    Cannot thank you enough for this video.My 05 VTX 1300c with 90,000 on it would not start after it heated up.Noticed the neutral light wasn`t working after riding about 10 miles.Bought a new neutral switch & problem solved.FYI my mechanic said it probably needed a 300-400 dollar valve job.Thanks for saving me some big bucks!

      This is EXACTLY The issue I’m having!! Ride the bike 10 or 11 miles turn it off it’s hot try to restart it the neutral light does not come on and it will not fire up until it cools down and the neutral light is on/ Part is arriving today hopefully and if this is all it is I will be so happy! Thanks for this video and the comment I am replying

    As many have already said, thank you very much for this video. Mine has stranded me twice now. I figured it was a neutral safety switch problem. You confirmed it!

    OMFG! You are my hero! I was so freaking out today. Been waiting for my FPR to come in so I can start up my bike. But while waiting for it. My neutral light went out. I did test the actual light from the gauge cluster. Which worked fine. So right before I start tearing the bike apart out of rage. Your video was the first to come up on this subject. And thank god! Great video my friend. And yes it is the same as on the VTX1800. I have an 02 VTX1800R2 Retro. Main setup seems to look the same.

    Just installed the new part for this problem on my VTX1300S. Thanks for the video. Spent $13 on parts, and remembered how fun it is to do a little something to my bike myself..

    Thank you so much for this well done video. My Honda Fury 1300 has had issues with all the very same symptoms. I will begin to work on this, and I am pretty confident that this issue will be solved. Great video from start to finish.
    This is exactly what I needed.
    Thank You Very Much.
    cheers.

    Thanks for that info. I have trouble with my neutral light too but the symptoms are not the same. It only comes on sometimes when I am in neutral. Often flickers when in neutral too. Since my bike has never turned off or not been able to start with the kickstand down while in neutral, even with the light not illuminated, I will be searching from the actual bulb back through the system to find the bad connection. Thanks for explaining the shutting off and not starting with the kickstand down while in neutral symptoms in your video here. That let me eliminate the switch as the actual problem in my case. ;-)

    Just got me a 06 VTX 1300R with less than 7000 miles. I noticed that if I put it into neutral when stopped I can't get it into first without either rocking it back and forth or letting the clutch go and pulling it in again to get it to go into first. I searched the VTX forums and it seems like it's usual for the VTX's to do this. I'm fairly new to riding so wanna know if it is indeed something normal for them to do

    • @edscorsese
      @edscorsese  Před 7 lety +1

      maui808boiz it's quite normal on all Japanese bikes. at least the ones that I've owned. thanks for commenting!

    • @peteowens3033

      Yes. These bikes have square cut gears unlike Honda's smaller cc bikes. That makes shifting the transmission noisy and a big more difficult at times. Running a good motor oil will often help the shifting of the transmission. I use to run the "Honda" motor oil in mine ( until I read the reviews ;-0). Since I have found that switching to Shell Rotella T6 was a big improvement in how she shifts. With this oil I also find that when the shifting get more difficult it also clues me that I need to change my oil. After I do she shift great again.

    Any suggestions on how to repair an odometer lens that has become crazed or cracked by the sun? It’s on a 2007 VTX1300R

    • @edscorsese
      @edscorsese  Před 4 lety

      I had very light scratches at one point and polished it out with plastX from meguires and it worked out great. Now I'm not sure how bad yours is but maybe you can approach it like you're doing car headlight restoration. There is light sanding involved. But it may work brother. Be safe out there!

    Well Eddie put the new neutral switch in and solved the problem for about 6-8 months and now same issues are back again.Any thoughts on what it could be? Have 1 year old Yuasa battery,new plugs,and cleaned the connection on the neutral switch.The new thing is that I have to pull the clutch lever in & the bike starts right up.

      Funny you mention that. I've been starting to see my neutral light flickering again. I'll have do some research and get back to you. It's like if something is not making contact.

    • @daverobertson4033
      @daverobertson4033 Před 6 lety

      Could it be that it needs a valve job like my mechanic suggested? With the neutral light flickering you would think it was electrical,plus my engine runs great so scratching my head on that one.

    • @edscorsese
      @edscorsese  Před 6 lety +1

      I found this hopefully this helps...
      1. Neutral light bulb burnt out.
      2. Faulty neutral switch.
      3. A loose bulb in the socket.
      4. Faulty wiring from the neutral switch to the light.
      5. If the neutral light stays on while the bike is in gear the wire from the light to the neutral switch is grounded.
