my right ear loved this video
😂 "Did my left earbud just die???"
Nah just shitty audio
THANK YOU !! xD
Nice, thank you. I think some closeups on where to lube would be really helpful, at least for me.
Thanks John. I'll remember that for next time!
Yeah I can see from a mile away looks like your pointing at the same part
Yeah that would really help!
Your Q-Tip used to spread the oil on the slide was looking very dirty.
Looks like the gun wasn’t clean.
This was the video I needed, great job and I have joined your channel. Thanks dude!
I use a safeykleen tank with a stiff bristle brush for the carbon & old lubes. For the bore, depending on the type and severity of fouling I'll use sweets or barns on copper then finish with #9 then oil...for lead fouling, nothing works better than brass screen
I was unaware MGW has a CZcams page. Very good. (yes, I subscribed).
God Bless you, and God Bless America 🇺🇸.
We appreciate that Scott!
Nice video. Very informative. Ironically I can't find the Hoppes gun medic action cleaner spray shown in your video. I can't find it from the link in your description or anywhere online.
Thanks! Bright lighting and clear explanation
Very educational. Thank you.
Just bought a ruger p89, it's built like a tank, but all it needed is a good cleaning and a new grip
Hi need some advice, while cleaning and lubricating my XD a drop of oil went inside the firing pin retainer pin while oiling the slide is that bad ? It was a hole on too of the slide ahead of the rear sight and unconsciously i just added a drop into it, kindly advise if something needs to be done or should I just let it be.
What is best to use on aggressive texture on grips to clean it like the taurus g2c it has so much dirt and skin stuck and nothing I've used so far will clean it off
your voice is in the right channel only
Lubing Berettas are hard like on my 92a1. The barrel and the front bottom of the slide is mostly exposed
I usually just lube the rails and lightly wipe down the barrel.
Great video and great information
Can you make an in depth video on a cleaning a 30-06 bolt action rifle? Preferably with close ups. Thank You
So you don't use bore brushes or patches?
Can't speak for them. I tend to go with the boresnake and keep my life simple. I find that 9 out of 10 times she does the job on the barrel with the first punch. I use patches if I need to really give the weapon a solid cleaning and reach into the small spots. Most of the time, if I am cleaning after just a few mags for example, I use a toothbrush and q-tips then a rag. Hoppes 9 for the parts and Lucas Gun Oil for the rails and friction points.
Enjoyed watching the video but I dont do some of this personally. Even with the gun/guns that arent carry. I keep them more tip-top. Cant imagine putting 1000 or more rounds through a carry gun without cleaning, unless it was at one shooting, lol. My guns run cleaner than this but I do spend more time cleaning and lubing.
I think it heavily depends on the gun also. Been carrying for a long time and never had an issue with cleaning my Glock or S&W every few range trips, but just got a cheaper 9mm Stoger and it started jamming pretty bad after only the 2nd trip to the range. Maybe 200 rounds in. Definitely cleaning that after each trip to the range. The jams were extremely difficult to clear also. Had to drop the mag every time.
Would’ve liked an up close look at where to lube but still glad I watched this for tips
Can you clean and lube all with one type of CLP?
So my dunk and drain method of changing the oil in my pistol is not a good idea?
So you put the bore cleaner in the barrel and then? I didn’t see you run a patch or brush thru the barrel.
Usually I let the cleaner sit for awhile then run a brush, followed up by a patch!
Do not put oil in the firing pin/striker channel. Glock manual says rails, barrel lug, hood and trigger bar. Oiling the striker channel can cause light primer strikes and gunk it up.
If you regularly clean and oil, you can add one small drop to the spring.
@@midwestgunworksthen you are saying that we should take apart the slide regularly in order to clean the striker and striker channel area? Correct?
No lubricant in striker channel. Run it dry. Check your striker frequently. Empty the gun of ammunition, rack the slide and pull the trigger. Now take the gun and shake it up by your ear. Hear the little clink, clink, clink? Your striker is moving freely as it should. That's all I have to say about that !
@@midwestgunworksWhat would the benefit of that be considering basically every striker fired gun specifically tells you not to do so in the manual? Genuine question.
Took a Glock to gunsmith to get excess oil out of firing pin ended up paying 125$ for dude to drench it with more oil in the pin and everywhere it shouldn’t be was so sloppy and came back smelling like smoke it was cleaner before haha
I bought a couple of children's toothbrushes and they work like a charm. Tiny with soft nylon
Good tip!!
Do you oil the bore
My LC9 has developed some minor rust while in zippered pouch. Kept in house @about 75F. Has some light rust on surface, pin holes, barrel, & bottom edges of mag.
This is my 1st weapon. Could you recommend how to clean &/or make vid showing how to do so? Thanx!
DUDE, Glock specifically says DO NOT PLACE ANY LUBE whatsoever in the striker assembly!!! NONE, ZERO, ZILTCH!!! Also, lubing the extractor is a bad idea on a Glock too. Go to the factory in Smyrna and they will tell you right there that what you’re doing in this video is a “no-go.”
He doesn’t seem to hurt anything
@@twinsnails4983 He is. By lubing the striker channel, it quickly attracts and clogs with dirt, debris and residue. The striker then fails to move when the trigger is pulled. Again, Glock explains all this and their manual says “don’t do it.”
@@Meena-lp I could Google it for you, but so can you.
@@Meena-lp Read the manual.
Guns like lube, he stated he periodically cleans the striker channel. Glock states this as they know most people don’t clean the striker channel. They absolutely prefer for you to wear your gun out so they can sell you a new one with front serrations. Lube your guns…
It would be a problem with the gun if small cotton fibers from the cotton swabs or cotton pads get stuck inside the gun parts ?
Does anyone know if there is a need to lube the top of the magazine where the top bullet slides out?
No ive never done that. Lubing the magazine or ammo can cause can cause puddling.in the bottom.of the mag, can affect bullet trajectory, and lube on the primer may cause the firing pin to have a failure. Just oil the slide parts, gas block, frame areas where you see any springs or moving parts, and inside/outside barrel.
The problem with using oil in all of those places is it will migrate if left in one orientation for an extended period of time (like a holster on your waist). That’s why I prefer spreading a very light film of grease on some of those friction points like barrel and rails and put a dab of oil on others
Is the action cleaner called something else now? I can’t find it on the site.
Looked like carb & throttle cleaner to me.
cant i spray 92% alcohol on the frame because it also dry's quickly and gets all the stuff out
Did you really lube the striker?
i was under the impression you didn't want to spray anything in the direction of the firing pin channel. Won't it gum up the firing pin?
I think you’re right especially for glock
Yes. Over living in general is the real culprit when talking about failure rate of any specific weapon system.
Not bad. How about a complete disassembly and reassembly of a shot gun, S&W Shield .45, and my favorite, S&W .38 model 10-6. That would be super to do. Semper Fi, OUT.
Can you spray the hoppes gun medic in the trigger action
Yes. It won't hurt. It dries out pretty quickly.
@@midwestgunworks thanks
24 years ago while in the police academy, my firearms instructor and local Sheriff’s armorer, taught us to use exactly 5 drops of oil on the Glock 19. Each drop was put on our finger and smeared on the lube points. Then, each point was wiped with a patch to remove the oil. As a novice, I figured this was far too little oil and decided to lube it the way I felt appropriate. Shortly thereafter, I began having failures which were directly the result of my over oiling. My instructor made short work of explaining my mistakes to me in front of the other cadets! He’s likely dead now but to this day, my issued Glock gets lubed the exact way he showed us back in 2000. Any failures I get now are due to cheap range ammo. Lesson: use much less than you think you need on a Glock.
Do I need to clean the barrel on my brand new hand gun before I shoot it I really appreciate if some body help me
You should clean your new guns you buy before you shoot them
I bought a new Springfield 9mm n cleaned it n there was some rust in the top inside slide part, don't know how it got there?
Every time I clean new guns the barrels are dirty
Now it's not going to damage your gun if you do shoot some rounds without cleaning it first as long as the gun isn't damaged n put together properly, but it is good to just clean it whether it is a new or used gun you buy, you never know what the situation is with it until you take it apart n clean it n check it out, so you can catched any problems with it before you shoot it, you don't want any serious issues with guns before you shoot them, guns can be dangerous shooting at times if damaged to much, one thing that can happen is something can come out n hit your eyes n damage them
Also wear hearing n eye protection when shooting
Mono. Gotta love it.
Thanks enjoy the teaching! Music was distracting though .
What if i dont clean my gund what wil happen is it dangerous
I don't like any water or solvent based gun cleaners, because if you don't follow up just as thoroughly with oil it may rust. I prefer Seal1 CLP for everything.
Nice video and thanks for the insights. You can get a bunch of lint free swabs as well to help reduce lint those ear cleaners leave behind. There is a lube called Riptide that I like a lot, maybe it will serve you well also. Cheers.
Helpful hint -- as to WHEN and HOW to clean your gun, try reading the Owner Manual (?).
Just saw a video saying never lube a striker. It causes it to get dirty and cause light strikes.
hello i live in INDIA,,, its tough to find good quality gun oil here, so can you suggest me any type of grease ??? lithium grease NLGI2 or NLGI3 ???
Just use motor oil if gun oil is hard to find. If it works in an engine it’ll work for your gun.
Don't use motor oil it isn't getting hot enough to make a difference plus it has lead and other metals that won't protect against rust unless you have a thick layer
@@VIPK9 its the only option bro
Whats the music called?
I didn’t know you could spray the cleaner directly into the striker assembly. Is oil the only thing you don’t want in there?
oil can collect dirt and grime
That was wrong!
I wonder Why you put the music in the background
Don’t forget your eye protection
Good information, but should have had close up shots of the actual cleaning so we could see the interior of the Glock
If you do that a lot, maybe better look into a fume hood. Protect yourself from fumes. ❤️
I can’t believe the number of people who will handle all those gun cleaning chemicals and not wear rubber gloves. Certainly there Has to be a cost of repeated exposure to those things over the years
Yeah, just like bacon.
Nah
Good video but you need to lower the music hard to hear you😮
Is it crazy that I deep clean my SHIELD 9mm and SHIELD 45acp every 500 rounds????
Ya, it is. Do you clean/relube your wrenches and hammers after a few uses?
No it's not. Opinions are various and yours is as good as most.
Shields jam if u don't clean them. It's not a bad idea. Gun powders are caustic.
Shit I clean my guns after ever trip to the range no mater if it was 50 rds or 500 rds. I think it so satisfying to clean your guns.
Great gun cleaning video.
I never knew that REM OIL was not viscous enough for a pistols.
'Our recommendation and how we like to do it.' Your opinion may vary.
Well, the video is practically an advertisement for Hoppe's. What do you expect them to say?
Most people use Remoil incorrectly and then say it's too thin. It's not about viscosity: you're supposed to leave it on (cleaned) frictional contact surfaces for one minute, then wipe it all off completely. Then its nano-Teflon particles fill in the microscopic imperfections of the metal surfaces. You are not supposed to run WET with it.
Rem oil is the trashiest gun lube you can buy
I don't understand the growing trend among gun owners to let their guns stay dirty for thousands of rounds. Does it improve the gun somehow or is it just laziness? It never hurts to keep your gun clean. And people who use the word "Lube" typically overdo it. I don't use any lube on my guns, just a micro film of oil on the necessary parts. Watch a video called "How to Oil and Lubricate Your Gun (and how NOT to)" by GunBlue490.
The point of lubricant is mainly to prevent wear and tear. I'm sure most handguns cycle fine without lubricant, but there will be a minor increase in wear on the slide rails and potentially other parts, so I lubricate my slide rails with a thin film. Also, if your handgun isn't cycling properly, lubrication may be a solution. I was having FTFs for a while and tried to polish and lubricate the feed ramp and magazine feed lips, though in the end I still had to fill the magazines to -1 capacity (slightly stiff magazine springs, I guess, they were new mags, so maybe after breaking in they would preform better. I can try full mags again later).
I can't find that action cleaner anywhere
Academy has it
Just go to the auto parts store and get brakekleen...it's pretty much the same thing
@@al01100 No, brake or carb cleaner can damage plastic, and some finishes. Contact cleaner is safer and usually has some corrosion protections included. You must oil afterward. This will dry out your oil. But, fantastic cleaner. The price is similar to carb, or brake cleaner.
All was good but the lubricating. Prolly need to watch videos from Glock and read the manual bc failing to follow their way of doing it can void your warranty if you have issues and try to send it in.
Your very proficient with guns
I’m going to have to learn all the inner parts, this is all Greek.
Listen.. I drop the mag and clear the chamber.. I can keep the mag and rounds on the same table.
Don't let the slide fall on the bench! Use Ballistol
how can i do this if I'm homeless?
Why added bg music ? Its very unpleasant.
Did you put oil on your extractor? Hmm 🤔
Also, putting oil on your firing pin will gum it up real quick.
Of course and everyone watching especially inexperienced gun owners this video demonstrates what NOT to do , all you need is little drop of oil in your slide rail especially if you got a glock ;)
@@HeadsUP253 A small drop of oil can be put on the extractor spring. Also putting a small drop on the firing pin spring helps. A little oil goes a long way, and won't hurt.
@@midwestgunworks Wrong.
Step one. Throw out that Hops 9 and buy GunZilla instead. It will get gunk that hops missed, dirt doesn't stick, and it doesn't leave a harsh smell either
Your voice is hard to hear as the “music” is way to loud.
Sure is a ton of different product there. I will just stick with number 9 solvent and number 9 oil. No need to over complicate it.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV, Jesus Christ is the only way.......
What does this have to do with gun cleaning?
I believe is Jesus n follow him
Guns are very evil, in the spiritual world I sense lots of evil in guns
Some guns I sense the angel of death in
Especially assault rifles
Video editing pro tip: Dialogue goes in a mono channel.
3 year video for edc. Now we have orderless cleaning and oil. That hopp stuff stinky!
I use non chlorinated brake cleaner. I'm poor
Stabil clp is 15 dollars for 8ozs. I'm poor also.
I use Mobil 1 for lube, then ATF mixed with Marvel Mystery Oil and kerosene for a solvent.
I'm not poor, but I love cost efficiency.
for oil, I use lucas or automotive oil. The composition itself is literally the same concept, preferably mobil, shell, or amsoil. In fact I believe amsoil does make oil specifically for guns. Unlike other oils, it is unclear what is the composition and what chemicals they use. I have heard both lubricant companies for guns and skateboard bearings just buy a barrel of oil and just refine it or add some premixed blend and then slap a label on it. Hardly any quality control or testing. Roflmao. Oil doesnt matter as long as you keep the gun nice n wet. Lol
He Roflhisao, then he lol. Nothing else?
Why not just drop the entire thing in an ultra sonic cleaner? 🤷♂️
I can do all this with a. Microfiber rag and Lucas clp weapon shield and a damn dry patch and two qtips also don’t spray the damn striker channel or the extractor you attract dirt carbon only rails and locking lug should have oil and the connector should have a dap of Grease then your good to go please don’t do this to your pistols guys 😂
Way to much oil for glock use a persition oiler and yall might want to real the glock manual!
I use this method on my personal Glock. Usually shoot 15,000-20,000 rounds a year. No issues.
Music throughout the entire video? Awful
Something tells me this is the wrong way to clean my glock 🤔
Clean all 6 of mine Friday since I went to the range to do qualification for my carry permit. I like to clean mine every time I use them or at least 1 once per month. Once I clean & lube them, I place the red chamber flag in & place them Gun Safe. Safety 1st always
Dont get that cleaner on any night sights, they will go dim,,,,very dim
Bro is recording in mono
Love the video , hated the music
whoa , NO OIL in striker area, just going to attract crap , no need, check out the glock manual and every other cleaning video
Damn boy you selling hoppes....just use ballistol ppl....hopes sucks
The one part I needed to see you didn't show exactly where you were lubricating it. Ugh!
I have a recommendation. You mention there are thousands of opinions on how to oil a gun and you’re going to show us how you guys do it but how about you just follow the manufacturers recommendations, which you’re not.
Facts
oh, but the open carry pistols aren't as popular? that's really interesting....
think about your words before you say them. "...most popular style guns, the modern carry pistol." concealment matters not in the style of pistol.
When you were in school, I wonder if your instructors played background music while they were teaching. FYI, it's annoying and doesn't add to what you're doing.
Love Hoppes products always have but all aerosols today are just wicked no matter the brand try looking at them in ultra violet light when spraying yep, your lungs are taking all that in Yikes. . .
Turn around n spray it to the side out of your breathing area then turn back around
Good ideal also to wear latex throw away gloves, so you don't get lead poisoning
Also wash hands real good are cleaning n shooting guns
I came here to watch how to clean the gun and this dude almost oiled up the whole gun 😂 😂 I’m no expert but that seems like is Not going to fire properly 💦 🔫 💨
It works perfectly fine. It's beneficial to use very light small drops, in multiple locations.
Weird people use Cotton swabs… I use a gun scrubber spray and a small paint brush to agitate carbon then respray. Shake out excess.
Same with slide.
Lube
Done…
🎱🥃👽😷🍕
You're audio needs improvement
This was the most common sense video I have ever seen it was more like a sales promo for Hoppes gun oil. Not very useful use swabs use lube duh
It was meant to be simple. Although it may seem like "common sense" to some, it may not be to new gun owners. Hopefully we will have some more in depth videos in the future.
You are too far away
Lost me at "Glock".
You lost me at “cleaning every 1k-2k rounds”… you should clean you gun after each use bro. TF
After every range trip or so, it only takes 7 minutes or so to clean most things 🤔
Thanks MGW. Great job. Good info. God bless.
LETS GO BRANDON
FJB!
Next time , kill that annoying music , and then you can bring us in a little closer so we can see what the heck you're oiling!!!!
