  • I wasn't going to post this, but I had a change of heart. It's a link between the last video and the next one. It isn't perfect, but it is what it is. But just so you know, this isn't the main video I have planned for up next. Battle begins in the next one!
    Thanks for watching!

    This is one of the best tripod designs I've seen. I especially like the way they move and the how it looked at the tanks before destroying them in the previous episode. The forcefield around them reminds me of the 1953 movie.

      I'm actually a really big fan of the 53 movie. It's probably one of the biggest influences on this series of them all, even if it isn't very apparent.

      Thank you Red Dalek! Much appreciated.
      Funny, looking at your Avatar pic, it reminds me of something i toyed with making about 10 years ago. I had this whole idea of doing a Doctor Who thing.
      The concept was that the Daleks, as logical machines were losing because of their predictable nature. To counter this, they create a new Dalek called Chaotica. I modelled it all up, and it was bright red, and looked just like you picture.
      I'd totally forgotten about that!
      But it was around that time that I came to the conclusion that playing in other peoples sandpits brings a whole heap of trouble unless you are working for the license holders. It was too big of a project to then have BBC turn around and say "cease and desist!".
      But it would have been a great storyline. They can come to me to write it though if they like lol.
      Anyhoo, there you go! Thought I'd share that bit of random information.

      @waroftheworlds1934  Před rokem +2

      Thanks MT. Yeah, the force field seems to bother quite a few.
      The first time I ever experienced the story was the 1953 film when I was really young, so it's always been a part of my head cannon I suppose. But I do understand the reservations on it.
      However, I do want to make it a part of the story in ways that other ones haven't. It isn't an infallible shield, that's for certain. It'd get a bit boring if it was. But it is a problem to be solved.
      I'm trying to find a balance between a superior intelligence/advanced, a slight sense of hope for man, but ultimately, we know that it isn't man that beats them. They're just too powerful.
      The 53 film introduced them, I assume to counter the nuke aspect (which certainly wasn't in the book. The same goes for the 2005 film, even though that didn't go there.
      The Martians do need next level tech.
      Out of interest, can you tell me why it bothers you personally? Is it because it isn't from the book? Or is it that it seems too advanced? Or just too easy?
      Would love to know! I'd at least like to make it interesting to folks like yourself who aren't keen on the idea. I already have a few ideas, but some more insight into the objection would be nice to hear.
      Anyways, thank you for the lovely comment!
      Yes, Thunderchild will be interesting for sure. I'm looking forward to getting into that one. Have a great weekend!

      @mt508 Před rokem +2

      @@waroftheworlds1934 And thank you for your generous and detailed reply. Why does the force field bother me? Principally because it wasn't in the book but its absence had some great dramatic and emotional consequences. I grew up in South London, read the book when I was a kid and had relations in Surrey. I knew the towns, villages and landscape the story was set in. I can remember the growing sense of fear and unease whilst reading how the, Martian machines were striding across Surrey towards London and the elation when one was bought down by a lucky artillery shot from across the Thames. Then that hope was snatched away when they started using the Black Smoke. I can understand why the 1953 film introduced it ( there's so much you can do in 90 mins, and firepower had had evolved since Wells time), I just think it closed down some narrative options. But this is a detail which doesn't detract from your work.

      @@mt508 Ah right, that makes sense, thanks for explaining, appreciated. Also glad you'll enjoy what I'm doing non the less.
      I had a guy upset with me earlier for using Yorkshire as a landing spot. I understand the frustration if someone loves the book and wants to see that, but this whole project was born from a theatre telling of the radio play, and that had been rewritten to reflect the local landscape of the midlands (so it was already removed from the book twice before I even started the youtube version). So, I carried that on and expanded upon it.
      Also, this version is going to be much wider in scope. I love the story a great deal, so I want to have fun with it.
      My only problem right now is that the day job is so exhausting, that I'm struggling to have the energy to animate in the evenings. But that won't last too long, and normal service will resume soon, so do stay tuned, and I hope you enjoy it however it turns out! Cheers M T

    • @waroftheworlds1934
      @waroftheworlds1934  Před rokem +5

      Well, given that communications back then were slow, and possibly very hindered at some point, it might be that we hear rumours of events happening elsewhere for a while, but then switch to starting a new chapter...
      "What happened in America"...
      And then go right back to the start and see what happened elsewhere. Maybe also have parallel global events that are viewed from different viewpoints... revisit past videos or ideas and explore them in a different way, but that link it all together
      There are lots of potential ways of exploring it. :)

    absolutely stunning. Another wonderful video. Excellent work! You're very talented. Please, I beg you make an intense scene where the military try to stop the tripods and use all force. Or a scene where people run from the tripod as they get vaporized by the laser eyes. Just like 05.

    • @waroftheworlds1934
      @waroftheworlds1934  Před rokem +1

      Thanks Mr Space Man! Though I have to say, your desire to see absolute carnage and the burning of people as they run for their lives... deeply disturbing...
      Hehe, only kidding. Such awful things are coming! It'll be a build up to those kinds of scenes. Especially the all out war segments. Really, we're only in the very early stages. The military are cautiously testing... and I think they are terrified! But the public are starting to panic, and they have to be seen to be doing something.
      As things start to wind up and get more desperate, I imagine they'll throw everything they have at them.
      Also, not to mention that I might be showing battles across the globe in time. Right now it's very British, but I'd love to show what's happening in other places. I mean, think of the timing. Hitler is rising to power in Germany, and now his plans are thrown in the air as he now has other worlds to deal with! All kinds of interesting things might come out of that. :)
      Once it gets going, it'll be mayhem... and I don't intend to rush to the epic stuff. But know that it'll be coming... and unlike the 05 WOTWs... we'll get to see it, rather than look at the brow of a hill and see flashes of light.
      On that... I felt a bit short changed by Spielbergs WOTWs. They showed lot's of destruction early on, but they totally failed to show any actual war at all! For a film called "WAR OF THE WORLDS" I thought that was a bit of let down.
      Anyways, thanks again for the vote of confidence and support. I'm really enjoying making it!

      @MrGoji12345 Před rokem +1

      Very impressive. A global war would be great, as the tripods attack a few countries, or every country?.. Mostly Britian however.
      I totally agree with you. For a film called "War of the Worlds" it lacks to show scenes of the "World" fighting the tripods, and it lacks scenes of tripods. I would've loved to seen more action in 05.
      But hey, I am looking forward to seeing more excellent animations from you.

    No offense meant but I strongly prefer the UFO designs from the 1950s interpretation of War Of The Worlds over the tripods. Especially since the Martians' vessels from the same film (produced by the great George Pal) look so much more menacing in their manta ray-esque designs.

    • @waroftheworlds1934
      @waroftheworlds1934  Před 11 měsíci +1

      The 1950s version is kind of my favourite to be honest. I'd never want to take a shine away from that :) The design is iconic for a reason. It can be very hard to follow someone else when there has been so much great design over the years.
      The war of the worlds is unique in how many ways it's been interpreted. Each version has to live it's own life I think. If I can even get close to the impact of the other versions, I'll be happy enough :)

      In 1935, the idea of auto targeting wasn't even conceived, so they'd not expect it. Or thermal imaging... Even Radar (as we know it today) was only just starting to be trialled in 1934! It will take the greatest minds of the time to comprehend the technology of the Martians, but I doubt they'd understand it. That's what is so frightening about such an advanced invading force.
