About Diplomacy Is Not An Option:
Step into the well-worn shoes of our Hero: a long-suffering minor Lord, who is forced by circumstances to engage in battle with vastly superior enemy forces. Boxed in a by a quarrelsome king, duplicitous advisors, and enemies on all sides, there is no recourse to resolve this peacefully. It seems that Diplomacy Is Not an Option!
Experience warfare on an entirely new scale as over 10 THOUSAND enemy units assault your castle walls. Do you have what it takes to save the kingdom? Is the kingdom even worth saving?
The game has been designed with freedom as a core concept. The Endless Mode grants you full access to the tech tree and there are no limitations on how you approach the challenges that the procedurally generated maps provide. Go heavy on walls early, build large armies of cannon-fodder, or pursue the macro game of greedy growth and costly investments. Finding which style grants you the most success is up to you.The campaign will offer you challenges of combat and morality: it is a grim and unpleasant world. Few are worthy of your allegiance and even fewer will trust it. As in real life, stupidity and greed lie behind most problems, but here it is far too late to talk it through. You have no recourse to resolve this peacefully. At this stage: Diplomacy Is Not an Option!

Really happy to see this game becoming a longer series
Looks like the bots have arrived
I'm sorry I ruined your 69 likes
yes me to i love this series
Really happy to see a big red arrow and RCE continuing to be a click bait artist (artìste, for you fancy folk)
Yes
Matt: Stupid catapult why are you aggroing them?
Also Matt: Oh look the trebuchet is aggroing them too. I love it.

In fairness, the likelihood of retaliation greatly increases when you use a weapon that can take out a villager in one hit, versus one that can take out a village in one hit.
1. Always put towers behind walls (I have double walls in front)
2. Don't underestimate the power of an army
3. Put down like 4 Foresters and 2 Lumberjacks to make unlimited, fast accruing wood
4. I'd recommend putting more into catapults, as you can have 4 on one tower, causing more actual area damage than one trebuchet, and they fire faster
5. Make the most of the Market by trading said wood for other resources and gold
6. With any of the material collection places, put a storage as close as possible so the travel time is to a minimum. With the Lumberjack in specific, make sure to move them to the trees to reduce travel time as well (unless using the Forester)
7. Make sure to invest in farms ASAP as they become the only food source later on (I find the best layout is a 6X1, having them all parallel), same as with the other materials, make sure to put the granary's right next to the food producers
8. The AI for the enemy is very predictable in how they path as they only want to get to your main tower, so you can build your walls to funnel them making it easier for catapults and trebuchets
9. Keep in mind that you can also tell towers where to target, so you can make all the trebuchets fire on the same spot, making the most of the large radius, this also helps with stopping them from building up on the walls and doing heavy damage
10. Don't waste your crystals unless you REALLY need to because once you collect and use them all, you get no more (This is part of why an army is so important)
11. Make sure to also put Crossbowmen all along the walls as they really help with stragglers
12. Spearmen, Crossbowmen, Healers, and Hammerguys are worth the investment
13. Research is SUPER important for getting every last bit of efficiency from workers, walls, and troops
14. Place watchtowers as far as you can in all directions, utilizing the watchtowers is very useful for getting all the information possible from the land
15. Make sure to turn off auto repair before an attack(as well as close all gates, in the bottom right), because your builders will try to go all the way around through an open gate to try and repair, usually resulting in them dying
16. You can also change the location that the Barracks and the Engineer Workshop sends troops
That's just the stuff I can remember
Great information waiting for steam sale to buy it just too expensive for early access game
yeah, I would defenitely have a backup army for when they breach a wall
@@serhatbaki8446just can just torrent it
I've been catching up on old RCE videos. I don't have a computer, so I can't play the same games which means your comment doesnt help me at all at the moment. But I'm sure it took a really long time to make that comment so I figured I'd leave a like and give my respect.... 😊
RCE when he discovers Trebuchets:
to catapults: *I don't want to play with you anymore*
i'm surprised you didn't go for ballistas given how efficient the shape of their projectiles are.
True, but who doesn’t love a trebuchet
Why choose between shafts and balls when you can have both?
@@techstuff9198 That sounded gay. And I liked it.
You should build exterior walls that funnel all of the enemies into one path so that the trebs can all fire on one single point so that there are no gaps in the strikes and they will be absolutely obliterated.
@NCR Veteran Ranger sacrificial units to lure them?
Had the same idea. I think the AI mostly attack the pillars of the wall than the actual wall. They only attack walls when there are no other available units.
Way back during Age of Empires, I used to bug the agro of AI by funneling them into a maze like walls with towers like tower defense .
@@RondallaScores Same for Stronghold crusader, I always left a gap in the wall with my main defenders targeting it. A choke-point.
Would it work to build a false wall and just leave the door open?
@@wonniewarrior yes because the Ai will think that there's a way inside the castle because there's a gap so they all wait in line to get demolished
hey RCE!
trebuchets are bad dealing with close enemies, probably would be better to make a wall out of catapults, and then trebuchets behind them to make the damage on the horde
their min range don't seem that bad tbh, but I do still agree but more for the reason that having the expensive trebs in the front means you risk loosing them if the wave does managed to take down the tower they are on
For walls have infantry then for the small towers Ballista are better cause they have no minimum range while the catapults do have a minimum range. All big towers should contain Trebuchet because it gives them monstrous range and they have huge AOE and range. Honestly walls should always be in front of towers, just because towers are so valuable. But if you are building layered defenses as is logical it should be from outside in: walls+gate w/ crossbowman, small towers w/ ballista/catapult, large towers w/ trebuchet, lookout tower w/ crossbowman. Then have anything behind that a large tower with trebuchet because they are the only ones with the range to be properly effective but honestly you really shouldn't need it with this setup on the maxed out walls. they can pretty effectively kill anything. Your game is more likely to crash than you are to have a breakthrough. They need to make tougher enemies with more monstrous power, have dragons or some sort of flying unit, ranged enemies, and definitely more siege units. You definitely shouldn't have lower walls behind taller ones like Matt does.
u just need more trebs that can target the ones the other trebs can't target
Better to place a wall in front of the catapults/trebuchets, since both are unable to hit targets within close range. The wall of massive towers he built was a horrible idea tbh.
RCE: "There's just balls for days" .... In this moment RCE knew he messed up 😂
Never before have I seen engineers mow down so many architects. Motorway Matt is truly the Chosen Engineer.
If you're double walling, put the wood wall on the outside. As its lower, missile troops on the stone walls behind can fire over them. If the wood wall is behind the stone wall, the stone wall will obstruct the archer fire etc.
Love these British historical re-enactments!

@@virbilaisa8899 i talk to ugly people
I don't understand why the developers don't apply late game units: for example, at the point you can make trebuchets, the enemy appears with mantlets, wich were a medieval way for of sieging using a small portable wall capable of resisting direct fire. For example, instead of putting 2000 simple infantry like in the last wave that RCE faced, a 1/10 of those numbers, but in mantlets. 200 mantlets that would be heavily resistant to catapult/trebuchet fire, forcing the player to invest more in ballistas, crossbowman or melee units. Also cavalry, etc.
And for a last thing some items that can be looted after the waves like iron, stone or wood because that way you are "looting" the remains of that raid. Well, ideas I have
This is a super early access game, I am sure balance and content changes like what you suggested (which i fully agree with) will come in due time :)
Because he's playing in easy mode. The hardest mode send you heavy units (non-affected by trebuchet/catapult hits) from the 3rd attack then they attack with massive catapults and ballistas next rounds, in addition to light and heavy infantry.
I bought this game because of you ❤. I wish I could be hearing your commentary while playing 😂. Best CZcams Gaming channel ever, because it's built on the Strongest Shape by Engineers.
@@virbilaisa8899 WHAT????????
@@minhe2236 what what? Never saw a bot before? This is no real person.
you need archers for more close in dps from walls i think
I think its high time you created a second set of walls so you can fit even more trebuchets out there and have that extra layer of protection so you can last into even further. Quadruple digits; here we come!
Love this game... although bigger (infinite) map would be nice. Love this series as well :)
They don't care. Removing dislikes is more important to them
@@Grymm6698 yup its clearly more important, smot CZcams
Matt you know if you leave your back door wide open, someone's going to try and penetrate your defenses from there.
With the strongest shape? 😅
It's so true, so true...
RCE: We're surviving
Also RCE: Slowly running out of stone.
One of my favorite series, engineering, war, and city building truly a CZcams marvel ( please keep the series going).
3:00 wait. You call yourself an engineer and don't know trebuchets?! Is that what I'm meant to believe?!
Trebuchets are to catapults what engineers are to architects!
I don't know if this works here but way back in Age of Mythology, I used to build maze /tunnels using walls to funnel them down in to an open gate. With a second layer of walls so that when they reach a collection point, they're easier to kill. Plus when they are travelling the maze, the archers and towers are already killing them down since they are sort of traveling into a tower defense walls
i love how you start every video with hello fellow engineer. as a failing engineering student i feel very welcome
Please play more of this! I love watching your videos at my eNgInEeRINg job, it makes for great background entertainment. Keep it up!!
I'm a architecture student watching this makes me emotional
I can see using the horseman as a hit and run element to get crystals and such, you could agro a village and take them out with trebuchets
Hello RCE
A good tip: in early waves in the game you can use the spider man to aggro the waves like funneling them because they have decent speed to outrun the angry pitchfork people and let the catapult or the archers attack them(like those enemy catapults targeting the workers instead of going onto your walls)
I hope the devs see this comment:
Need to add "Poo-nami" ability. It hits like plague, decreases attack and defense by 1 but also does 1 damage to health per tick... So you could use the ability on the horde from a distance or even before any aggro is drawn... Then either they attack and get merc'd by trebs, or they stand around until they drop dead. Only problem will be that the area has contamination that can hurt your own ppl, so maybe also a new CDC unit in hazmat so it has to be sent to clean the disease away, then loot can be gathered safely.
Every king in the world :- We need a huge army .
RCE :- Nope , just a bunch of trebuchets and a damn big wave of walls .
"I wanna see what it looks like it when it's upgraded"
Sure sounds like something an Architect would say 😬
"TODAY WE ATTACK MEN CHARGE!!!"
*19 meteors fall from the heavens*
It appears as though the enemy has to walk around trees... could you plant trees just outside your walls?
That lone spiderman running towards the gate with explosions in the background though.
Loving this series!
Job well done sir and I'm strangely glad the game is not just crashing for me at the later stage - hope they can fix that some day.
23:26 holy moly so many enemy soldiers!!
I'm neither a gamer nor an engineer, but I am now a Patreon!
You make the funniest, most wonderful gaming videos on CZcams. I love the Devil May Care Let's Try This and See What Happens approach. There are already so many minmaxers and people trying for optimal play streaming games. You're just having fun. Please don't ever change!
Thanks Derek, appreciate the kind words and support!
12:01 you should have called him Gordon Treeman. Lol
Been addicted to this game since your first vid. I hope this game gets some attention and resources to make it better
Diplomacy is the closest thing to engineering
Diplomacy = architect
No diplomacy = engineer
Absolutely adore this game. Cannot wait for more updates and content for it
We are glad that you like our game 🤩 Update coming out soon 😉
I love waking up to your videos.
I wanna see a zigzag wall of massive towers! I'd wanna see it 3 towers thick but then it would probably be unreachable like the houses. But lso wanna see how much space you would need to keep in between for the trebuchets to be able to get on the middle ones.
I think horse man run buys could buy you time and help whittle down the enemy, it could also pull them into the range of your trebuchets
You can add a single layer of wall around your towers without affecting your ability to hit units right up against it.
Build a another layer of wall around the edge and a hole in each wall, as a bottle neck, so the trebuchets can be even more effective
a couple of ballistats would probably be economical and good for enemies that are closer to the walls
23:37 reminded my of the final battle in infinity war along with the astral ray being thor's bifrost 😃
This game is so neat, I would love to see you play Kingdoms and Castles next!
Love these episodes and enjoy seeing this game, even after this castle it would be cool if you start again and try and make it farther
Love your vids keep it up 👍
This series is awesome
Matt I think if you were to put crossbowmen along all of your walls that would help defend close quarters. And it might help to have a full second layer of stone walls surrounding the first walls you built with crossbowmen or archers and have wooden walls in front of those to slow down enemy waves that are incoming. Just a little bit of strategy that may help. Plus you’d be able to expand some more and maybe find more crystals along the way
man. those walls could really use a good old fashioned minigun or two to make perfect hamburger out of all those enemies
I would really love to see another episode of this game
I love this series
I would love this game to multiplayer where you can go and capture other cities and build multiple castles.
That's just age of empires right? (age of empires 2 (de) is the best one imo).
@@donhooplah Well Technically yeah.
Rce making a military power full on trebuchet, more trebuchet than the regular soldier
I respect the decision
I had never heard the term "getting mullered" so many times before this video. Ive heard it before but always thought I was just hearing it wrong and they were saying "getting murdered." After hearing it 750 times in this video I had to google it cuz I had no idea what that was. lol
I dunno why but a I burst out laughing when I hear him say "Cheers, YOU PRICKS"
I absolutely love trebuchets. They have always been my favorite. Ever since I was very young I have always loved the trebuchets. So yes. They are superior
Somebody give the trebuchets a raise
i love that you can use trebuchets as a defense
"That's a sea of people! Probably should close the gate"
Awesome defense!
Nice work 😎👍🏻
"There just balls for days." -RCE 2022 write that one in the books
at about 21:04, was a reenactment of one of the Narnia movies where the minotaur held the gates just to die. respect tp that Lil spiderman
I’m even tempted to get this game for myself now!
26:18 Hate it when the game send so much that it freeze. I just got that too, it seem the game can't handle the amount of troop which is barely anything.
If anyone pauses at 9:36, the cliff on the right side looks like an unimpressed crab or something haha

Always enjoying the Grandia2 soundtrack in the background 😊
What a game. Sad though it cannot handle the masses of enemies and all of the trebuchets.
Hi omg I love the vids btw you inspired me to become a civil engineer when I get older love the content when is the next city skyline video coming out
I love your videos!
Finally! Good 3D Stronghold part!
I would love to see you playing Castle Story! You can build bridges!!!
I love this Game pls keep playing this
as a unity Developer I'm very sure that the developers used unity Dots to handle the huge numbers of enemies

I love this game soo much
Balls for days... I see new merch coming
Good video 👍
I hadn't played an RTS in years and then I started playing this about a week ago and holy hell I am awful at it
You should look into a game called "Going Medieval" I had a great time playing it and it seems like it would be your style. Plenty of engineering feats to be accomplished there.
MOAR!!!!
I wonder if the game developers will launch a MAC version as well... it looks quite fun!
Placing catapults or trebuchets on the edge of walls is just.. waste of space. Build another towers behind the walls and put them there. Fill walls and towers there with crossbowmen 🙂Trebuchet or catapult.. if you did not see it yet, they throw NPC to the air but do minimum dmg to them.
But in the end.. strongest defense is... hammer guy.. literally dwarfs that demolish everything.. living wall..20 of them can clear whole wave alone if they have 3-5 healers behind.
This title reminds me so much to Let's Game It Out xD
Trebuchet of mass destruction!!!
Yes, I love this game I don't have time to play it myself but I always enjoy watching you play it 😁
Really love this game, im playing this too !
