    The interior is not horrible. It is however horrible for the money. Spending $50K-$60K should not get you a Fischer Price interior with that outdated dash and steering wheel. It’s a solid upgrade exterior wise. But nobody can honestly say that interior is an upgrade, or even fits the price for that matter.

    I own a 2016 Sierra Denali. There are so many things I wish was different. I went with a buddy to look at the new Ram and the interior is so much nicer. I wish GM would step up their game and make a much nicer back seat. Example would be reclining seats, heated and cooled seats plus their back seat console is huge. Come on GM. If it's over $60,000, it should be a no brainer. Do better.

      That is true. I messed around at the dealer while my 16 3500 was in the bay for the recalls. My god is the 2018/19 Laramie 1500 beautiful inside. The body is not all there, but i do like the air up/down on the suspension. Also the factory amp type steps. Looking at these GM trucks, they were put to shame. I will say ram takes the cake on design. The 09-18 models have a timless appearance. Hard to tell unless you open the door to what year they were. This new 1500 simply blows Titan, GM, and Ford out of the water. Especially for the price.

      I bet that RAM breaks down within the first 100K miles. So you'll have a truck with a sweet interior, but can't go anywhere. I'll take the reliability of my Chevy and sacrifice a few crappy perks of the RAM.

    The things I hate about the Silverado...
    1) Auto start/stop
    2) Cylinder deactivation
    3) Horrible throttle response
    4) Electronic transfer case (lack of 2 speed in non Z71)
    5) Terribly high gearing (3.23 and 3.42, should be 3.73 or above)

    • @AStanton1966
      @AStanton1966 Před 5 lety +10

      That auto start/stop is the worse feature. We have one on a 2017 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. Pushing the gas pedal to restart the vehicle is like driving a big-butt golf cart. I rather pay a $1,000 gas guzzler tax to the corrupt EPA than get stuck with this feature.

    • @brandoncaldwell95
      @brandoncaldwell95 Před 5 lety +1

      A Stanton1966 Solution, go older and do a full restore. Ill be buying a new truck, and putting my baby into the shop for a top to bottom off frame restore. Paint looks good, just needs to be buffed out. Benefit of a Tx truck. Also, only having surface rust on the frame.

    • @natehawkins2910
      @natehawkins2910 Před 5 lety +1

      A Stanton1966 you are right! My 2018 f150's worst feature is that stupid stop start!! Also the slow response 10spd tranny. Makes a twin turbo seem sluggish ...I'm going to go to a duramax HD to get away from these horrible "features"

    • @AStanton1966
      @AStanton1966 Před 5 lety +4

      I know what you mean. It's terrible to be brand loyal, then getting driven away from the brand due to inane features you don't want or can't use. I like Silverados. I had a LS grade in 2003 that gave me power-folding mirrors. In 2017 I had to buy a LTZ grade to get the same power-folding mirrors. Chevy should realize that more people today keep these trucks in garages and may have to retract the sideview mirrors to do this.

    • @brandoncaldwell95
      @brandoncaldwell95 Před 5 lety +1

      A Stanton1966 You are lucky to find a garage thatll fit a full sized truck. Many new home plans are nightmares. One guy i worked with as a roof and floor truss designer for these new homes had to fold his mirrors in, pull in at an angle, choke the tires and put it in nuetral to roll farwards by hand against the block. If he didnt, he would hit the wall or the door wouldnt close. Also couldnt have the ball in as the door would sit ontop. Funny part was when the door closed, there was maybe 1/4in from the wall and door. Brand new 2015 (at the time) home and his truck hardly fit. I was happy to quite that job due to idiotic architects. Who the hell puts an HVAC system over a vault on a 3 story drop with 30ft of 2ftx2ft crawl space?!?!. Anyways, GM like many manfuactures have been getting stupid. They claim to be listening to what people want, but the price gouging is horrid.

    3: Mirror Placement: It isn't a Cruze
    4: Power Tailgate

    7: Center Stack: It is DIRECTLY from a foreign 2018 Chevy Trailblazer
    8: Auto Start Stop: It isn't a Spark
    9: Double Glove Box: Just looks stupid

      Ryan that’s crazy! I am a lover of older, simpler technology (I drive a 2011 Impala with a 4 speed and v6), but nothing should ever be inspired by an Aveo. The neighbors baby sitter has one, and it’s in awful condition. The red has faded incredibly, door handles and trim falling off, and the brakes squeal with near new pads.

From there on out I’d buy a ford. Not a ford guy either but when the company I work for has a large fleet of trucks and the only ones that need work steady are the gms. My ford has 225k kms on it and has had a brake job rear shocks and regular maintenance. Said truck is a 2016 eco boost. Lots of forest access roads and mine sites.

    I bought a 2018 Tahoe and a 2018 Ram 2500. Love both vehicles. I will say that the quality of the backup camera on the Ram is much brighter and clearer then the Tahoe. The one simple feature that is the best though is the integrated phone holder in my Ram. A simple design that holds two phones and puts them right where you want them in the console to give you access to them. Our Tahoe is a Premier so it has much more bells and whistles but sometimes its the simple things that you appreciate the most.

    Price is slightly better for the chevrolet that is also lighter and slightly quicker. but the ram has air suspensions, etorque technology and supposedly better comfort. That's an hard choice for me.
    Consider I want a pickup but rarely haul more than 250 lbs. I just buy it because I want a fullsize suv (like the tahoe) space engine and platform in a cheaper package. Any advise for me?

      @cgriebel1 Před 5 lety +2

      From a replacement standpoint, they probably did that intentionally. If that thing needs replacement, it's accessible from the corner of the headliner. A buddy of mine owns a brand new Colorado, and the OEM/rear mounted shark fin went bad a few months after he bought the truck here on LI. He was forced to install an aftermarket puck type antenna in the driver front corner because in order to replace the OEM sharkfin, they told him the headliner would have had to be removed, in addition to the windshield (!). He's a local auto parts counter guy, who's been around cars his whole life, and didn't want them tearing the headliner down. Personally, I would have had no problem with the dealer doing that, but he insisted he would have had a sagging headliner in no time, and his local high-end body shop told him the same thing (?). I almost didn't believe him until I actually saw his brand new Colorado a week later with a cheap puck Sirius type antenna neatly installed up on the driver front corner of the truck. Couldn't believe my eyes.

    • @brandoncaldwell95
      @brandoncaldwell95 Před 5 lety

      Chris Griebel Ya, once you start messing with headliners they tend to fall sooner. My 05 silverado has the factory headlliner. Still almost in perfect condition as i never touch it ir allow anyone to touch it. At the doors, it has fallen a little, but nothing a little glue and glove didnt fix. Ive seen many more of the same year having pins holding the headliner up or they simply removed it. Not only that, but resealing a windshield after removal is a pain. They do not want to sit right and will crack. Having a windshield replaced is different as it tends to mold to the car once installed. Once molded, it has to go back exactly otherwise kiss that sucker goodbye..

    You don’t really need to bother building your product knowledge on this new truck, it’s such a giant flop that not many people will be walking in wanting to buy one in the first place.
    If you looked at this truck in a bubble where it’s competitors don’t exist then this truck looks alright, but if you compare it to the F-150 or especially the new RAM then this truck shows itself to be a massive disappointment, the interior is barren boring and very last gen especially that instrument cluster (it’s just embarrassing), the exterior has maybe one good angle but it’s generally an unpleasant and awkward look (my personal opinion) and it’s just doesn’t have the polish, refinement, clever features, modern design, upmarket luxury feel or desirability of the F-150 or RAM.

I really wish throttles were still drive-by-wire. I can't stand the electronic throttle control. I feel as if in emergency situations, the throttle is too slow to respond. At certain angles it looks like a Tundra though, with the way the body creases are along the side. I do like it better than the big boxy current style. Just metal and plastic in a different shape for $50K.

    Thanks Chevy dude for the info. As long as salt is spread out on our snowy/icy roads, Any name vehicle with steel body/frame will rust after 5 or so years. I dont care what they coat it with. I brush painted my 2010 silverado frame 3x since new with gloss black oil based epoxy and repainted the driver side rocker panel and the area in behind the tail lights w/ granite blue. Also have to keep the driveshafts,control arms,rear shocks,rear axle housing,etc. painted or they too will rust away.If you lean on a silverado body too much it leaves a dent. 87 and earlier chevy truck bodies were IRON💪.

      Michel, I'm so upset with Chevy right now. I've been filming Silverado's on my channel since 2011. When Mike put this video up I watched it second by second. For the longest time now I've been hoping Chevrolet would make some HUGE upgrades to the LT trim level. To me the Truck looks smaller than the current Silverado for 2018. I don't know man, but I'm going to have to wait and see this truck in person when it shows up in my city. Make sure to subscribe to my channel to see my thoughts on it and a big thanks to Chevy Dude for being honest with his viewers. Chad Dolbier

    That ruff stuff on the bottom of the truck is called rock guard and its easy to apply since it's a spray on applicator and no it won't stop rust since rust starts on the inside. All it will do is delay the sign of rust in that are til the rust reaches to the metal not covered by the rock guard

I'm a chevy guy through and through but it looks like my 17 L5P Duramax is gonna have to last forever now and that's fine that it is a because it's like a beautiful modern rendition of the 80s square bodys and I love it. This thing looks like a tundra had drunken buttsex with an f150??? What the hell is with those stupid looking mirrors, and the interior in my 17 LTZ is a hell of alot nicer. Why does GM not realize that these days we want gigantic touchscreens, the new dodge is just as ugly but at least they realize that screen is a major plus! This thing sucks, Chevy fucked up is right!

      Totally agree. Have a 2018 Denali hd and was hoping the new 2020 would have a different dash than the 1500 but its the same disgusting thing for 80k.all the knobs and sterling wheel are penny pinched from the cross overs and lower end cars. there to small for the scale of the truck. the only thing nice is the sheet metal and finally led lights. I'm keep my truck until they redeem them selves.

      Id honestly hate to see the price for the starter on these new trucks. I actually idel a lot when out on my land. I prefer having an AC escape from 110F heat. Also take a siesta while idling. Think the longest ive slept was 2 hours, but from 12-2pm WTF was i going to do while waiting for parts? Cheaper to idle in the truck than drive back and forth to the house, shop, or parts store...

      What do you mean? You know there are different grades of aluminum, I'm sure. My old 2006 Subaru Impreza has almost all aluminum skin, and went through both door dings and a major hail storm. The thing had over a HUNDRED dings and a really good PDR guy got them ALL out for a tenth of the cost of body/painting the car. Aluminum is more difficult to work with, and is not as elastic or malleable as steel, but it can be repaired.
