How many bullets will this lightweight plate stop?

- Modern ballistic plates are light and made from different materials. I was used to German army ceramic plates, that had a weight of approx. 3kg each. But they even had to be used in conjunction with soft ballistic, since they haven't been standalone plates. The NIJ III+ plates I test here are stand-alone polyethylene SAPI plates with a weight of 1,5kg / 3.3 lbs each. So super light and they even float in water. This SAPI plate is for when you need protection against more powerful weapons than handguns, for example rifles such as M80 and AK47.
Here is the manufacturers website: protectiongroupdenmark.com
Specifications for PGD-Lightweight Plate:
- Ballistic: Tested to NIJ level III
- Stand Alone: Requires no soft armor
- Lightweight: The SAPI plate weighs only 1,5 kg / 3.3 lbs. The side plate weighs only 0,45 kg / 1 lbs (6x6’’) and 0,63 kg / 1,4 lbs (6x8’’)
- Thickness: 28 mm
- SAPI cut
- Maximum comfort: Multi curved
- Water-repellent cover against oil and similar liquids
- Long warranty: 7 year warranty

I definitely want a couple of these. I would love to see the weight difference between these and the Ceramics I'm using now. Keep up the informative videos.
I appreciate the addition of the clay to get a rough idea of the blunt force. I know there are small pads used for car crash tests that measure pressure force. If they are affordable, it would be interesting to use those to get a more precise number for the blunt force
The test pads are a good idea. I will keep that in mind if I do a test on blunt force again. It would indeed be cool to have some numbers.
Those Danish plates do the job well I must say.
Glückwunsch zu 100K 😎💪🏼🎂
Danke, Franke. War auch viel viel Arbeit :)
I'll definitly get some of these!
excellent, thank you.

Great video, I personally use german army ceramic lvl 4 plates with lvl 1 soft armor behind them, it's heavier then more modern plates tho
So there is a secondary absorption armor to wear behind the plates? That's a relief
Unfortunately, uhmwpe plates won't protect from ammo with hardened penetrator (basically, all military ammo currently used - either 5.56 nato or 5.45 AK). Any penetrator comes through it like a knife through butter at any distances. NIJ III max protection level.

@@richardcastro7939 it's a solid nice plate, although it's rather not uhmwpe, but ceramic + uhmwpe. Anyway, it depends on threats you want to mitigate. Probably, it's pretty solid for America and green tips with steel penetrators. But it's not so great against Russian 5,45 7n22 and later ammo or 7,62 BZ ammo.
BTW, backface deformations looks a bit scary (especially from 308). NIJ says that up to 44 mm is OK, Ukrainian standard is 25 max, because actually everything above 25-30 would cause internal bleeding that is not treatable "in a field".
Nice video, can placing a lvl3 soft plate behind it be useful to reduce deformation and increase protection ?
Did you used civilian ammo or military grade?
Krass geil, danke.
hi, what ammo did you use?
How made hole or made dents if nt penetrated?
You got it damn:)
how strange, you put one plate into the basket and the price doubles xD and I always thougt "Dänen lügen nicht"
Don't do a double-click :D

It's nice that civilian 55-grain ammunition can withstand so many shots, but why didn't you use 62-grain NATO military ammunition or the new USARMY ammunition? Should a civilian wearing this plate count on the fact that the person shooting at him will have ammunition purchased in accordance with civil law Or will he not be a military man or a policeman? wearing something like this and sweating like that I would like to know it will stop the steel core,, I don't think it will stop
Thank you for the feedback. I did not have access to military ammunition. I also do not think, that it will stop steel core bullets.
It would indeed be nice to test it with other bullets also. But I need to check what's possible with the Austrian law.
I am sure an American could do a test with different ammo types much easier :)
With that plate against your body , you'd be seriously fucked, imo...need another material between you and the plate don't you think...those shock indentations in the clay would be massive hematomas on your body with internal bleeding or even organ rupture, wouldn't they? Still better than a bullet, I get it… I suffered impact trauma that ruptured my spleen, and almost died an agonizing death from that. Just sayin...lightweight (relatively)composite honey cone type backing maybe?
