This is a rebroadcast of Vortex Optics' live sit down Q&A with Steven Rinella. Connect with Vortex Optics: / vortexoptics / vortexoptics / vortexoptics / vortexoptics www.vortexoptics.com
You guys should do more Q&A with Steven Rinella. Nobody represents me as a hunter better, more articulately and more convincingly than Steven. The more we promote his voice, the better it will be for all of us hunters and outdoors-men and women.
@Proper 3D - we definitely have Chinese glass in our line, just like all of our competitors. Also on that note, just like our competitors, we have several optics made entirely in the United States (Barneveld, WI, just to be clear).
@Proper 3D - we won't speak on behalf of our friends at Leupold, but to our knowledge the Razor AMG is the most American-made riflescope offered on the market today. A top priority of ours is to bring even more manufacturing in-house. Although we don't offer free custom turrets, we've got a great relationship with Kenton Industries to create them for you according to your specific load.
I mean it can't get much better than this. My favorite optic company and someone who I was introduced to recently via Netflix that I instantly connected with Steven Rinella. This was really entertaining for me. The passion in which Steve talks about hunt'n fish'n cook'n and the out of doors get me fired up. I didn't catch this live but thanks for making this available
Glad to hear you enjoyed this +Phil Rizzuti! We're glad that we could bring together two things you enjoy! Thank you for your support - it is much appreciated!! -RJ
Glad to see so many people stoked on Rinella. He is the quintessential man and hunter. We should all be methodical, pragmatic, thoughtful all the while pushing ourselves through pain and rejection to reach our goals.
The basic, common sence, simplicity of this gentleman's approach to hunting and cooking game is very exciting and reveals true wisdom far beyond his years. He's a fella I'd enjoy meeting out on the trail.
Ryan Muckenhirn has become somewhat of a firearms spirit animal for me in recent weeks. After rediscovering this piece, I am impressed with how far he has come as a broadcaster and interviewer. I would be lucky to have a beer in camp with either of these men.
Just finished his book. “American Buffalo”. It’s is absolutely amazing. His way of giving you a history lesson and telling amazing stories at the same time is frickin cool. Just ordered more of his books. Hope he does something new soon
I think people like Cam Hanes, Adam Greentree, Remi Warren, and Joe Rogan are also playing a gigantic role but Steven is definitely the most philosophical with his talks.
you are so right i started hunting because of him. and now i have a group of 6 guys who would never hunt asking me questions and planning trips with me!
Those of you critical of Ryan should do two things before passing judgement on his interview skills. First, keep in mind Steve is experienced in all forms of media which allows Ryan to let Steve do his thing. So many interviewers attempt to overshadow their subject, while Ryan's approach is key to the substance and intent of a very informational interview. What's more, I suspect the most critical people couldn't stutter their way through an Eighth grade speech class. Second, know who you are being critical of. You would be hard pressed to find a person of the quality that is Ryan. Before you engage in name calling and nit-picking ask yourself what you have done in the last day, month, or year to promote and protect hunting and the shooting sports. I thought so. As for what brand you prefer, grow up and recognize Vortex didn't get to where they are by selling a second rate product regardless of who did the manufacturing. Look at your cell phone or HD television and tell me you aren't being a hypocrite.
When I was younger (around 12) my dad brought me out hunting everyday during Christmas break and he just figured I was having fun (because all the other times I am) but 8 days straight really got to me. So make sure you ask your kids WANT to go every time. That almost made me hate hunting but luckily I went back out months later and I was in love with sitting in the woods again!
The host is speaking only on the left while Steven is speaking only on the right. The sound also drops at certain points. Probably the sound guy mixing during the interview. The wait at the beginning was a bit awkward but great interview and as someone who has been producing Steven obviously noticed that. He is a great guy and I hope I can go hunting in the near future.
Big Vortex and Rinella fan here...think some of the comments about the interviews are nit picky and stupid, but the one thing I would like to see corrected is a microphone for the behind the camera questions. Good interview.
This is a little late for my comment as I just discovered this video, however, in regards to preserving my moral mushrooms, I pressure can mine in 1/2 pint jars. Just blanch them down and hot pack in the same water you blanch them in and pressure cook for 10 minute at 10 pounds of pressure. It takes 300 to 350 average size black morals for 7 1/2 pints. Nothing is as good as fresh but over the many years I've been a mushroom picker, this method of preservation is as close to fresh as I have ever found. I too grew up in West Michigan and still live near Ludington. I have picked many morals near Twin Lake Michigan LOL.
Insightful and inspiring as always, but my god, how did they just blow past the interviewer's question about Steve's favorite place to hunt of all time?
Gregory Hamilton call your state’s wildlife commission mdwfp.com/wildlife-hunting/ is their website. Ask about public hunting lands and resources for a hunter safety course. Buy a pump action shotgun and hunter orange hat and vest and become a student.
You know what I like best about you Steve is your bucks arnt named you don't have a hit list on your deer . I hate a lot of hunting shows . If I can name my deer it's not hunting there wild pets
So I thought I was the only one who used plastic wrap and freezer paper. I was telling a friend a week or 2 ago that I’ve eaten deer and elk 3 years later and it tasted great! The same as it would a month later. People always look at me strange when I tell them this. If they have meat over a year old they throw it out. Such a waste!
Anyone who has been on hunts with Rinella and Zero Point Zero knows Janis Putelis is the true hunter. Rinella has to be constantly briefed on what to do and not to do. So many times Steve will go to the truck to cry and vent.. then Janis has to bring a kleenex and give him a pep talk and wipe the tears off his face.
Man, solid talk by Steve... Great info and all round good show. I get it... The interviewer is not comfortable in front of the camera and that really shows when Steve is just in his element but I mean sneaking a candy into ur mouth while live in the middle of an interview... Buddy ur pushing it! Seems very disrespectful to the interviewed and the audience.
Hello! I’m Gary Golding and I’m known for eating crazy stuff on the show Naked and Afraid. I live this life you speak of. I would love to talk to you about some ideas.
Good interview and all but the host needs to work on his interview skills. Hardly looks Steve in his eye. He looks around as he is talking rather than at Steve and when Steve is responding as well. Seems as if he isnt paying attention. You actually can tell you're trying to focus more on looking at the camera than Steve haha. Just a bad look lol but great other than that!
We never said the interview was going to look pretty - just a chance to get some more info with Steve! ;) Thanks for the feedback though and thanks for watching!
Well done Steve always good to hear more on hunting, but who was the interviewer? One of the worst interviews ive seen, did not engage with Steve stared at the camera when talking to him so no eye contact, then gets a mint out of its wrapper and starts eating it? Wtf! Disrespectful at best!
Bummed to hear you were so disappointed by the way we conducted the interview. Keep in mind, there's a lot of juggling when you're interviewing live on social media. The "audience" isn't Steve - it's the viewers online. That's why Ryan isn't looking directly at Steve for every second of the video. It sucks to hear we disappointed you with the content - we'll definitely keep your feedback in mind next time we do a live interview.

Nice to see more American Made Products
Yes, watch Steve all the time and want to know what kind of rifles and scopes he uses in different hunts
Could listen to Steven all day. Leading by example! 👍👍
Absolutely! He's a great advocate for our lifestyle!
Keep promoting his voice, he is good on what he is doing. Great video.

Look who it is!
Absolutely brother! He is an amazing lad
As always Steve is such an articulate spokesperson. Loved the live Q&A.

Steve is awesome. I bought a 22 LR to start hunting squirrels this fall.
That's a great place to start +Dylan L. - best of luck hunting!! -RJ
Dylan L best of luck! Rinellas books, the Complete Guides, are great references!
Go get em' tiger

Well done on bringing up the issue of public land.
Steve is just one of those guys who I could meet as a complete stranger and have a totally natural conversation about hunting for hours lol
Loved that the morels got mentioned.. Just moved back to the east coast and missed morel season. Found 15lbs of chicken mushrooms today though!
That's awesome!!
I'm glad you guys started off with the public land topic. Can't be mentioned enough. Also, can't wait to get my Vortex binos!
Thank you so much for your support!! Happy to have you in the Vortex Nation! - Kelly, kmartin@vortexoptics.com

Great point - it needs to be a fun experience and a want for them!
Thank you Amen
Hire an audio engineer. Vortex guy is only coming out of the right ear. Lots of background noise from cloths.
Skeeter Valentine nerd

Thank you! I'm not the only one to be annoyed by the switched up audio. I guess I noticed easier because I listen on headphones
Awesome! Vortex is an awesome company! My uncle (Reuben Aleckson) works there. And I love your show Steven Rinella! It's awesome!
Hey +Anders Aleckson - great to hear you love the show! Reuben says "Hey Anders!"
Hey Reuben! Anyway, Vortex, what graphics do you use to make your intro?
Are you talking about the images we have up before our LIVE events? They change for each event depending on what it is revolving around!
Big Vortex and Rinella fan here...think some of the comments about the interviews are nit picky and stupid, but the one thing I would like to see corrected is a microphone for the behind the camera questions. Good interview.
Hi Steve, Louisiana boy here. It's pronounced Tony 'sash-uh-rays'. But we just call it Tony's. I carry it when I hunt too

My friend gave me a moose sirloin roast in 2015, cooked it in 2021. Wrapped in plastic wrap and butchers paper.... Deliscious
Great audio
i hope you're being sarcastic
I love how Steve shows that not all hunts are successful
I’d love to know what are the most common parasites to watch out for in game meat and how to deal with them ?
:08 to :12 was riveting!
Never thought about the dry aged duck. Good tip!
Audio issues. Love Steve.
Patrilineal. I just learned a new word. I'll be using that in a sentence the first chance I get.
the start of the video didnt give me confidence in the host, but i give it to him. i think he did a great job. dont judge to quickly i guess.
that intro, Steves like, what the..............hell
lol this was one of our first vortex live videos and Facebook makes it a little arbitrary as to when you're supposed to start talking :)
how the hell do you guys not get into optics????
Steve, how good did thc catfish from Bolivia taste?
Insightful and inspiring as always, but my god, how did they just blow past the interviewer's question about Steve's favorite place to hunt of all time?
We'll see if we can get the GPS coordinates for ya ;)
@@VortexOpticsUSA Haha thanks! That would be excellent
I’m so scared to get started where can I go in Mississippi and get started?

Rinella-Putelis 2020
Not if you are a Conservative. Ol' Yanni has different ideas.
I prefer morels breaded and fried.
Love everything from Steve. Audio is shit though....
Those stools look very uncomfortable for a 45 minute Q&A
So I thought I was the only one who used plastic wrap and freezer paper. I was telling a friend a week or 2 ago that I’ve eaten deer and elk 3 years later and it tasted great! The same as it would a month later. People always look at me strange when I tell them this. If they have meat over a year old they throw it out. Such a waste!
It’s a true credit to Steve that I am still here even through the annoying audio quality

So many times Steve will go to the truck to cry and vent.. then Janis has to bring a kleenex and give him a pep talk and wipe the tears off his face.
And you know this from personal experience?
If steve wasnt so smart i would think he is a stoner. 😆
Audio is reversed when listening with headphones, pretty annoying.
Are you sure you weren't smoking on a crack rock when you listened to this?
Hahahahaha Steve does not look enthused

Give them a break. Hard to look the meat eater in the eye. He did a good job
interviewer stop looking at the fucking camera. focus on the person youre interviewing
Steve you need to dump YETI . YETI COOLERS IS NOT A SUPPORTIVE OF THE 2ND AMENDMENT. BOYCOTT YETI COOLERS
Cringe intro lol
We have to make sure everything is good to go, Lol!
Great interview just wish this guy Ryan didn't look/feel so uncomfortable

The guy who is interviewing Steve is not clearly not interested at all. He is a horrible interviewer!
