  • Jane Pritchard, Curator of Dance at the V&A, introduces Frederick Ashton's Awakening pas de deux from Act II of the Royal Ballet's 1968 production of The Sleeping Beauty, with film of Antoinette Sibley and Anthony Dowell in the pas de deux followed by film of Anthony Dowell dancing the Prince's Variation from Act II.
    Before that, Christopher Nourse, Executive Director of the Frederick Ashton Foundation, introduces the masterclass, and talks about the Foundation's series of Ashton Rediscovered masterclasses.

    Oh the elegance and magical quality of Dowell and Sibley together has not been achieved by any of the semi-gymnasts dancers that are in vogue now.

    Beautifully danced … you can just see “ the dance “ and not the steps . Love Anthony Dowell . Such an elegant dancer and his wit is unique !

    Please shorten Jane’s long speech and increase the time you give fabulous Anthony Dowell to reminisce.
