Maybe like, cloudy with a chance of meatballs and other picture books but anything beyond that it's either equal or book is more. A good example of equal is the Netflix? A series of unfortunate events. I think almost everything is included

Percy Jackson got me into reading, I always said that books are boring but when I started reading PJ I couldn't stop.

yooo same happened to me! I was uninterested in PJO until i accidentally read one of their demigod diaries or whatever that introduced me to some of the characters. I was so surprised i enjoyed it

I am SUPER protective of books in general, even if they aren't necessarily my property, but I'm not in the least bit bothered by this because
1. the movies suck SO bad
2. your art is awesome, you're doing a great job and
3. you aren't actually harming the book, you put paper to protect the pages and you're not using mediums that require a lot of water, so the chance of it seeping through and harming the pages is super small

I agree! And it’s her book. I can be protective of my own book, no bending covers or folding corner of pages etc., but if someone else does that to their own book. Welp, they can do what they want with their book. I might be uncomfortable watching them do it, but hey, they bought it with their own money and as long it’s not excessive.
I think y’all would die if you saw the things I do to my books 😂

As a PJ fan, the movie was a train wreck.
I’ve only seen the movie clips, but they really ruined most of the characters and all the funny moments. The life was literally drained from the story that we all love so much.
Hopefully the Disney plus series does it justice especially since Uncle Rick and his wife are part of the production this time
I had to watch it for a school project and it was the one of the worst movie-to-book adaptations I’ve ever seen

You know what really sucks. When you read the book and then watch the movie but the movie changes all the details and now you can’t remember the book properly

If you like PJ there are a BUNCH other series that Rick Riordan like Hero’s of Olympus, Kane Chronicles, Magnus Chase, and Trials of Apollo.
I hope you continue to read the Heroes of Olympus series. I thought they were even better than the original series. Percy and some of his friends are in it too and lots of new amazing characters. And then there’s The Trials of Apollo (3rd series) which is also pretty good and it’s super funny. It’s not really about Percy or any of the original gang but all the previous characters show up or are mentioned at some point.
I actually have just started them! I was sad to finish PJ and then I was like wait, what are all these books?? So I’m looking forward to continuing reading them :)

I absolutely ADORE this series. the Perry Johnson movies were awful, but the musical is amazing!! if you're waiting on the Disney+ series, definitely check out the musical, it's amazing!!

Ps: the musical is MAD. Totally recommend it. The vocals are so good and they are pretty accurate about the books (even tho they take some liberties, which is fine)
@@FloreMar-yp3iz THE MUSICAL IS AMAZHANG. and they are really close to the books, 1000000 times better than the movies. And of course, yeah, they had to take some liberties but like, there's only so much you can do with limited time, money, actor options, etc.. but they really dont make a difference, it's still AWESOME.
This video made me so nostalgic. I read Percy Jackson for the first time in 3rd grade and my copy of the Lightning Thief is covered in my old doodles because the book inspired me so much. My teachers used to yell at me because during quiet reading time I kept reading the series over and over again! There will always be such a soft spot in my heart for PJO and was such a big part of my childhood!

I have an eragon movie book and it is the worst book cover I own... That movie is awful, and in comparison even worse than the lightning thief

Ok so I've been making myself my own camp Half-Blood necklace, one bead a year just like the books, but I've done it for every year I've been in the fandom, with the beads reflecting my real life. I now have seven beads for the seven years I've been in the fandom. So long story short, I've been here for awhile. I think your version of the cover really just brings the energy of the whole series into one piece, I think it's great! Watching the movie poster of a cover being painted over was very satisfying.

I really like your paint over bookcover series. Books are very subjective and we interpret them in our imagination. I think that doing the book cover shows how you filtered and processed the books as an artist. I hope you keep doing this.
I always get a kick out of my shout out 💜 love this! I haven't read the Percy Jackson books but maybe I should try. I have realised that with my work schedule and stuff I need to just start buying audio books so I can enjoy them on my hour drive to work and back or while I'm cleaning and getting animal chores done. I still only got maybe a third through last month's book club book due to lack of time! Love the cover repaints they are always so interesting and I love hearing your inspo for the structure of the illustrations!
You should totally read them they are so good I wasn't really a fan but now I love it even if you aren't in Greek it is so good I totally recommend it 👍👍👍

Listen, even the author Rick would LOVE this new cover. It's fun and beautiful and I love this series. Both Percy Jackson and this whole painting series. I was worried I'd hate it because I love books so much but you treat them with such care and you're showing them so much love. Not to mention you only do it to movie covers which were never the author's original visions. I love these!!

Yeah. I watched movie first and I really enjoyed it. Then I found out about a books, read it and started to hate movie XD But I'll be honest, the movie is not that bad as some other movie adaptations (Avatar:Last Airbender). You can watch it and even have fun, especcially if you don't know book.

These are my favorite of your videos. This is a beautiful painting, and makes me interested in the book. It kind of reminds me of the style of the first HP book cover (American), where you have your characters, and then you can keep looking to find more and more around them 🙂😍
The only book series I read before they decide to create movies about it, loved it so much, both the books and the movies
buffy-esque is a great word to describe that! and i agree! love how you depict the playfulness of these books, i also read them as an adult and had an absolute blast. im that kind of person who was already quite into greek mythology so i got a big kick out of many things, but its a testament to the quality of these books that theyre fun to learn mythology from as well! (i mean i didnt know everything beforehand either, but i feel like the difference in reading experience still makes sense)
I think it's so cool that you have the dedication to do this. I also think that, if you read the Heroes of Olympus, you'll enjoy it a lot more, just from my personal experience. Rick Riordan's thing is mythology, so if you're interested in learning about that kind of stuff, I think he's a good author to go to. The Heroes of Olympus have more characters that are also more diverse, and it's more of a sense read, but I found the audio books on CZcams to be okay too.
Your videos inspired me to repaint my copy of Frankenstein because it just had a naked guy on it. now there's a red sky and a spooky castle which I'm really proud of

I’m an older subscriber and I read all the Percy Jackson books with my foster son and really enjoyed them! They are exciting but with a lighter, humorous touch. What a great idea to do your own cover! I don’t like movie editions either and would much rather have something meaningful and personal on my shelf xx
