I love that the barrel is aligned with the bottom of the cylinder, which is a real trick used on high caliber revolvers to improve recoil handling, since the gun gets pushed more directly over the center mass and into your hand, rather than twisting up. Even for something as simple as this, as some people called it, "toy" with barely any punch to it, bro went with engineering thoughtful design.
I think thats actually kinda a design fault. This is a gun without a lot of recoil so using a bottom barrel doesn't make sense , and keep in mind bottom barrel revolvers aren't objectively better. First and most importantly, the inner mechanics need to be much more complicated when using a bottom firing revolver . Lots more moving parts. More points of potential failure. For something like this, printed out of 3d printed plastic which is more prone to jamming or getting caught, that's a serious concern. Also, while this prolly doesnt matter here, height over bore - the sights on a bottom barrel revolver will always have a more strict zeroing distance.
Kinda feel like he shouldn’t considering those rounds are as long as my forearm, lugging around a speed loading cylinder would probably slow down the reload.
Looking at the video frame-by-frame, the riffling seems to be working. The bullets are flying straight and not tumbling until they hit. I'm impressed. I'm impressed. This might not take down a target, but it does shoot. Not bad for a little plastic and electricized water.
you could make sabot rounds for this and it would probably be a lot more dangerous. You could have a 10mm steel ball bearing be the projectile and a plastic shell around it that will fly away.
@@bsod4144 Hydrogen has a very easy time escaping from almost any container. It can probably find its way straight through that plastic, nevermind the big gaps. If these casings are filled with hydrogen and then left for a few minutes in the cylinder, they'll probably lose a decent percentage of the charge. If you left them overnight, they might not even work the next day.
I love the design of this, feels like a sci-fi interpretation of a Smith & Wesson designed to go through anything its pointed at. Edit: Got the name of the company wrong.
This thing isn't even a toy or anything anymore, This is just straight up a weapon. Imagine having a nerf war and one of the kids pulls up with this thing.
With a large "heavy" projectile a higher twist rate on the barrel may be more preferable. The higher rotation speed may help stabilize the projectile. In addition there may be some benefit to adding some indented rings on the rear of the projectile as well. Very cool toy youve made. 😊
I was thinking of making a simple airsoft grenade launcher and you have inspired me with some amazing ideas of how to do it so thank you. You earned a sub.
It's also not a great idea. Have done it accidentally with a paintball marker. Not only does it hurt so bad, the bones in your hand are quite delicate. Ever wearing gloves it's really unpleasant and possibly damaging.
your videos encouraged me to also use threading on my 3D prints, it made my latest project possible. thanks edit: the project is a stun gun that interestingly uses the same looking high voltage generator. I must say that trigger mechanism is pretty smart, most people just use buttons.
1 suggestion: I know nothing about revolvers, but wouldn't it be slightly better to have the cylinder revolve *after* the shot? That way there's less delay between trigger pull and firing.
Yes but it’s much more complicated to do. Thats why real double action revolvers spin the cylinder before firing. Single action revolvers are similar. Both spin the cylinder when the hammer is drawn back. This design doesn’t have a hammer and is electronically fired. I’ve spent dozens of hours working on this problem and making it function the other way is extremely difficult.
