I nominate the oh so eloquent Steven Rinella as the spokesman for all ethical hunters, fisherman, and trappers!!!!
President!!
I listen to him and I still want to know... what is ethical about killing someone who doesn't want to die? Honest question?
@@jnanashakti6036
Honest answer.
I don't think he kills people
@@jnanashakti6036 anthropomorphize much?
Your prayers have been answered brother!
Rinella-Putelis 2020!!!
"I'm not in it with that guy." Great statement, coming from one of the few great outdoorsmen in the public eye today.
was fortunate to attend this talk and the Aldo Leopold class that proceeded it. Steve seemed as genuine as he does on his show and podcast. I, a 6 foot 4, 250 pound guy came off as a starstruck teenage girl when I got a chance to meet him. so much for being a tough guy.
Good thing the guns make up for it. ;)
I could listen to Steve talk on hunting all day long. Would loved to have one conversation with him
About what?
lestudio76
hunting, the west, animal behavior, cooking wild game...
lestudio76
raising kids in a world that everyday is moving away from the lifestyle we so enjoy, literature
Pretty old comment, but he has a podcast and is on joe rogan’s podcast about 10 times
@@sachinraghavan4556 nice spelling 👍 go back to the giant bean stalk jack.
The thing about Steve is the fact he is a real outdoorsman. He hunts, traps and goes fishing! He covers it all. Unlike the other TV hunters who “hunt” or sport for the ego.
He talks the talk and walks the walk. He teaches what he lives. Everything he says comes from years of experience, whether it's his own or one of his buddies is irrelevant. Thats also the reason why he is so easy to listen to. It's all genuinely serious and heartfelt unlike others where they are just going for money/fame/w.e.
"Tell your wife she doesn't know what she's talkin' about"
Shane D'Addezio shots fired!
That was one of the most genuine laughs I've had at something recently. Came outta nowhere, and totally serious hahaha
The quote echoed around the world
Totally set that guy up for failure. Lol.
unedited version, please!!!
this dude is one of my role models man...
from his books and show, to his quotes and life lessons.
really want the full lecture
Such a well spoken and articulate person on the subject of hunting and conservation.
I'd love to see the whole version as well!
Man crush Monday lol. I love the fact that Steve is so introspective about hunting. Really brought me back to it listening to him. What a fantastic ambassador for hunting.
thanks for the great shows. I love the fact your not sponsored by 20 equipment manufacturers and hunt fair chase. game cleaning, cooking and eating remind me of dan Fitzgerald and how he made hunting shows back in the 80's.
Why is the talk all chopped up and edited? Why not post the whole thing as it was given.
Amen!
Well said Steve!
This is why I love Steves show he really does walk the walk and is not scared to talk about it to whom ever asks
In one of your future videos, how about a program with specifics on what your camera staff carry into the field. Some of your viewers may fail to realize that those photo people are walking the walk with you and in many cases carrying some seriously, heavy equipment. It would be interesting to know what type of gear your prof people recommend to serious outdoor photo hunters and how they manage to keep the equipment functional. Certainly, you could extend the video program to include you shooting and cooking some game but how about a little more equal time? As sacrilegious and off-the-wall as it may sound, there may be a bunch of your viewers who might enjoy working the backcountry with video equipment--as much as packing out meat, hides, and heads.
"Tell your wife she doesn't know what she is talking about." That was adorably funny!!!! I could listen to this man talk forever.
I really enjoy hearing this man’s perspective on wildlife conservation. as a fellow outdoorsman I admire his viewpoint but his eloquent explanation it’s so well thought out and eloquent that even though non-hunters may disagree it’s impossible to not respect his perspective. I just bought his book because people like this need our support.
Great job Steven !
So glad Steve touched on that topic. That line needs to be on a shirt! Steve, you are a legend and an inspiration. By the way DO MORE PODCASTS as well as Rogan's podcast
I graduated too soon. I would have been at this in a heart beat. There are a few great guys out there promoting hunting the way that it should be. Steven I could use some tips on hunting whitetail in the UP.
Dude you came to US - MADISON and I had no idea!!! Fuck I'm sad man. I would've totally drove from Green Bay just to hear you speak. You're a fucken living legend man. Your ideas on hunting changed my life forever. I watched all your Meateater episodes at least 5 times and I listened to all your podcasts.
I bet he gives a fucking great wedding speech hahaha that ending killed me.
Go Steve!
Really Steve just perfectly puts into words how I feel about hunting.
I love the fact that you just care about the animals! I hunt too it's been 30 years but I've heard the same things you said back then. I guess it took 30 plus years to hear it again Ty
Perfect way to end!
He is a great rep
It's so unfortunate that hunting is on the decline due to lack of access. We need hunting for the well being of these animal populations.
Outdoor Access Are you aware of UN Agenda 2030? The Hegelian Dialectic?
@@josephsmyth832 another form of socialism
Man you should come to Victoria Australia, we have all the deer here, sambar being the most popular in the highcountry, they used to have a bag limit of one a day that was lifted a few years ago and there's now only a season for hunting with hounds. We can go almost anywhere all year and also chase sambar, fallow, chital, reds, rusa, pigs, goats. The only tags you need is for hog deer it's like 50 bucks over the counter that's one hind n one buck in March only. Because there global population is supported down here.
Joseph Smyth for someone unaware how does that agenda relate to hunting?
Is hunting is about controlling population of animals so also start a human hunting and try to hunt a bear without cheat your a free snack kiddo
Steve can you please make a meateater video describing the difference between canned/ high fence “hunts” and fair chase hunts. You are uniquely positioned to describe this difference to the public for the future sake of the lifestyle
I think I remember him discussing that in the Joe Rogan podcast. Or maybe that was Ted nugent.
All hunting is the same immoral act.
Good to see you on the latest Ken Burns work.
Where can we watch the entire presentation and Q & A?
google?
Wish it was the full talk.
It's amazing how hes such a great outdoorsman, but he can speak to a crowd and keep it flowing; joke here, serious there, questions with long responses.(instead of glossing over it or "deflecting" and moving on)
Man this guy has a way of speaking.
Great stuff. Noticed some cuts, how long was the original ?
Mayor McCheese The talk was right over an hour. Was a great time and if you are in driving distance to one of Steve's speaking appearances I would highly recommend going.
thanks, i wold love to :)
That heckler got burned at the end lol
Yeah, the compassionate person standing up for animals is totally a heckler. Not the one who gambles with their lives.
Probably the best hunting apology I've heard, edited as it was. This dude is growing on me.
Apology?
Always felt he was educated in The UP. Walks the walk.
I liked his answer about trophy hunting.
The way he talked about sounded to me like his version of what he considered trophy hunting could be close enough to illegal hunting, possibly poaching, in all 50 states of the US.
All hunting is the same. Unless you're in the wild and starving to death there's zero excuse to kill an animal.
@@sachinraghavan4556hunting can teach me things that I can’t learn if I didn’t hunt. Not only about animals but about the earth and myself.
Steven is definitely a great guy
You know it’s odd that everyone says he speaks with this or that... I think the point is, as hunters we all should speak openly, honestly, & w/ an understanding that not all may agree, but that it’s okay, cause we will remain passionate about what we do as hunters. He just speaks to the public as a hunter, the same as we all do openly & freely with other hunters. Just my thoughts.
I’m from the UP. What college? I live near lssu
Where did you go to school in the UP? As a yooper I would love to know where you went where there was great hunting 😂
Where did you got to school, you mentioned it was in the UP but which of the UP schools?
Why, Finlandia College of course.
@ 8:36 you communicate as successfully as a hunter possibly can.
Respect. I'd hunt and drink bourbon with Steve any day. I've learned so much from watching and listening to him speak.
“Tell your wife she doesn’t know what she’s talkin’ about.” You’re trying to get this man killed, Steven! Lol
Guy is a god damn genius
Lookin a little like Lloyd Christmas there Steve
Steven I’d love to know your thoughts on pest control here in Australia we have a fair few invasive animals in which get killed to control the populations and most of the time the meat gets waisted. I am one of those people But also we have a lot of poisoning here and I honestly don’t know how to know if the meat is safe.
For meeeeee
Talk about a mic drop moment
I agree, defending animal cruelty is so bold!
Tom McGuane, eh? Great guest...
I hunt but I get the deer that I can get for food. If I get a big boy with nice horns or rack awsome. if not I still get meat for the freezer. Regardless that skull is going on the wall to remind me how hard I worked to track and get that animal. Because where I live you have to work hard climb mountains drag an anal miles to get it back to the vehicle. It's alot of back breaking work. So I respect my kill.
From our very beginnings we have foraged, hunted and fished for our food.
Yes genius, back when we literally couldn't live without it. In this modern age we can, there's no survival necessity for it.
@@sachinraghavan4556you have no room to talk. You have no clue what hunters do when they’re out there why they do it. I know you’re gonna probably see this and try to be a smart-a** and say “well they just go out and kill it’s not that complicated” There’s more to hunting than that. We know more of animals than you ever will in your life. Almost all herd animals in the US would be extinct without hunters. Not only that but it is an incredible spiritual journey.
Like this guy.
Love Steve! Wot a guy! I’m gonna start eating more of the heart liver n kidneys of the dear I shoot just so I’m more like him
Drop that mic homie. Hahaha.
Dope that dudes wife is watching and following. Idk if she hunts, but she has a perspective. That’s awesome. Lucky man.
if someone asked me would I die for a deer, I ask would the deer starve for the grass to live? I think a lot of people want meaning in life when meaning already was there.
You lack necessity to kill a deer when you can grow or buy crops to eat. You're not a wolf so stop acting like one.
"tell your wife she doesn't know what she's talk'n about" . . . then follow that with "go make me a sammich" . . . just make sure the ammo is secure & you have a bug out bag ready :)
there should be some predators for humans also we are ruining our environment much more than any other species on earth there should be some balance.
Noel Chandan just take away modern medicine and add euthanasia,
It’s a win/win
Natural selection will control human population and also make the species stronger.
Their called blacks. Try taking a stroll in Chicago or Detroit at night, you will be hunted.
I agree
Fully agreed, humanity is a plague.
Where can I shoot a buck 5 minutes into season? Just want some meat in the freezer lol
After listening to Rinella talk , I can see how he made a living off of a hunting and outdoors show . He is an excellent speeker for sure . If Rinella has time , maybe he should go to the white house to give Biden a public speeking lesson !!!
Very well done with clear explanations !!
And YES !!!! I'm jealous that I can't be hunting and fishing nesrly as much as he does !!!
“Everything gets it’s chance to be a bear”- Steven Rinella
Nothing wrong about hunting, but try 7 billion people with the same passion!
That's an excellent point.
Yeah
Lol I like how he talks like saying he believes spiritually in this and that crap, that makes up for everything.
Yup, there's one thing this guy is interested in, and that's pullin' triggers.
Yeah it's a bunch of bullshit, shooting innocents is the opposite of spiritual.
Jeeez, that camera work is absolutely terrible
Guessing she was the wife
Such an unlikely looking outdoorsman. I saw the episode where he killed the bear and fried it in its own fat. It really didn't appeal on every level.
fake
We need to help those iguanas in need getting hunted down when they are doing nothing to humans it’s parents who are just letting their kids roam free and mess with iguanas let’s all try to help theses poor lizards who aren’t doing anything wrong
Way better hunters then him,,,
I typically eat meat over anything
But, I’ve discovered that the 5 strongest animals on earth are all herbivores
I wonder why?
Well, herbivores usually have easier access to food. Like grass, trees, etc. That's easier than stalking an animal and using energy on killing it. That's why herbivores are able to get bigger.
What a terrible speaker lol
Remember that nobody needs to eat meat especially with how easy food availability is in so many countries. You choose to end the life of an animal and have convinced yourself that you are doing some good service.....let's get into the modern world please.
Yeah it's quite stupid when these people have internet and electricity but act like savages and kill animals when they can just buy crops.
