deadhorse and a little time in Barrow. Big thanks for chatting with us!
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed the info.

Interesting interview I could not live in such a cold climate but this guy likes it. Thai taxi drivers too ?
Many/most of the Thai taxi drivers' families were originally from Laos...
Good one, Mark. This content was interesting. Put an educator on the show, it's a win!!
I’ve seen a lot of immigrants working in the canning factories. Many women from the PI.

Well done, gentlemen! :)
How does he afford a Hummer on a teachers salary? Lol. 😮😮

Hummers are 1990s vehicles. There cheap.
