Christmas Market in Monschau - Germany 4K Travel Channel

- Monschau is a small town near the Belgian border on the edge of the Eifel. The river Rur has cut a narrow valley between the mountain slopes. Monschau is famous for its Christmas market and mustard.
The half-timbered houses give the feeling of being directly in a nativity scene.
Before we go on our way, we first visit the tourist information to find out more about the offer. Of course, a plan for the Christmas market is available.
Unfortunately, the weather is just as bad as predicted. But we don't let this spoil our mood.
We decide to go to Haller. Even though at the entrance door there is a sign 'pub and restaurant', this is a traditional German Gasthaus with a small kitchen, where you can eat and drink in a rustic atmosphere. Of course, the escalope with a mustard sauce of Monschau must not be missing.
There is always a good mood in the Gasthaus Haller, which is mainly carried by the nice landlords Marco and Jacqueline.
Marco always has a funny remark in his back and thus keeps all guests in a cheerful mood. Those who want to eat should book in advance, as the Haller is very popular with the locals as well as with international visitors. One likes to come back again.
In the market hall and the Aukloster, an indoor Christmas market takes place, so that one can escape at least occasionally from the rain.
Quite fun is the idea of a walk-in snow globe as a photo spot, set up near the tourist information. In a transparent sphere, you find yourself in a miniature world of Monschau.
Worth mentioning are the products of the Monschau Historic Mustard Mill, a family owned enterprise with a long tradition. In a cellar vault, many different types of mustard are offered, including the well-known Monschau original mustard.
The Art and Culture Center (KuK) acts as an advent calendar. The windows are covered with glass objects, representing a variety of patterns from the textile industry.

Monschau ist ein kleiner Ort nahe der belgischen Grenze am Rande der Eifel. Der Fluss Rur hat ein schmales Tal zwischen die Berghänge geschnitten.
Monschau ist berühmt für seinen Weihnachtsmarkt und seinen Senf.
Die Fachwerkhäuser vermitteln das Gefühl als befinde man sich direkt in einer Krippe.
Bevor wir uns auf den Weg machen, besuchen wir erst einmal die Touristen Information, um zu erfahren, wo was angeboten wird. Natürlich hat man einen Plan des Weihnachtsmarktes vorbereitet.
Leider ist das Wetter genau so schlecht, wie es prognostiziert wurde. Doch davon wollen wir uns nicht die Laune verderben lassen.
Wir gehen erst einmal zum Haller. Auch wenn an der Eingangstür 'Kneipe und Restaurant ' steht, handelt es sich hier um ein traditionelles Gasthaus, mit kleiner Küche, in dem man in uriger Atmosphäre essen und trinken kann. Natürlich dürfen auch die Monschauer Senfschnitzel nicht fehlen.
Im Gasthaus Haller herrscht stets gute Stimmung, die im wesentlichen von den netten Wirtsleute Marco und Jacqueline getragen wird.
Marco hat immer eine witzige Bemerkung in der Hinterhand und hält somit alle Gäste in fröhlicher Laune. Wer essen möchte, sollte vorher reservieren, den der Haller ist sowohl bei den Einheimischen als auch bei den internationalen Besuchern sehr beliebt. Man kommt gerne wieder.
In der Markthalle und im Aukloster findet ein Indoor Weihnachtsmarkt statt, so dass man wenigstens Zeitweise dem Regen entfliehen kann.
Lustig finden wir die Idee einer Schneekugel, die in der Nähe der Touristen Information aufgebaut ist. In einer transparenten Kugel findet man sich in einer Miniaturwelt von Monschau wieder.
Besonders erwähnenswert ist die Historische Senfmühle. In einem Kellergewölbe werden viele verschiedene Senfsorten angeboten, darunter auch der weithin bekannte Monschauer Ur-Senf.
Das Kunst- und Kulturzentrum (KuK) fungiert als Adventskalender. Die Fenster sind mit Glasobjekten verkleidet, die vielfältige Muster aus der Textilindustrie darstellen.

Hallo Richard! Vielen Dank für den herrlichen Kommentar! Monschau ist wirklich ein sehr malerischer Ort! Wie ich jetzt erst gelesen habe war die Gemeinde 1962 Schauplatz der letzten Pocken Epidemie in Deutschland! Passt natürlich zur heutigen Zeit! Wenn man jetzt so liest wann welche Epidemie oder Pandemie war, kann man sich immer nur selbst gratulieren, dass man noch nicht erwischt wurde. Auch wir sind quasi in Quarantäne und verlassen das Haus nur in Notfällen! Allerdings können wir wenigstens in unseren Garten! Wir wünschen Euch, dass ihr heil durch diese düstere Zeit kommt und bleibt schön gesund! Liebe Grüße!
