why have i gotten like 4 notifications for this one vid? and why did at least one of them not work? the hell was that about?
By the way, where did you get that Herbie toy? Herbie merch is actually quite rare...
Bumblebee not being a Volkswagen Beetle was not a choice entirely made by Bay, since Volkswagen absolutely refused to have their cars associated with "war toys" until just a couple years ago. I hate to defend Bay, but making the change in Bee's alt-mode Bay's fault is entirely disingenuous.
It's probably because they were founded by the NAZIS.
I also recall Bay being ok with it because, with the way the movie went, and I quote “it would feel like a Herbie the Love Bug movie”
I mean its only disingenuous if he knew that.
That doesnt sound like info that would be well known by a lot of people.
@@RonquixoteDIII The reservations Volkswagen had toward Transformers are well-known in much of the deeper Transformers community (though I cant say how involved Quinton is, obviously). After some more research, it can be inferred that the reservations stem from vehicles designed by Ferdinand Porsche, of which the Beetle is one of, were used in the original Go-Bots line exclusively as villains due to their designer, so Volkswagen refused to be involved with "war toys" until just a few years ago. Calling it disingenuous was a step too far, I admit, but it's a clear distinction to make.
Sure Bay couldn't have made a beetle, but he did make a the car it was. Damned auto correct.

Gundams and mobile suites are not sentient. Most do not transform, and most need a pilot to operate them. Go away.
You joke, but I feel like the way they fixed the designs for the Bayformers was by taking the G1 designs and throwing a coat of Gundam-esque detailing on them.

I sense genuine happiness in your voice during that last part. It really sounds like you've gotten a long lost friend back, and I am so incredibly happy for you.
The sad part though, for me, is seeing the opening for it. $8 million is much lower than any other Transformers movie. All of those Transformers movies have given the series such negative..."karma" for lack of a better word?...that, the second it took the "Transformers" name off of the title, but still made it clear that it was a "Transformers movie," it didn't perform nearly as well (so far). It feels like a betrayal. THIS is the good movie! THIS is the one that actually performed well! So WHY DIDN'T THEY GIVE THIS THE PROMOTIONAL LOVE??
Even with the lesser returns that this is probably going to have (hopefully the great reviews that it's getting from people and critics will turn that around), I hope that the studio sees that this is what a good movie looks like, and they do that with the next "main" Transformers movie. Bring Travis Knight on to direct, bring all of the characters in, and promote the everloving shit out of it. Give a GOOD Transformers movie the big push.
Mikkmakk - as someone who grew up at that time and loved the series (including the more "serious" evolution that the comics had), that's exactly what it is. The original Transformer movies essentially ripped the heart out of what the series was, filled it with generic, unoriginal material, and then to boot shredded the designs as to make them unrecognizable. This actually looks like what someone would make who 1) loved the series the way many of us do, and 2) is talented as hell. It's a real emotional win for a lot of us.
I've never seen a single Herbie movie, but since Bumblebee features Stan Bush's "The Touch", while the other Herbie movies persumably do not feature it, it's safe to assume that it is by default, the best Herbie movie.
Coincidentally, The Touch is also featured in The Transformers: The Movie from 1986. Could this indicate that Bumblebee is actually a Transformers movie?

Bumblebee being a love bug is great cause of design “rules” that state that the more round a character is the more friendly they look. When the character has lots of edges they look more evil.
So yeah, Bumblebee is shaped like a friend in this movie.

Now we need to turn this into a franchise where a different Transformed gets stranded on earth and makes friends in every installment.
I can't wait for "Optimus Prime" where he adopts three homeless children and some stray kittens and "Megatron" where he gets amnesia and helps a girl open a bakery. The movie ends with Megatron being rescued, regaining his memories and becoming the laughing stock of the Decepticons.

I haven't watched the first Transformers movie. (Having been raised on Beast Wars, the idea of so many human characters threw me off, even as the OG series ... had human characters.), but given that there are 6 full size decipticons and like 4 of they are black or dark grey is pretty rough. I will give that an OG style Megatron being grey and black is fine, but starscream should have a different color scheme, and like, in ever other appearance I can find he does.

Tropical Pepper I'm just glad you chose to watch Spider verse instead. Bumblebee really isn't very good once you start thinking about it and apply even the barest amount of logic to it (By which I mean logical choices and rules set up in the movie world) Many parts don't make sense, or are contrived to the point that it feels like a child wrote the script.

It’s one of the greatest feelings in the world when your favorite childhood projects is adapted not only correctly but emotionally.
Quinton, I feel like I can relate to everything you say in this video. I grew up on Herbie, which gave me an interest in cars which led me to Transformers. And this movie feels like the labor of love I’ve been longing for
Dude is that actually your bug? Pretty cool!

“Beetle bumble bee is bae” is such a great sentence tho
Bumblebee was so good it made me frustrated that it didn’t release 11 years earlier in place of Michael Bay’s Transformers.
Galactic Specter I was surprised to see Michael Bays name in the credits for Bumblebee...thank god no one let him near the art/camera department.
The thing is, we probably could have, because Travis Knight's Bumblebee movie seems pretty dam similar to the original pitch that Spielberg had for a Transformers movie. He saw the movie as being primarily about the bond between a boy and his first car, which turns out to be a fugitive robot on the run. However Spielberg didn't actually want to direct the film himself and handed the project over to Bay, thinking he was a good fit for the material (for some reason), and that's seems to be where that more heart-felt family-friendly treatment on the material got developed into the 14-year old boy's militant wet dream that we ended up with instead.
@@MetalVII I had a feeling he was still involved pretty closely with "Bumblebee". I mean if you have a guy who's been doing films(regardless of their declining quality) on these characters for ten years, you're gonna as him for some advice and had him supervising the action scenes. I mean, it's not like they had him in some undersized dog cage with nothing but a pen, notepad, and orders to take notes.
Cant we say the same thing for star wars
9:33 Quinton, you don't have the right to hug Herbie like that. It's the type of thing that shouldn't be so cute.

@@diegodankquixote-wry3242 With all do respect, I want to mush your head with a vice for using "boi" so much.
The Shockwave in this movie is literally just a super enhanced version of the Shockwave in the G1 show. Meanwhile, in the one other live action Transformers movie he was in, he was this weird shiny thing that was all pointy and ugly.

Quinton real talk: do you think that they could use the success of this movie to springboard a new Transformers movie franchise - one that is more accurate to the original cartoon? And if so, how do you imagine they would go about it?
Most of all transformers cartoons are based off the geewun cartoon though.
Tbh I would like to see more transformers movies that have nothing to do with Michael Bay, I enjoyed the 2007 and 2011, that’s about it
Deigo Quixotwry geewun? Yeh mean g1? As in generation one? Lol
RC -1138 yes, geewun is a silly name of g1.
No, G1 had so many flaws that people refuse to see, with continuity errors that were just as bad as Bayverse. We need one that’s more like IDW.
(I'm just going to say what I said last time) the reason I think the og herbie movies are great as they have a good way of giving him character and emotion just through his beeps and movement (unlike fully loaded with tried to give him a face) and I think that's why I like him so much.
Hey Quinton. This Video is great. This is probably the best one I've seen by you so far. The idea to compare Bumblebee with Herbie works really great, the Nord VPN sponsorship "joke" in the middle of it was really well done (srsly this is how one should include a sponsorship thingie, it really felt like it is part of the flow of the video), and most of all it was really a joy to see how you enjoyed talking about this movie. So yea. Just wanted to tell you that this video is great and that i really enjoyed it. So thanks for that, and happy holidays :)

"If you guys make good movies, then people see the movies." Why does Hollywood not grasp this concept???
Bree Lynch sometimes making a movie that’s good takes more than the studio method can do, no matter how much money you throw at it. The best they hope for is pleasing focus groups and turning a profit. Meanwhile great movies are never given a wide distribution because ‘no one will want to see them’ due to the impression that the movie going audiences are morons.
Because with Transformers, when you make bad movies, people still go to see the movies!
though that trend has started to fail them; as the Last Knight flopped hard.
8:54 Let me guess, the best bee movie is the bee movie. You got me there quinton, you got me there.

“Volkswagen Bumblebee is bae” has the third part figure of the hearts of steel version of bumble bee that turns into a train and not a beetle
The thing I loved about the Bumblebee movie is that it’s actually heartwarming, and there is very little down time, there is always something going on

This is honestly one of my favorite movies this year. I never really thought much of bumblebee as a character but now I like him a lot
I actually had an idea about picking up Bumblebee action figure as a Volkswagen Bug and repainting it into Herbie. Then I could have a Herbie that is a Transformer!
As much as I loved the original Transformers cartoon Bumblebee was the only one of the toys I owned. Part of that was because he was my favorite, part of that was just the expense of the other toys. My parents didn't mind getting me both Barbie and GI Joe, but Transformers was just a little too much money-wise.
And yes, a big reason I hated the Bay movies was Bumblebee not being a Volkswagen. I know the company didn't want their car associated with violence, but to me it would be better to leave Bumblebee out completely rather than make him a different car.
Bumble bee as a Camaro is so rad though
