What is YOUR favorite 1970s band?
SLADE
The Mighty Led Zeppelin 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😎😎😎😎
Ramones
Genesis
Deep Purple
As a teenager in the 70s most of these bands made me realize the difference between popularity and quality.
Badfinger. If you're a fan, you know.
Amen
YESS! So sad, how they were screwed so badly by their Manager!
Sweet...Fox on the Run, Ballroom Blitz, Action, Love is like Oxygen, etc.... I would LOVE to see back!!!!!
I’m with you !!!!
staggered that someone managed to say ABBA's names correctly. Thank you
No question about it, the 70s was THE decade for music.
My father may disagree with you on that, seeing as he grew up with Glenn Miller, the Dorsey brothers, Cab Callaway, Gene Krupa, Ben Polock, Jolson, Sinatra....... you get the hint😊😊😊
I strongly believe many millions want Led Zeppelin back. Imagine 20 million people applying for their tickets for a venue of just 20,000 entering them in the Guinness Book of World Records as the biggest selling concert artists of all time, beating even The Beatles.
That is a fact. And I've heard they surpassed the Beatles in LP sales also. I'd like to find out what the true world sales are for a number of bands from that day.

I’m apparently one of the very few people who just don’t care for Led Zeppelin. I love Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, but don’t like Robert at all. I think it goes back to a book I read that attributed 80% of their songs being rip-offs of old American Blues legends. They lost numerous lawsuits to back up that claim. I get that people are influenced by many others, and actually love and appreciate that. But to blatantly steal licks, rhythms, and entire songs is too much for me to get over.
Maybe it’s an unfair take, but it always stuck with me. I like a few of their songs, but overall I could just live without them. We all have different tastes, and I’m a massive Rocker, but think they completely overrated. No ill-intent to you my friend, just explaining my take. Kindest regards.
Six songs is very far from 80%. And they were only successfully sued for three.
And Stairway to Heaven was not one of the ones the plaintiff was successful at.
The only rythym that could come close to your description would be Bring It On Home. Yes, I don't really care for Robert either, his penchant for 'borrowing' blues lyrics is what earned them that grief. But the Power Trio of Page, Bonham, & Jones is the best there was/is. And that, my friend is what I was talking about. And my DJ friend told me that they have indeed surpassed the Beatles in sales, a long time ago. He also said that of the streaming services, LZ stays about 48 million streams while the Beatles have dropped to a little over 11 million. I don't bear any ill will either.

@@williamhiles7404 I totally see your point, my friend. At times, I even go against that old gut feeling of mine because the Music is just too good. My late Dad was a huge music buff as I am. I have over 380 Albums, mostly from the 70s, with plenty of 60s and some early 80s. He held the same feeling and it was actually his book I read, it was rather old, so maybe it was from the early 70s regarding their early work. I can’t recall nor find it, but the stats stayed with me thru the years. I do recall hearing the into to Taurus by the band Spirit and truly thought it was Stairway to Heaven for a minute. So, I’m sure that clinched it for me.
As I stated, everyone is inspired by something or someone else, that’s just music. Maybe its time I grew up and did a deeper dive as I couldn’t really quantify my very old mentality today (I did turn 57 Tuesday, lol). I was just explaining the reason I could never hold them in high regards.
Thanks for the input, clarifications, and non-argumentative conversation. Kindest Regards…
Mamas and Papas
Class of 77, perfect timing. Oh I miss the 70's. What a party, if you weren't there ,,, too bad.
What about Steely Dan, Boston, America? And many more.
Sadly some might think those are 'so and so ' band..
Aeorsmith
Need me some 70's Foghat
its just a youtuber, would take too much research to name all the great bands then. i think i can do 100 easily.
During the intro the video was rambling on about funk bands while showing pictures of the Doors and other classic rock bands. I didn't realize the genre shift occurred...
I saw the carpenters at the beginning
@@kimberley1449 Yeah, a very funky duo...
Thank you for remembering Syd. Still shining after all these years! 🥰
Love that crazy diamond!
Led Zeppelin will never die.
Zep was a 60s band that survived into the 70s.
Easy, who I want back. “YES”
With Jon Anderson
The Who
The only guitarist to win Guitar World Magazine’s best guitarist pole five years running, 1976-1980, Steve Howe!
In 1981 GW mag opened their HOF and inducted Howe, other wise he most probably won a sixth!!
The best decade of music ever
Great list 2 left out thou supertramp steely dan.
Those two were much better any day than Abba🤮
Steely Dan's a joke. Lots of their songs are trash. Even George Carlin hates them.😅
Led Zeppelin forever ❤️🎶❤️
Who made this list didn't see Grand Funk Railroad. How could you leave them out!
Mark, Don and Mel!😊
I was a teenager in the 70’s and my first concert was Led Zeppelin at Madison Square Garden.
I my be old but I saw all the cool bands
Sweet
Yes the sweet 🎉
Brian Connelly . R.i.P. great band.
THE LEGENDARY "QUEEN"
I badly want "The doors" with Jim to return.Sadly its not possible ❤❤❤
Original DOOBIE BROTHERS rock and roll with no Michael Mcdonald!! Next...question.
MM was not a good move.
Why you didnt include bands like Chicago,BTO,Steely Dan?
Jefferson Airplane/Starship, Blue Oyster Cult, my first laser show, Heart, etc
Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, ABBA, Fleetwood Mac, The Bee Gees, CCR, The Doors, The Ramones, The Clash…so many greats that we miss so much in today’s world of generic pop! 😢 Jim Morrison and Karen Carpenter….lost so damned soon. 😢
After catching a glimpse of the Grammys last weekend, we need a resurgence of 70's and 80's energy, because what I'm seeing coming from SZA, Taylor Swift and others, is absolute, pure garbage. Sorry Gen Z and Millennials, but it's trash.
What about the doors have you forgot about them Jim morrison was a genius
I love all of the music of the people that have been montioned ,I have read from all the people on this page, but I also love some others as well & miss them so much.first off people like the carpenters, even though Karen Carpenter is dead the music is not played anymore but could at least. Those here I miss Boston,America, Different type of music but Abba & so many more. Don't find music like any of what I mentioned or anyone else on this page anymore & the world needs this good music back
wow. there are so many other bands I would have on my list than about half of what you have.
Queen??
You forgot all about Emerson Lake and Palmer
GRAND FUNK RAILROAD
Please come back and save Rock and Roll!
Everyone has different tastes & favorites so there’s no way these selections are gonna make everyone happy. Music is about as diverse as you can get! 😊
Led Zeppelin,The Beatles and The Rolling Stones are the best bands ever.Their
Influence and Music will last forever.I saw the Rolling Stones on
their 50th Anniversary in 2012 in Hyde Park,London.
I ask myself, how many Honorary Doctorates they were given.❤️.
Led zeppelin!!!
Heart is underappreciated! They outperformed LZ at Kennedy CenterHonors.
I am a huge Heart fan!!! Loved them from first listen in 1976.
Nice of you to completely ignore Joe Walsh!
And Don Felder.
I wonder how many people on here were fortunate enough to see any of these bands in their original configuration. Most people have only seen the "Karaoke" versions or never had the chance to see them at all. The original groups were amazing to see and hear. Most were not worth the money to see once the original lineup was altered.
Tickets were $5.50-7.50 to see Zeppelin, or Aerosmith,Black Sabbath, Bruce Springsteen was $5.50 at Berkeley community theater. Stevie Ray Vaughan played at the Keystone in Berkeley for one night only. Thats back when you could rest your arms on the stage and not act like a fool. You saw Robin Trower for 5.00 bucks at Winterland. Montrose when Sammy Hagar was the lead vocalist. Peter Frampton recorded Frampton comes alive at Winterland. I was 14? Or 15 back then.
It was a great time to be a kid and have the abilities to get yourself from the Oakland hills to San Francisco and back home safely. You could always work for concert money and some pot. Sometimes a parent would drop us off and pick us up at 11:30. Thats how things worked in the 70's. You could get from the Oakland hills to Japan town ( That's where Winterland was) in San Francisco in 20 minutes. Now, we don't even look at San Francisco its such a disgusting mess. I'm happy I lived when I did and saw what I saw. All you younger people keep playing and listening to the old stuff. Its the best. Kanye, or Kiddy wok doesn't count as music.
Seen the original Zeplin. Sabbath. Free . Uriah Heep .Tull. Hoople. Seen the Eagles but not original.
I was born in 1953. I grew up with Elvis, Beatles, Cream, Who, Rolling Stones, Doors, Kinks, Beach Boys, Animals, Jeff Beck, all of the 60's bands in UK and US. ABB, AC/DC with Bon Scot, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Johnny Winter , Edgar Winter, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, CSNY, Rush from the very beginning, Traffic, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, The Tubes, Pat Travers, Yes, ELP, Aerosmith, Journey, and Frank Zappa. I heard them all and saw most of them live. Then there was the 1980's with all of the hair metal bands. What an awesome decade starting off with the Police and Van Halen. Need I keep typing? Some great New Wave bands too - Men At Work, Duran Duran, etc. The only band I never got to see that I wanted to see was Jimi Hendrix and Duane Allman. Why did Jimi and Duane have to die.
@golfhound No, you don't have to keep typing! I was born in 58. We used to live at Winterland in San Francisco growing up. I was 14 when our parents dropped us off there. Back then, it was no big deal. Then, there was the Berkeley community theater, the Oakland Coliseum, Keystone Berkeley, where my friends played in the 80s. SRV played there. Joe Perry played there. John Mayall with Mick Taylor from the Stones played there. We saw CSN, Manassas. ZZ Top was an opening act back then for Steve Miller. Montrose with Sammy Hagar. There was another outdoor theater in Berkeley that was very cool.
Christ, we saw Aerosmith, Link Ray, AL Demeola, Edgar Winter, and Robin Trower. Skinnnnnnerd. Three times before they died. Then the mighty Van Halen in the Oakland Coliseum. Eric Clapton, the slow hand tour. Yep! I could go on and on. Hell, I took my girlfriend to see Olivia Newton John. A great time to be alive.
For my first *KISS* Show I'd paid 2,50 $ (09/1974), finally 119.50 € in Munich (17.05.2023) but gthat *Surreal* (Without Original Spaceman *Ace Frehley* or 'Catman' *Peter Criss* it wasn't *KISS* 😮)
1999 I saw the Originals and *that* was the Best ever...
I take great exception to the fact that the Kinks were not included instead of the Clash
Kinks were a 60s band.
Led Zeppelin forever ❤❤
i was only a kid in the 70's but 13 bands we'd like to have back?!?!? i can think of about 613.
without going into detail about it bottom line no mtv, no music videos back then. you couldn't have a cool little mini movie to accompany the song. yer music truly had to stand on its own and it still shows to this day. and no matter how much one mite love taylor swift i think very few would argue that there's a reason why music in the past is generally seen as just plain BETTER.
Music taste today would not appreciate this music and would be ignored by mainstream music and media. The best compliment this music can have is it has stood up to the test of time. Much of the music of since early 90’s is forgotten and it should be. Led Zeppelin hasn’t put anything out since Coda and that was just unreleased music, but very few don’t appreciate their music over 40 years later and it continues to sell.
Pink Floyd's wish you were here-One of their best albums welcome to the machine is one. Of their best songs
How can you misprounce Glenn Frey?
Easy he calls ABBA ARBA
Ich bin ein Fan von Led Zeppelin. Coole Musik.
.
Zep is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
70s rule👍👍
YOU FORGOT "THE WHO" THEY SHOULD BE BACK!
They're another 60s band still hanging on in the 21st century despite the passing of their bassist (Jon Entwistle) and the fastest drummer ever (Keith Moon).
All, 🌎-Legendary Legends!! Forever ⏱️Less..🎶🎼🎵.. Thanks for sharing...🌄...
I believe that led Zeppelin was one of the greatest bands of all time and I have all of their albums. However when it comes to the eagles, you completely failed to mention Joe Walsh. In my opinion, he's the one that really turned the whole thing around and that was when The eagles we're at their most popular!
How can you mention The Eagles without mentioning Don Felder.
Or Joe Walsh?
Led Zeppelin 👍 Boston, Deep Purple, The Troggs and so many more even the one hit wonder bands
Stop saying Fray it is pronounced like Fry. Fry not Fray.
Thank you!!!
Supertramp. Creedence Waterrevival . Nazareth. Deep Purple . Bad Company....Hi 👋 from Morocco.
I couldn't believe Bob Welch is not even mentioned in the fleet wood mac part, he may not stayed long in the band but he left a mark in the music industry with his hit song 'Sentimental Lady'
11:40 am. I liked Ebony Eyes.
Whatta' bout the Steve Miller band and Jetro Tull
Wilson Picket, Jeff Beck ,and of course The Yardbirds!!!!
All 60s artists.
Great vid! One could consider adding the following bands: Allman brothers (US), Yes (UK), Skyhooks (AUS), Focus (NL), Grand Funk (US), 10cc (UK) and many more of course. Cheers!
Most came out in the 60s. 'Carpenters' were not a band. Neither was ABBA. As far as which bands 'we' want back, there are a slew of my favorites that arent listed (Beatles, Byrds, Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield, B.T.O.,
Kinks, Poco, Steeleye Span, Thin Lizzy and The Who for starters).
What do you mean The Carpenters and Abba aren't bands?
Excellent selections , which click with my favorites !
@@1024laf 'Carpenters' (there was no 'The') were a duo, with supporting musicians, ABBA was a vocal quartet, same setup...you wouldn't have either perform or record without others, unlike my MIAs.
@@thomasrobinson182 Cannot wholeheartedly agree with you, but do respect your opinion of it. And "The"
is just a word, whether the band refers to themselves as such is all in good but I and others I am sure, will still call them The Carpenters, The Beatles, The Eagles, The Beach Boys, The Bee Gees, etc; etc; the word neither diminishes nor insults their greatness.
@@1024laf Karen and Richard stated their choice for the name in interviews. FYI
Apparently, Skynyrd has one more album in progress with the current lineup.
May l add groups l thought neglected or simply passby like Queen,Santana,CSN&Y,Simon&Garfunkel😉🎶🎼,👍!!!
My in-laws' best friends lived around the corner of the Carpenters.
I was a little kid when Karen died . Broke my heart .
All the Rock bands , no question about it .
Neil Young, too..
Pink Floyd sold 250 million albums
70's were the BEST! Black Sabbath was the best!
...iiI 🐸🦘LOVED THE MUSIC 🎵🎶🎸OF THE 70;S...❓❓❓...1975....🤩🎤🎷...ROCK ON...
Need to do a better job editing the photo's, especially at 23:23 when you show Mick Jones of Foreigner instead of Mick Jones of The Clash.
No Three Dog Night and Grand Funk? 🤔
First off: Yes! I want the Ramones back.
I also want want want Led Zeppelin back - the best rock band ever.
Pink Floyd made one of the best albums of all time with Dark Side of the Moon.
CCR was a band I really like went I was just a kid and I bought their album Green River and I played and played it. It was a really good album.
I loved the Eagles and went to see them in concert as a teen. Great band but, dang they were so boring live. all they did was just stand and play. No interaction. No talk to the audience. No. movement. But, they still made great music.
If I had to choose one bandy that I want back the most: Led Zeppelin.
Oh, and They can keep then Carpenters and Bee Gees. Do not miss them at all.
sorry for the few typos. I try to correct but, I'm losing light and was too lazy to turn on the lights while typing this.
Don't worry about the carpenters unless you can dig up a grave.
@macca520 If you want to include the Carpenters the BeeGees And ABBA well I still say that the Moody Blues were alot better!!!!!.
I got to see creedence Clearwater revival at their very first public concert appearance. They were the musical act that opened the new Cal expo in Sacramento. I believe it was in 1968 or 69 and it was great fun to watch them play in person
I love pink Floyd ❤️
I hate Pink Floyd. They're lullabies for stoners.
@@user-qb1sm3rk9r i didn't ask for your opinion 😂😂
@@user-qb1sm3rk9r And the president of the Dunning-Kruger Club is heard from...
You should see the sweatshirt I just got of them. Featuring Dark Side of the Moon.
Zeppelin was the biggest band of the 70's and it was not close NOBODY WAS CLOSE TO THEIR POPULARITY
Agree!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone heard of Black Sabbath???
There was a band named KISS that was the most popular band in the world from 1975-1980. It was all downhill for Led Zeppelin after they made Zeppelin IV.
@@buccy55 Lmmfao.. NOPE Zep were still the biggest band throughout 77 .FACT
They were so popular that they fired Grand Funk Railroad for starting shows for them. That was a big wake up call!
One of the current members of Lynyrd Skynyrd is actually an original member--guitarist Ricky Medlocke. Medlocke was an original member, but left the band before they signed their first record deal.
Wings.
Your ' video provides both a visual and emotional odyssey, immersing us in the enchantment of 1960s Hollywood while shedding light on the compelling and inspiring journeys of its stars in the modern world.
Steppenwolf, Bad company, its a beautiful day, credence Clearwater revival, BTO, Rare Earth, Foghat, Golden Earring, Blue Oyster Cult, Uriah Heep, The Guess Who, Hollies, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Sugarloaf….
Unnecessary commas, are fun!
The KINKS are not mentioned.
I have ALL of these bands in my music collection! (Am I dating myself now?!?!)
RUSH!!!!!!!
The Beatles I want them back.. even if their sons or daughters gather or group for the Beatles..
I'm really curious as to how many of the people replying here were even alive in the 70's or old enough to appreciate what they were hearing. I'm 66 and grew up listening to pretty much all the bands listed here. They all hold a special place for me, for the memories they rekindle of simpler times. Arguing now who's more deserving or which ones actually constitute a band (c'mon, really?) is just plain stupid.
where is Rod Stewart? Cream, Jimi, Carol King, Janis, Steppenwolf, Deep Purple, Chamber Brothers, Temps, Who, Elton. Billie Joel , Mountain, Booker t, Joe Tex, and to many more.
Abba, don't think so.(but to each his own)
Wishbone Ash and Uriah Heep?
Agree
Yes
i don't see deep purple
they are still active
You are correct, but they're music doesn't want have the same punch to it that in rock and Machine Head have. @@rockerjim8045
Alice Cooper band,,,Grand Funk,,,,Procol Harum...
Buffalo Springfield, Jefferson Airplane
Both 60s bands.
Alot ppl at 70's, 80's, 90's wanna go into the future, but nowdays wanna go into the past?
What's going on with this ppl??
You have blessing to live at the past and the future and denied it??

Did u know bee gees are from Australia

You showed a picture of Leon Wilkeson and called him Larry Junstrom. LYNYRD SKYNYRD.
No one is better or ever will be better than led Zeppelin as number one
In 1960 was the Beatles and the rolling stones later came motown ok and the late sixties jimmy hendrix clearance Clearwater ok rare earth the Woodstock Santana etc in the early 70 led zeppelin etc .

If your talking influential bands wheres Alice Cooper and Kiss.
